I messed up. I fucked it all the way up. I know that. But yo’ heart ain’t gotta be black like mine, baby.

To commemorate my first year of climbing mountains, I decided to go on an easy hike to Manabu Peak with my boyfriend. It was only appropriate -- the moment we got to the garden-like peak area, we w...
Check out my wordpress, where I try to become a travel blogger lol.
one day we wake up and nobody can tell the truth. i tell the coffee clerk that she made it perfect, she says “i hope you have a nice day.” i think of you and sneak two more sugars into my drink when no one is looking. i go to work and i tell my boss i’m late because traffic was crazy, he says, “I care about what you go through.” i think about the smell you leave on my pillow. the person in the cubicle next to me asks “did you see the news?” and i say, “yes,” and then when he’s not looking, i google it. across the headlines, panic is spreading. nobody can speak anything but lies at the moment, but at least text is working so we can be sure of the numbers, god bless the economy. i send you the link, and one about cats. i hope where ever you are, i made you laugh. at lunch when the intern asks me what i want, i say, “a salad” instead of “a twelve-inch sub.” he later asks me how my meal is, i say, “good enough!” he says, “you really are looking thinner these days,” i say, “that’s very kind of you.” he says, “did you see the news?” and i say “no.” i think of the way your hair looks in the sun. i think of your body beside me while we sleep. i think about how you’ve been distant lately, how i’ve been doing everything in my power to keep you with me. i’d destroy myself for you. during the last meeting of the day, a woman leans over and says, “you did a good job on this presentation,” my boss says, “get ready for a big promotion” and the intern kid says, “really, you look thinner by the instant.” i think of you so i do not lose it. later i show someone else the present i ordered for you off of amazon, she says, “it’s lovely,” i cancel the order. i’ll buy you something better. on the walk home someone shouts out, “you look nice today!” and my heart crumbles. and i think of you, of what i will say, of how i could phrase things exactly the right way, how the lie will sound when it comes out of my mouth. when i get home, hands shaking, heart pounding, i call you. i say, “i hate you,” because it is the furthest thing from the truth. every bone in my body knows it, too. after a long time, you reply, “oh honey,” deep breath, “I love you.”

What are the things you can and can't wear in DLSU? And kung Bisaya ka and you're not really comfortable with Tagalog pa, pwede bang mag English na lang?
LOL whut. Well, if you’re a girl, you can’t wear mini skirts and super short shorts. I think they revised the dress code recently, but you’ll be oriented naman come LPEP. If you’re Bisaya then okay, go ahead and talk in English. Some people might tease you for being conyo, let’s face it, but just talk in the language you’re comfortable in. Do take time to practice Tagalog though, to further assimilate. I know that there’s this thing among you guys that you don’t like talking in Tagalog (as my Bisdak boyfriend have told me numerous times), but you’ll find it’ll make some things easier especially if you’re planning on working in Manila. And if anybody mocks you for your accent, just laugh with them, unless nalang it’s really offensive. Good luck! :)
Hi Ate! :) I stumbled upon your blog through a dlsu hashtag. I'm an incoming ISE froshie and I was wondering if mahirap ba magiging DL with this course? :(
It depends, of course, with the output you produce! As an ISE major, expect lots of papers and readings, case studies and theories. Sometimes, it’ll feel like your head will explode because of information overload, but hold on. I think that everybody can be on the Dean’s List as long as he/she works hard. Kaya yan!
The First Major Climb
From Coastal Road, when the sun is just low enough and the afternoon sky clear, you can make out the shadow of the massive Mt. Mariveles across the bay. It’s huge, it’s intimidating, and it’s beautiful. A major climb, most hikers go there to set up camp and watch the glorious sun rise and set from one of its peaks. On its west face is the popular Tarak Ridge, a thousand meters above sea level. From there, you can see Corregidor Island, and if you look hard enough, the other side of the bay.
Justin and I were supposed to go to Tarak last January, but because of warnings and the fact that we were so unprepared, we decided it was best to reschedule. April 11 was perfect; the day hike to Tarak Ridge became some sort of an anniversary climb for us.
A growing collection of moments

June 2012. Late afternoon. I arrive, with my mother, to Catarman’s shabby and decrepit airport, a bunch of her friends waiting, not for us, but for other people. “How are we going to get to Pambujan?” I asked her, and she merely laughed and said they’re her friends for a reason. Coconut trees swayed in the ocean breeze brought on by the Pacific, and locals crowded around us to show their wares. They think we’re tourists, and maybe I am, but mama calls this place her home.
