thank you so much for your ask teddy!! i'm very happy to have answered the "🐚" question on this previous post,, but i didn't want to just leave your answer in the mailbox!! so, if you don't mind, i've chosen another one to answer that reminded me most of your blog (the juice box = refreshing and a nostalgic cozy vibe like a fresh cold pillow after a long day, just like your blog!! i love seeing your updates and it always feels like a nice cold box of apple juice to cool down and relax /lh /pos) ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

🧃 do you have any gear for regression? it doesn't have to be typical (like a paci, colouring books, diapers…), just things that make regression easier for you - i have,, so many things that i consider gear for my regression, and if i were to list every single one of them this post would be miles long but i would be remiss if i didn't mention (in an informal list) at least three of my most cherished or used items: - my stuffies that were either gifted to me by my loved ones or have extreme sentimental value (ironically enough i'm typing this while my best friend's highschool bear named "teddy" sits in my lap, and its one of my most prized comfort possessions because of how much it means to her too and i still can't even comprehend that she gave it to me to protect me when i'm tiny,, and i just love stimming with him when i miss her,, but i'll see her soon so it's all good.) - my pacis/bottles,, especially if they have a super cute design on them - oversized shirts that i use to regress or slip into a comfortable headspace, especially if it means i can stim with my lips on the collar. the less restrictive the clothing is to let me play or roll around the better!!

🐚 for the ask game!

thank you so much for your ask, hester!! this was quite a pickle, and i've found myself pondering this question for quite a bit trying to articulate my thoughts. but, i love a good challenge and want to personalize this blog to myself a little more, even if it means talking about difficult things. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ content warnings for very vague mentions of childhood trauma/venting.

🐚 what's something you wish you could tell your regressed self / what's something you need to hear about regression? - that is is absolutely, 100% okay to be mad. be very upset kiddo, be vocal about it, and you don't have to face all the big feelings alone. gnash your beak/fangs, fluff your feathers wildly, and screech till your throat burns, because you have loved ones that have the compassion and understanding to hold your hand through the anger and tears. your anger about what happened in the past or who it was doesn't take away from the progress that we've made now.

and, though the circumstances at which regression became a coping mechanism is unfortunate, regression is still completely yours to create the "future" childhood you've always dreamed of.

HIIIIIIIII HARP!!!! thank you even more for sending me asks kiddo!! its been forever since i had the time to sit down and answer things,, but i wanted to take the opportunity to give a quick shout out to harp's newest blog!! (@melaniedreamzzz) they worked so hard to make it special and i'm so so proud of them for making a self-indulgent blog for themself and wish them nothing but success in their creations moving forward. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

🦢 do you struggle with embarrassment or shame about regression? what do you think could help people who do? - i most definitely have moments where i find my regression embarrassing, but i've been doing my best to allow myself grace and allow the thoughts and feelings to be felt and not let them deny me of relaxation/time to myself/my coping strategies. i notice they come up mostly when i have obligations or things that i feel as though i'm "supposed" to do instead of my mind retreating into a younger headspace or being as helpless as a child would be in that given situation. however, with recent positive developments at work i've found that there is absolutely a balance that can be achieved in life where you can allow your voluntary regressed self and adult headspace to coexist. i can gush about teddy bears with my coworkers in one instance, while also being "serious" and getting what needs to be done in another. i do want to reassure those who feel shame or embarrassment with their regression that your regressed self is not "cringey" or "weird" or "gross" or anything else that your inner critic has said. at that time you were most likely doing your best to survive and cope, and that is something to be honored and cherished, not shunned or criticized harshly. at times i imagine my younger/regressed headspace as an extension of myself throughout the day as a little companion that i have to take care of and validate their feelings as though i were catering to a "real" child. i wouldn't shame them for liking stuffies or rambling about their favorite subjects or crying because they feel upset or scared or clingy, so what would possibly be the reason that i do that to myself? /lh /suggestion

and that's all I have to say. well, no it isn't really. I do want to say that in an attempt to actually pursue my passions instead of second-guessing myself, I am starting a little craftivism project where I make embroidered pieces with wildlife/animal activism themes. I hope that I can change even one person's mind with them.

let's talk about caring for a regressor with PTSD/trauma.

i think a lot of regressors would describe themselves as sensitive when they're regressed, which makes sense. but when that heightened sensitivity is engulfed in panic attacks and flashbacks? it's truly devastating to witness.

if you're a carer to a little one with PTSD/trauma, know that i'm proud of you and your kiddo knows how much you love them. i sometimes struggle with blaming myself for setbacks in my kid's recovery, and if anyone feels the same, i want you to know that i know you're doing the best you can. remember that you're not responsible for their healing, and although you truly want to be there for your little one, you deserve to have your needs met too.

of course, such low lows make the highs seem even higher; the mornings when your kid wakes up and says they had no nightmares; teaching them to use self soothing techniques; proving to them each and every day that you're not going anywhere... don't get me wrong. i would do anything to rid my kid of their trauma. but i wouldn't trade them for the world.
