Today on tour de fleece: i finished spinning my first spindle skein of tour de fleece!
Slipstream’s Pull on polwarth & tussah silk by Three Water’s Farm, 2-ply fractal spun 2:4.
This wound up being a really fine spin, there are some lengths of lace weight but it’s primarily fingering.
Yardage is a mystery, but likely somewhere near 500.
Today on tour de fleece: i spun and plied some more alpaca
I finally got to spin on my wheel again, i needed to card more of the fur but hadnt had the time until now. So i was very happyyyyyyy

Supported spinning with a lap bowl* is the most comfortable spinning method I've got.
*read as: 2€ dip bowl, but hey, if it works...

I need to prep more of the alpaca im spinning on my wheel and i do not have time for that today so i ended up spinning on my trusty spindle
Its coming along quite nicely if i may say so myself
Finally bought some dye and have been having so much fun with optical color mixing. I decided to start with cmyk primaries to get some vibrant color options.
So far I've only mixed up the main batch of colors, but I'll split them up and create a palatte of tints and shades once I have access to a scale again.
I don't have any fancy tools and have been blending the fiber by hand, so it's probably best I have a forced break for the sake of my fingers. Once I'm done I should have a very useful set of 57 2g swatches to play with! (Plus 5 more for a set of grayscale swatches)
If I'm still up for it, I might repeat the whole thing with my classic red, yellow, blue primary dye set. For a truly massive set of heather swatches.

Ok, I did not know there were bivalves that created spinnable fiber.
I certainly did not have "Free-diving grandmother harvesting, spinning, and weaving fiber from clams" on my Bingo card today. But I am delighted!
