NEW POST! A few years ago, PETA posted soft-core porn and called it "girl power" in honor of International Women's Day. What does it mean when we frame sexual objectification as strength and empowerment? I am especially critical of this tactic given that PETA (and other Nonhuman Animal rights organizations) work within the capitalist system, a system that necessitates inequality to amass wealth. Gender is one of the original forms of difference created to justify extreme exploitation, including rape, forced motherhood, underpaid labor, and unpaid labor. - Corey Lee Wrenn
