i think……..one of the many problems in how sex is perceived in society is that we seem to think its this isolated “skill” like people are very anxious about getting experience or practice or whatever wrt sex but that’s not really how it works, it’s fundamentally an expression, a conversation; two-sided, subjective, situational, and figuring out what works for everyone involved, as opposed to being just another objective talent to master for all situations as if its one-size-fits-all without consideration to your specific partner

Counter-point: sex is very, very similar to dance in this regard. There certainly is skill involved; while nothing works for everyone, there are certain things that work for many people and other things that work for very few, and knowing which is which is a good starting point, like knowing the steps of a social dance. But communication IS absolutely vital to dancing well, and it's also vital to fucking well.

Reminds me of half a fic I sketched out about a music duo who have phenomenal chemistry on stage that they ascribe to the fact that they are hot for each other but have never fucked and the tension is that they want each other more and more at they get more and most successful and it's unrequited desire vs. fear of destroying their mutual art and I don't know that happens because resolving the tension would kill my interest in my own story.

Gods, every so often I encounter a post that makes it clear that someone is engaging with paganism as just reskinned Christianity and it drives me crazy. Valhalla is not Heaven, Hel is not Hell, and the universe is not actually an existential struggle between good and evil, pure and corrupt. Paganism involves reverence for beings who are usually, by any modern standard, rather morally grey. The point is not that they are GOOD, it is that they are GREAT.
