In general: The longer the older/the more powerful. Hair shorter than the shoulders only as punishment for adult elves

upper left: Simple single braid, 3 strands, can be used by everyone, shows you're just a regular elf without any significant rank

lower left: two thick braids, 3 or 5 or 7 strands (depending on lover to fiance to spouse), from behind the ear, show that you are commited to someone

+ Bun, not braided, shows you reached mastery of your craft.

(Idea: Braided bun as guild leader of your craft?)

upper right: french braids on both sides joining into one on the back shows you are an apprentice to your craft.

Style of your hair in front of your ears, that is tied to the back shows the kind of craft. Simple loops for musicians, balloon braids for smiths, braid that joins into another behind the ear is for painters, and a thin strand that is woven into symbols for writers (though the symbol depends on what kind of writer)

Braids attached to the crown signify the rank:

13 Braids for the high king

11 for a king

9 for the crown prince(ss)

7 for the first born child of a king/queen/prince(ss) of the primary bloodline

5 for the other children of the primary bloodline/of the king/queen/prince(ss)

3 for the firstborn children of the secondary line and

1 for all other children of the secondary line

Which would mean before Finwes death he would have had 13, Feanor 11, Fingolfin 5, Maedhros 9 (or 7), Maglor 5, Curufin 5, Celebrimbor 3, Finarfin 5, Fingon 3, Turgon 1 etc.

Update on DnD: Gondolin and Dragons

Currently on campaign 3 - meet the cast

Elenwe, Idril, Glorfindel, Ecthelion and Kelundir are back from Cuivienen.

In Beleriand chaos has cost Rogs life and left the dwarves Doran and Kalvur marked with strange symbols and hallucinations.

From the great forest of Doriath a new figure emerges, curious and bold: Daeron.

How will the king Turgon and queen Elenwe deal with the rising threat of creatures running wild now that the greatest of them is eliminated and the others are fighting for dominance? How will Egalmoth deal with his brother who is luckily alive yet working for Caranthir? How will Penlod manage to keep the city safe when everyone is working against him and not paying attention to the boiling temperament of the noldor trapped in the valley? How will Idril manage now that she is no longer able to heal? Will Kelundir stay loyal to the queen or will he finally accept his divine quest and leave the noldor for good? What will Glorfindel and Ecthelion do now that the latter has rejected the proposal and broken up with him? And most importantly, will Duilin manage to find a way to bring Rog back to life or is the lord of the house of the hammer of wrath lost for ever?

If Glorfindel had a tattoo on his body, what would it look like and where would it be placed?

( It is for scientific purposes)

In my setting he doesn’t have a tattoo, never imagined him with one. Maybe after his rebirth though, I can imagine him wearing a cornflower over his heart, as remembrance for Idril and Gondolin.

Otherwise pre-Gondolin? Maybe some golden vines running down from his neck over his arms and back that resemble wings (for manwe) in shape, but are filled with flowers arranged like star constellations (for varda). And of course the gold and the flowers because of his ancestry :)

Is Glorfindel Gay, Bi, or Pan sexual?

Hi there! Multiple answers to that!

If it's "Would you describe Glorfindel as gay, bi or pan?" then my answer is, I would describe him as Bi. Why? Because in my setting he is interested in all different kinds of elves, no matter the gender. Why the Bi and not pan? Bc Bi also means two or more genders; and while Pan encompasses the same, it's really just a word preference.

If it's "Would Glorfindel identify als gay, bi or pan?" then my answer is, in my setting the elves do not have words that equal these categories nor do they think in it. Glorfindel in my setting pays no mind to labels, nor do other elves in the society. There is a chapter that roughly skims him being more interested in male elves at a certain point, but that is very muchan inheritance/power struggle that other characters try to force him in to and nothing about sexuality.
