Hello! Updates!
It's been a while has it not? Yeah, I fell off the wagon majorly. Bento boxes have not been made for weeks, I've been binging, a lot and dairy and bread has somehow become a big thing in my diet again. And I feel like shit. Not mentally, other than feeling exhausted, but this week it's really caught up to me. All the bad food is taking its toll on my body, my mind is unable to concentrate and my exhaustion levels are at the point where I take two naps a day. This weekend I am heading out of the house for a long weekend away, and I'm going to use it to build myself back up. I'm heading back to a veg*n diet, where possible, and try and cut the binging again. I always eat a lot less and better when I'm left to my own devices, away from stress and judging eyes. So I feel like this weekend will be a good thing for me. All I have to console myself through major exhaustion and joint pain is that I, miraculously, haven't gained any weight.

Homemade bean chilli with yogurt and a banana!
My tastebuds are back as is my appetite and I’m rearing to go! Just in time for my birthday! :D today is also cheat day because we’re celebrating my birthday a bit today!
A little trip to the oriental supermarket means a cold lemon tea on a hot sunny day! And some chocolate mochi for my birthday on Saturday! :D
Woohoo! I hit my pre-birthday weight goal 😁
A whole week in advance too! Which is awesome. And my throat feels 100000x better today which means I can make something yummy for lunch and bento for tomorrow! 12lbs down, 98 to go!
26/5/17 - western style Oh hey look! I forgot to post this box again (because tumblr sucks and wouldn't post it before) but since I can't eat anything that isn't yogurt, soup or tofu right now I have nothing else to offer until my throat stops feeling like there's a circular saw in there. On the up sIde, I did hit my weight goal for this week and I'm officially 10lbs down!! In the box; Spicy bean burger patty, diced potato roasted with paprika, tomatoes, cucumber and carrot stars and teddies... because I'm a mature responsible adult. 😅 Cal: 434 | carb: 59g | fat: 16g | protein: 12g
Chibi me is sad because she’s sick so she’s hoping a nap will make it all better by tomorrow! Sore throats are the worst when they stop you eating solid food! 😥
Reasons why I've not posted food for two days! I'm super sick and eating anything other than bland, soft, or liquids hurts to swallow. I will be back to it later!

Dinner! I think this is the first western dish I’ve made myself since starting my weight loss journey because I tend to control myself better with Asian food… but anyway!
Spicy bean burger with sautéed mushrooms and vegan mayonnaise, tomatoes, cucumber rinds from my bento and diced potato roasted in olive oil and paprika.
A better way to kick my cravings in the butt and up my poor calorie intake for the day.
24/5/17 - Asian style
So despite the fact that this was my ‘I got home at 9:30 and I’m back to work at 7am’ bento I got… a bit carried away. I seem to have ended up with a strawberry rose for breakfast and a bunny themed lunch…🌹🐰
Breakfast; (blue portion) King strawberry, grapes, ½ apple, clementine and dipping soy yogurt
Cal; 133 | carb; 29g | fat; 2g | protein; 2g
Lunch; (pink portion) Steamed bun with tofu, mushroom and mixed veg, veggie sausages, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, carrot, soy sauce and ½ apple bunnies.
Cal; 439 | carb; 54g | fat; 16g | protein; 20g

Kay that omelette was supposed to be rolled… but my pan sucks and it stuck and turned into a mess. But anyway…

I got some wonderful gifts from Japan today! Sakura an (similar to red bean paste) and salt preserved sakura! I can wait to make some sweets and sakura rice with these! If there's one thing I miss about Japan it's the sweets! Sakura mochi was amazing! Sakura dorayaki is now in the table for my birthday! 😁 頂きます‼︎
I did homemade ramen! 🍜 with the sugar detox killing me I thought a good dose of comfort food was up for grabs!
Makes 1; 1 wholewheat noodle nest 3 sliced tofu puffs (around 40g fried tofu) Shredded daikon (mooli) Button mushrooms quartered 1 Dried shiitake mushroom, soaked for 20 minutes in boiled water and sliced. 1tbsp white miso 1 cup kombu dashi 1tbsp low sodium soy sauce 1tbsp cooking sake
Optional toppings; Wakame or nori seaweed 1 spring onion Sesame seeds Shredded cabbage
To cook; Easiest meal ever; throw everything into a pan, including the mushroom water, except the miso. Cook until the noodles have softened and then turn off the heat and stir in the miso. Add toppings if you didn’t cook them.

Sugar detoxing is actually the worst!
I've been trying really hard not to binge and avoiding sugar and actually all I succeeded in was giving myself a short temper and a stomach ache 😖 Hopefully this will pass quickly and I won't start ripping heads off customers at work.
I made katsudon and it was the best thing I've ever eaten! Obviously I made a veggie version with a soy cutlet rather than pork, but seriously it's soooo tasty! I finally understand why Yuuri Katsuki thinks of it when he thinks of Eros! Because I'm trying to minimise added sugar and salt I had to adapt a recipe from a cookbook, but honestly any more sugar in it would have made it too sweet. Makes 1 bowl; 1/2 cup cooked brown rice (I used leftovers and re-steamed it) 1 veggie soy cutlet, cut up into strips 1 red onion 1 egg (vegans can omit this or scramble some tofu with nutritional yeast) 1 tbsp cooking sake 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce 1/2 tbsp mirin 1/4tsp corn starch 1/3 cup dashi (kombu kelp soaked in water for at least 20 minutes) To cook; Sauté the onions in olive oil until soft. Add the cutlet with the dashi, mirin, soy sauce, sake and corn starch. And cook until the sauce has reduced, turning the cutlet pieces once to cook both sides. Add the egg, break the yolk and scramble it together until creamy. Pour rice into a bowl and top with the patty mixture. Sit down and enjoy the wonders of katsudon! I swear it tastes better than it looks! If you find it hard to get a hold of certain ingredients like dashi or sake Amazon is your best friend or rakuten and nihon ichiban both ship direct from Japan, it just may take a while before they arrive.
