Oooo bitch ainât this THE MOOD!
***spoilers for both atla and she ra ahead***
Iâve seen some posts arguing about and debating whether Zuko or Catra had the better redemption arc, and didnât realize until recently why seeing those kind of bothered me. I donât think Zuko and Catra are really all that comparable, because Zuko wasnât even the villain in season one. He always served as more of a foil, while Zhao was the real villain.
Catra, in my opinion, is a LOT more similar to Azula. Both were victims of abuse (at the hands of Ozai and Shadow Weaver, respectively) and based their worth on their abuserâs approval. They both had the capacity for good, but lacked the love and guidance that both Zuko and Adora got from Iroh and Glimmer/Bow. They both went to extremes for this approval because it was what they thought they wanted, but we see both with Azulaâs breakdown after the Agni Kai and Catraâs at the end of season 4 it really wasnât. I donât know Catraâs age in canon but theyâre both young and have never known anything else than their own terrible upbringings. Unfortunately Azulaâs end is a lot more tragic than Catraâs, and she just ends up getting worse in the comics. I wish we couldâve seen Azula get the same redemption as Catra, where she finally gets to understand why love is so important. Also theyâre both lesbians and have a trio of likeable evil girls so obviously same person.
Now I must move on to the obvious next step of this, which is drawing catra/scorpia/entrapta as the fire nation gals and azula/mai/ty lee as horde soldiers
It will never be The End!!
Scenes im not emotionally ready for in the live action atla remake:
- zuko betraying iroh for azula
- firelord sozin challenging his 13 year old son to an agni kai
- kataras mom protecting her from a fire nation soldier
- âI was never angry with you. I was just sad because I was afraid you had lost your way.â
- leaves from the vine
- appas lost days. That entire episode was so sad
- aang going to the southern air temple realizing that he really is the last airbender
- that scene where jet says heâll be okay and toph says to sokka: âheâs lying.â
- the end of azula and zukos agni kai
- âI dont think the boomerangs coming back. I think this might be it.â
- azula seeing her mother in the mirror
- âshe was my mother, too, but I think Aang might be right.â âthen you didnât love her the way I did.â
hey i just went n unfollowed a lot of ppl so if we were like mutuals and I accidentally unfollowed you lmk Iâm dumb and donât remember usernames
while âzuko sent to find one single person who hasnt existed in 100 years and then he actually doesâ can be very funny in concept, can we just talk about how fucking heartbreaking it must be for iroh?Â
like. he knows this is an impossible task. and it does happenâyes! in the first episode, so maybe we donât even think about it that much! but when ozai tells zuko to go find the avatar, itâs an impossible task. and iroh knows this. and zuko might have everything riding on this, and heâs a kid and hasnât learned whatâs impossible yet, and so heâs plugging his ears and saying âi can do it! i can do it and then dad will love me again!â, but iroh knows the only reason this specific task was assigned is because ozai doesnât want him. he doesnât want him back. ozai didnât want him to betray them so he gave him a little hope, a little âof course i could still love you, you can come back, thatâs a possibility, just donât disappoint meâ because, you know, heâs an abusive dick. but iroh knows his brother, and he knowsÂ
i think as a kid, while i loved loved iroh, it was a little hard to reconcile his silly moments with his wise moments. itâs not anymoreÂ
iâm just thinking of the pai sho tile, and how silly it seemed at the time that it was just in his sleeve. silly old man! so forgetfulÂ
no. no, that wasnât it at allÂ
because every moment he stalled, every moment he mucked up the plan, every moment he just generally wasnât helpful, that was another moment where he could still have a chance. where he might get through to zuko. where he could delay what was suddenly now a very real possibility:Â
that ozai sent zuko away, but zuko would actually come back, expecting to be loved. and thatâs what iroh didnât want to happen. winning ozaiâs love was more unrealistic than finding someone whoâd been dead for 100 years, in the endÂ
While watching the show it never occurred to me that Iroh was stalling to avoid the confrontation Zuko would have with his fatherâs undeniable rejection. I always thought it was to prevent Aang from actually being captured. to save the world- not to save Zuko. But this adds such a deep and beautiful layer to it.
I always thought that Iroh was also stalling for time. He knew that if Zuko captured Aang, Iroh would have to choose between the good of the world (saving the Avatar) and the trust heâs been building with Zuko. If he took the Avatarâs side, Zuko would inevitably see it as a betrayal (especially back in Book 1) and Iroh would lose his influence over him. And while the Avatar was of course hugely important to ending the war, Iroh saw that so was Zuko.
One of my favourite what-if scenarios is the blizzard not happening, and Zuko capturing Aang at the North Pole - only to be taken out by Iroh and Pakku.Â

Iâve been told:Â
That Iâm a âstraight invaderâ,Â
That Iâm âgoing through a phaseâ
That Iâm âreally gayâ and âsuffering from internal homophobiaâ
That what happened to me âwasnât conversion therapyâ
That my identities are âdisgustingâ and âa threat to childrenâ
Examples of who it was a phase for to âproveâ itâs a phase for me as well
That if I donât âadmitâ most if not all people like me are âgay with internal homophobiaâ gay children will hate themselves for years thinking theyâre my identities instead of gay
That the rape and murder of gay people is my fault
That I âsteal resourcesâ from gay people
That Iâm lying about being sexually assaulted âfor attentionâ as my identities are âattention seekingâ so I shouldnât be trusted
That if I go to pride Iâm âinvadingâ a space that doesnât belong to me
That every bit of abuse that happened to me because of my identities either âdidnât happenâ or âdidnât countâ as oppressionÂ
âWhy do you want to be oppressed so badly?â
Iâm talking about being bi and trans, but I see every one of these things said to ace and aro people on a daily basis.
Saw a post saying the op wanted to âvomitâ after seeing an ace flag at Stonewall because itâs âdisrespectful to the gays who were beaten and oppressed thereâ: I have had âgays get beaten, bisexuals donât because Straight Passing Privilegeâ used against me, and âwhere were you at Stonewall? Off with your het partners having it easy, cowards!âÂ
People have said the trans flag should be âburnedâ when seeing it at rallies and tried to get the bi and trans flags removed because they âdonât belongâ.
Iâve seen the Pulse shooting used to shame ace and aro people. I have been told due to my âbi privilegeâ it was ânot my tragedy to mournâ.
Bisexual contingents frequently get booed at pride parades for âinvading gay spacesâ. Visibly bi people get shouted at and told to âgo homeâ. Bi and trans people perceived to be in âhetâ relationships get told âget away from our pride!âÂ
I was accused of being âdivisiveâ for planning things for Bi Visibility Day by a cis gay man who then proceeded to tell me how trans people âdidnât belongâ in the community. I see ace and aro people get shamed for having their own events and then told they âdonât belongâ in the same breath.
These are the same fucking arguments if all you do is replace bi and trans with ace and aro. And Iâm not going to let that be forgotten.
Iâm not letting this be forgotten either.
If you believe any of these âargumentsâ, get the fuck off my blog before I rip your fucking throat out and shove it up your ass. Youâre dead to me.
If youâve had to hear any of these âargumentsâ, I am so, so fucking sorry. I know that wonât fix it, or make it go away, but Iâm not sure what to do other than that.
(In case youâre wondering why âargumentsâ is in quotes, itâs because an ACTUAL argument is a civil discussion of ideas. This isnât civil. This is slander and bullying.)
Bisexual trans man chiming in: you arenât welcome on my blog if you believe these things. Die by my sword for forgetting your own fucking history. Bisexual and Ace people were at Stonewall! Visibly queer people were at Stonewall!
Queer trans women invented Pride you fucking dipshits.
Donât think we donât know what youâre trying to do when you attempt to exclude bisexual and trans people from pride.
We fucking see you.
If you wanna gatekeep so fucking bad, start with the terfs and racists in your own communities first, how about that.
not to be dramatic but we desperately need a punk movement to come in and wash away this Instagram model airbrushed picture perfect trend. itâs so damagingâŠâŠteens, young adults, kids, the GrownâŠ.all of us need to just. we need to be sweaty again. we deserve it smeared eyelinerâŠ..idk just. itâs okay if ur hair is greasy please just relax & then get mad about stuff thatâs important to you.
okay not to sound like Iâm preaching about the meaning of Emo to my mom in 2008 but the thing is, especially when youâre young, things are all messy and sort of falling apart, and youâre confused and angry and sad and thatâs alright,Â
but there used to be this idea among my friends and peers that it was okay to LOOK the way you felt. falling apart? cool, brag about how your eyeliner is on day three and youâre in the same hoodie you always wear. no, itâs not the same as getting help, but at least youâre VENTING.
now, thereâs so much pressure to hide it. to bottle it all up. Instagram isnât the root cause, but it really is a shrine to our current mainstream push to make our lives look perfect to the onlooker. Itâs not healthy!!!!
We just need to be allowed to look like shit when we feel like shit again!!!!!
Look like shit 2020!!!!!!!!!!
I just feel that even though weâve made leaps and bounds in the realm of mental health discussion and such itâs all so SANITIZED now. sure, you can mention your issues, but donât display any of the ugliness of it. You have to look acceptable. the model of recovery. Iâm rejecting it!!!Â
in 2020 weâre going to embrace ugliness and be vocal about our greatest challenges!!!!!!!
can we also say something about the liberation of using cheap make up for fun bc iâve met so many 13-17 year olds who spend all of their minimum wage on expensive sephora products because they feel they need to look instragram photo perfect for every day school

If yâall wanna know the true power of hate, just remember that Alan Turing, the breaker of the enigma code in WWII, was driven to suicide by being forced to undergo chemical castration as a punishment for his homosexuality.
Historians say he saved 14 to 21 million lives.
Iâd also like to say in the time we studied WWII in school, the history textbooks never mentioned him. I had never heard of the guy until I watched âThe Imitation Gameâ which I 110% recommend you watch if you havenât.Alan Turing was a blessing to humanity who saved (once again) 14 to 21 million lives, and he is left out of history because he was gay.
And this is just one example?? So many brilliant and heroic people are left out of history because of their race, their gender, their sexuality, their religion, and itâs just because some bigots in positions of influence get to decide what parts of history are remembered.
This man has had a profound effect on the world, itâs estimated he shortened the war by 2 years, saved countless lives and was the father of modern computing. Without him the world would be a very different, and very dark place.
He wasnât just chemically castrated. The injections they have him were intended to decrease his libido as part his sentence for âgross indecencyâ. About 2 years after his trial he was found dead in his apartment next to a half eaten apple that was filled with cyanide (which became the inspiration for the Apple logo).
Turing is one of the most amazing people in all of history. He developed our modern method of computing (see: the Turing Machine) and advanced computer science by immeasurable amounts. And he dies when he was 41. Just imagine if he lived in a world where he was accepted. Imagine the technology we would have today and how many more lives would have been saved. No person deserves what Turing got, especially not someone as brilliant as him.
TEACH. CHILDREN. ABOUT. ALAN. TURING! WHEN THEY LEARN ABOUT WWII, THEY DESERVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE MAN WHO ENDED IT!!!
