Eventual Klaus Mikaelson x Siphoner! Reader
After the last scheme, I decided to take a break on helping out Bonnie's gang. She honestly has been so distant ever since Elena got kidnapped. I mean she tried to open the tomb again and didn't even tell me. She hasn't even spoken to me in person in a while. I was kind of mad at all of the gang and their lack of communication unless they needed something, so I gave them a taste of silence and spent all my free time applying for scholarships and completing college entrance essays. I'm not a real Einstein, but I've worked my ass off to get good grades and I will see it pay off. The labors of my work can be seen in the low level history class I entered into this morning. I have taken so many classes between this school and my last one I was forced to chose a class to take once again so my schedule would still balance out.
I chose Alaric's class because I am stupid and also it seemed easy. It got easier when he realized I was a senior and no one gave a fuck about me being in this class. I think he legit gives me As on any assignment I turn in. That was why today was so weird. Ric was late. Not crazy unusual, but not really normal. Then he started acting like he'd never been a teacher in his life. "Hello, class. What are we learning today?"
Dana is a suck up so she answered him.
"um the sixtiesā¦" he trailed off listing random shit that happened in the sixties until he started talking about Watergate. "Watergate was in the seventies Ric" Elena interrupted him before correcting his name.
Actually now that I think about it, it is weird we talk to our teacher outside of school. I mean he's like 40 and we're 18ish.
"Yeah that's right. I get the two mixed up in here," he pointed to his head. "Thank you Elena." No I don't like this. Did he do a line of coke before this class? That sounded so weird. Why'd he say her name like that?
I packed up my bag and stood walking out the door. I ignored Ric's questions and simply walked to the Library to chill until my next class. I'll figure out his deal later I do not have the energy right now.
I didn't see the Bonnie gang again til late after school. Bonnie texted me that we were studying with Ric for a test at the Salvatore house, so I drove there straight away. Perhaps, it was my fault for storming out earlier.
I walked in to see them all scheming away. I dropped my things dramatically, causing Ric to startle.
"Bonnie you have got to stop pretending you wanna hang out with me if you just want me to be part of your schemes." I threw myself down on the couch dramatically and Bonnie rolled her eyes. "I know but you haven't been answering when I ask you to come help us."
"Did you ever think that might've been deliberate?" I peaked an eye open.
"Gosh storming out of history, draping yourself on the sofa, you're more dramatic than ever." Damon commented.
"Shut up before I torture you again." I grumbled. Ric raised his brows.
"Not like that." Damon tried to tell him. "I mean those were your words not mine." I said holding my hands up in surrender. He sighed rolling his eyes at my teasing and I laughed.
"Anyway, what the hell help am I? I can't do shit unless you need someone kind of incapacitated."
"We might genius." Damon spat. I shot him a look and he shut up.
"If I can't kill him, you might be able to weaken him so I can." Bonnie explained.
"So you're gonna zap him and if that doesn't work I have to go up to the evil vampire and try to touch him?ā
"Yep." Bonnie said smiling .
"Oh I wasn't agreeing I was trying to point out in this plan someone is going to die, namely me or you." I pointed toward Bonnie.
"That's true," Ric agreed, "I mean he's the biggest baddest vampire around." he laughed at seemingly his own joke.
"Why are you being so weird today Ric?" I asked. He looked at me like he was concerned. "He's not weird you're just a bitch." Damon spoke sarcastically.
At this Bonnie slammed him across the room.
"Well I am impressed." Stefan said. I clapped softly nudging Bonnie with my shoulder in thanks.
"I can kill him Elena. I know I can"
"I can't find a single thing to wear that isn't fucking ugly." I whined on the phone with Caroline. She and I had gotten closer since I helped save her from werewolves. She honestly seemed like the most normal one in the group.
"I'm sure it's not that bad." she tried to reason with me. "I can't stand anything I have, I'm wearing jeans, I don't care anymore."
"Absolutely not that is unacceptable, I worked my ass off on this dance. Just figure it out please please please. I love you." She hung up, probably to leave. I needed to as well, the dance was set to start in thirty minutes.
I grabbed a random dress, which vaguely matched the theme, opting to do nothing else in protest of Caroline's monarchy rule over dances. I slipped on a decently level pair of boots since I knew I was probably going to be running tonight, or at least dancing if Klaus wasn't there.
When I arrived at the dance Elena was dancing with Stefan. He rushed off to tell Caroline something and was replaced by Damon. The two started dancing and I could swear I saw some chemistry. So, I decided to stay away from the Salvatore love triangle and go talk to Ric. Maybe he could tell me why he was being so weird today.
"What's up?" I asked as I grabbed a cookie from the snack table. "Uh well Klaus made a song request that was pretty weird."
"What song?" I asked in between bites. He furrowed his brows. "Why does that matter?" I shrugged, "I just can't think of any 60s songs that involve threatening murder."
He laughed at my odd take and mumbled out a random name of the song Klaus played. "Well in hindsight I guess I don't listen to a lot of 60s music." I took a final bite of my cookie in time to see Caroline waving me over to her. "Oh god she's gonna kill me for not dressing up." Ric raised a brow. "Caroline's always so fucking particular about these dances but I think just this dress is pretty enough right?" He looked me over and smiled, "Yes you look pretty, Y/N" I nodded awkwardly. "Alright thanks Ric," I patted him on the arm barely grazing a bit of his skin.
Normally I wouldn't even notice, because Ric is human, but this time I felt myself siphon a bit of magic. He jumped a bit rubbing where my hand had been, "Ah you shocked me, that hurt." I nodded and smiled awkwardly then walked toward Caroline trying to seem casual. She had her hands on her hips as she stared me down like an angry mother. "I know that you are upset with me, but aren't there more important things to worry about?" Caroline crossed her arms, "Like what?" she spoke slightly sarcastically trying to ease some tension. I laughed then looked back to where Ric was still standing looking toward Elena.
"Like how Ric has been weird all day," I started and she rolled her eyes. "No seriously, like first off he can't teach history suddenly. Then he went all goo goo for Klaus in the scheme meeting. And just now when I touched him I swear I felt magic on him."
Caroline contemplated. "Maybe he's been compelled."
"But why would I be able to siphon him then?" Caroline thought a second more before looking up to see Alaric talking with Elena and Bonnie. "Hey he looks like he's telling them something bad." I looked over to see the two of them rush out the doors after Alaric. "Why'd he only tell them?" I asked aloud and Caroline shrugged. "I'm gonna see if they need backup" I told her before running out after them. "Good luck," she said going back to dancing with Matt.
"I much prefer the 20s" I heard Ric say as I rounded the corner, happening upon Elena and Bonnie. "What the fuck are you guys talking about?" I asked as I got close enough touch them.
Elena ignored my interruption, "Alaric are you on vervain?" Ric smiled evily, "Why would you ask me that Elena?"
"What a dumb question." I mumbled out towards him. I thought a second more before pushing Elena behind me and grabbing Bonnie's hand. I wasn't going to siphon her if I didn't need to, but two witches are better than one.
"Y/N what the hell?" Elena questioned from behind me. Alaric seemed to cheer up at my sudden realization. "Elena, go get Damon," I told her. Bonnie looked at me confused but continued to let me hold her hand. "What why?" Elena stuttered out.
Ric smirked at the situation we found ourselves in.
I couldn't see Elena, but I could imagine the shock on her face as Ric started laughing. "Oh I knew you were a smart one. I thought you were onto me this morning when you got up and walked out, but you actually gave me some grace. I appreaciate it, it helped to continue my plan."
Elena got in front of me and Bonnie. I tried to shove her aside but she fought me.
"Oh calm down Elena, you're not on my hit list," he paused "tonight." He turned toward Bonnie, "But you are."
Bonnie threw him against the wall, he got up laughing. "Did I mention I know a witch? You're going to have to hit me a lot harder than that." She did, smashing a trophy case with the force of her spell. "Fire Away by all means," Klaus baited her. "Bonnie stop it." I tried to reason but she kept on throwing him around. I followed her into the cafeteria trying to figure out a way to get her to stop fighting him so I could lift the protection spell Klaus had put on him.
"Kill this body and I'll jump into another one, maybe Jeremy!"
She threw him extremely hard after that.
Elena ran out of the doors but I tried to stay with Bonnie.
"Bonnie this is not a good idea, let me help you." Bonnie turned toward me with frustration on her face. "Go now before I make you." I furrowed my brows confused, taking a step toward her. She lifted a hand up throwing me out of the doors. I hit the floor hard just in time to see Damon arrive with Elena.
"What the hell is going on?" He asked helping me up. "Klaus is possessing Alaric's body" I mumbled, reached toward the back of my head. I was bleeding, "Son of a bitch, Bonnie." Damon noticed the blood and looked towards Elena who nodded at him. At her allowance, Damon bit into his wrist shoving it into my mouth before I could ask what the fuck he was doing. I shoved his arm back wiping the blood from my lips. I pushed myself up trying to ignore the tingling of my head healing by itself.
"You're welcome," Damon muttered lifting himself back up. I went to the doors trying to open them only to find them blocked by a boundary spell. I started to siphon the magic of it away. I was almost done when Bonnie threw a chain at the door which wrapped around itself and locked the handles.
I began trying to undo the chains but Damon came up behind me, dragging me away from the door. "What the hell are you doing?" Stefan asked suddenly appearing.
"Bonnie's doing what she has to do." Damon replied. I struggled hard against him forcing him have to lift me up into his chest so I couldn't pull away.
The carnage continued to unfold inside the cafeteria and I heard Elena fiddle with the doors. She suddenly screamed out, "Bonnie no" and I stopped fighting Damon and started to siphon him instead. He grunted falling to his knees as he tried to keep a grip on me despite his agony. Stefan abandoned his spot watching Elena to try and help Damon. When he made contact with me I grabbed his wrist pulling him down and siphoning him as well.
Despite their grunting, they still managed to keep a tight grip on me. I was nearly out when the chains fell off the door and Elena pushed it open screaming for Bonnie.
I let go of the brothers and ran in after her.
Bonnie was lying on the ground. Her nose was bleeding and her body was bent in a strange way. I noticed she wasn't breathing. I grabbed her face sobbing at the sudden coldness of it.
"Stefan! Stefan do something! Give her blood or something we have to help her!" Elena pleaded as I tried to find a pulse. The room had become a blur due to the tears in my eyes.
"I'm sorry Elena, it's too late." Elena broke down sobbing as she clutched Bonnie's body. I felt my own body shake as I continued to hyperventilate. Bonnie was dead. Klaus had killed her forcing her to use magic she couldn't handle. Why didn't she just let me help her?
I closed my eyes feeling the tears fall faster as I thought of different ways I could have prevented this.
"Stefan get them out of here, I'll deal with the body." Damon spoke emotionless.
"What?" Elena spoke, her voice broken.
"The sheriff's going to get suspicious if there's another mysterious death, we have to get rid of the evidence."
"No no no this Bonnie. Damon this is Bonnie." Elena sobbed, her hands clutching onto the fabric of Bonnie's dress.
Stefan helped her to stand while I sat motionless. Staring at the tears I had accidentally gotten onto Bonnie's face. "Hey, Blair Witch, you've got to get going too," he grabbed my shoulder but I didn't suppress my siphoning. He groaned at the contact pulling back his hand, but I caught it and continued to siphon away his magic. "You stopped me from helping her." I spat at him. He was back on his knees and his eyes lit with fear as he failed get his wrist out of my grasp.
"No I didn't Bonnie did." he grunted through his pain. "She didn't know what she was doing, she needed me and you stopped me from helping her." I used some of the magic I had to start frying his brain, boiling the blood inside of his body. He continued to struggle away from me, but I didn't budge. Stefan came up behind me but I simply began boiling his brain as well. He fell to his knees in pain and I put a hand on his forehead, then began taking the magic keeping him alive as well. I only paused when Elena grabbed my face. I looked towards her seeing the tears that fell down her cheeks. She didn't say anything but she did all the same. I dropped both of the boys and walked out of the cafeteria. I got in my car and drove home immediately, ignoring calls I got from Caroline wondering what was going on.
I laid in my bed as soon as I entered my room. I had barely managed the energy to take of my boots and had none left to spare when it came to changing out of my dress. So, I chose simply to lay down staring blankly at the wall and let my pillow absorb the tears that silently fell from my eyes.
I heard my phone ringing but I ignored it. Nothing else was inportant right now, not when Damon was out there burying Bonnie's body in some shallow grave. Bonnie, my first friend here, the only person who seemed to think I wasn't strange for being a siphoner. Bonnie was dead and I felt like dying with her. I couldn't kill myself though. I had vampire blood in me. It would be for nothing if I died just to come back and live forever. Instead, I cried myself to sleep.
I woke up to banging at my door, and wondered if my dad was finally home and in a shitty mood. I slipped on my winter coat just in case and grabbed a pair of gloves that I shoved into the pockets. I ran downstairs opening the door, to find Elena standing there. She looked far too happy and I began to consider killing her for moving on so quickly. She pulled me into a hug and walked inside. I followed numbly as she pulled me up the stairs and picked out an outfit for me. I looked to the window. It was either very early or very late. I looked back at her as she motioned toward the clothes and then exited my room. I slowly pulled the clothes onto my body discarding my dress and jacket onto the floor in a heap.
I opened my door to let her back in and she smiled at me once more. She sat down on my bed and moved to let me do the same. When I did, she finally spoke. "Bonnie isn't dead."
"What?" I heard myself croak.
