POV: You spend time with a guy "behind their back." (Part 5/4)
(Reader is NOT cheating)
ft. Jealousy, fluff
Caleb
---
You don't tell Caleb.
Not because it's a secret—but because it feels too insignificant to bring up. It's just coffee. Just some time. You won't be home that late.
The guy sits across from you, friendly smiles, cracking jokes. It's been a long time since you saw him back in school. You bumped into him after work—and decided to catch up.
It's 1am by the time you return home. Caleb's already there. Still awake.
Caleb doesn't say anything at first.
Your keys are still warm from your palm as you shut the door with a click.
"You're in a good mood. Did someone else do that?" He says, almost casually.
"Oh, i just ran into someone. We lost track of time." you answered, honestly, busying yourself with replying a text message as you drop your work bag next to the couch. You smile at the screen.
His gaze lifts to your face, gleaming from the phone light. "The same someone?"
"Same as who?" You reply, glancing up as you sit on the couch next to him, shoulders brushing. You type a quick reply, lips curling again. The second the message sends with that unmistakeable sound, you feel it. His attention sharpens, and he leans closer, gaze zeroing on the name on your screen.
"The one you've been texting lately."
"You noticed?"
"I tend to notice things. Like when you smile differently at your phone when he replies."
You blink. Caleb's fingers hook under your chin, yet not demanding. Just gently coaxing you to look at him. His eyes soften when you meet them—unable to stay detached when it comes to you. His presence is steady, familiar, but there’s an edge to it now—something buried beneath the surface.
"You spend...quite some time with him on that phone. Enough for people to get ideas."
"...Do you?" you tease, trying to lighten the mood. You tilt your head, letting your phone turn off in your hand.
"I get plenty of ideas," he continues quietly.
"And no. I'm not angry. I'm not jealous. I don't have a right to be."
"Then why do you look like that?"
He rolls his eyes and looks back at you. then, earnest, boyish with the sincerity in his eyes. “I trust you. Just... don’t want someone else getting the parts of you I wait all day for.”
He leans in, close enough you can feel his breath on your ear, and lets go of your chin. He rests his own chin on your shoulder, a pout forming on his lips. It's just a distraction. He's actually taking your phone from your hands and hiding it behind his back.
"I don't need labels to feel territorial." He laughs airily. "I just... see someone looking at what's mine."
"Did you say 'mine'?"
"..Did i say that out loud?"
"Oh my gosh, you're impossible, Caleb." You laugh, swatting him away and realising your phone is gone at the same time.
His jealousy should bother you. The possessiveness he unabashedly displays should be a warning sign. However, instead, it settles comfortably in your chest, curling around your heart warmly, like something protective
---
"But seriously, Y/N. I don't like wondering if he's making you laugh while i'm not around. And definitely not when you smell like his cologne when you return."
He leans back in, lacing his fingers with yours. You realise he's memorising the lines of your palm, tracing them fervently. Memorising you—the shift of your body, the shakiness in each breath
Your heart skips. Did he feel that?
"..you noticed that too?"
"I told you, i notice everything." He smiles, but it didn't reach his eyes. He pressed his forehead to the side of your head, an arm pulling you closer. When you finally sigh and lean into him, he hums with relief.
A letter that's unreadable because you'd be crying by the first line. Folded with care— probably tucked into a book you had casually mentioned wanting.
"With you, i'd do it all over again."
He's not a natural at cooking, but he's amazing at instructions. Quietly following a tutorial on how to make a dish you'd said you were craving a few days ago, he'd nail it. And hopefully you. I mean-
Rafayel
He would pretend he forgot, when he's had this day marked on his phone for weeks. He'd be super extravagant, even if you didn't ask for it. Rent the whole beach? A rooftop garden?
"...please say you like it or i might throw myself in the ocean."
When you're thoroughly exhausted and beat, laying near the water, he'd roll over onto his stomach and look at you with something like adoration in his eyes.
"You make everything less scary, you know?"
Sylus
He'd buy you a new necklace, and pretend he didn't spend days passing by that same piece and pondering.
"I thought it'd suit you better than the dust it was collecting."
Nonchalant, he's trying to be. He wouldn't go super far with the planning, maybe just a simple dinner in your favourite spot. Two glasses, and food he probably didn't cook. He wouldn't dare to, just in case he ruined it.
"I've never kept a precious gem for so long." He'd say quietly, holding your hand.
Xavier
Pound town.
Caleb
He won't let anyone forget this is the day you officially became his. Before the sun even rises, 12am, sharp. Your phone is blowing up with pictures he posted onto his 'moments'.
"Happy anniversary to me and my pipsqueak :P"
He makes it sound playful, but it's actually a serious warning to anyone who tries to be funny. You're off-limits.
Oh, gifts? Not just one. Several. A framed photo of the both of you, custom bracelet with your first name and his last name, you name it. It's like Christmas morning came early.
"I know, i know you said you didn't want anything... but i wasn't listening."
Rafayel meeting your friend who has a crush on you
Jealous jealous jealous ☺️
------- love and deepspace
"Cutie, i bought you your drink- Is this your new friend...?" he began, walking over with your drink.
He raised an eyebrow, and cocked his head a bit to the side, analysing your friend. You had said you'd bring someone to meet him, and something else. He hadn't really been paying attention, to be honest. He was just too excited when you said you wanted to meet him after so long.
Oh, that's nice. He's helping her carry her bag. It's probably really heavy- ...Wait a minute.
Why is he carrying her bag?
"It's my friend! His name's J... Say hi."
"It's nice to meet you." Your friend said politely, with a dazzling smile. Too nice. He's too nice. Something's off. Rafayel doesn't like it. And why is he standing so close to you? Doesn't he know you're taken?
"Hi." Rafayel bit back a snarky tone, his expression dark and his eyes narrowed with a childish kind of anger. The kind that made him want to pull you into his arms and stake his claim with a frown.
The way your friend was smiling at you made him just want to paint it off his face.
"Ah... Y/N. Is this your current boyfriend?" Your friend forced a smile, and you didn't notice the way his eyes stayed cold. But your lover saw it.
Sometimes you forget how perceptive he truly was.
"Uhm... he's my boyfriend, yeah."
"The one who got you the lame painting for your birthday? And the note in a bottle?-" he challenged, with a mocking laugh played off as a joke.
Oh, that's it. Did this lowlife even know the value of Rafayel's work? He spent months on that piece, and this- cat, just called it lame?! He wasn't having it.
Rafayel swiftly took your bag from your friend, cutting him off.
"Sorry my gifts aren't up to your taste, but they were for my girlfriend. Not you."
With that, he pulled you along with him, leaving you stunned. At both your friend, and Rafayel's behaviour. What had gotten into them both?
"Raf! Hey! Stop!" You yelped, as Rafayel continued to drag you even when you were already outside the store and a few blocks down.
"What was that for?!"
"Is that actually your friend?"
"Yeah! You were so rude-!"
"So was he," he huffed, looking away and frowning deeply.
You paused, pressing your lips together in a disappointed thin line.
"....He was, wasn't he? He's not usually like this."
"Oh, i bet he's not. Can't you see he likes you?"
...
~Aftermath~
"Y/N, cutie..."
"...do you think my gifts were lame?"

A/N: oop it's been prettyyy long since i posted anything even close to a one shot so here u go!! 😖😖
It's like the world was a blur, like even the universe itself couldn't comprehend what he had done. Even if it was minor. He let go immediately.
"Ow, Xavier! Let go."
"...I-"
"Did i hurt you? Let me take a look..."
"I'm fine... You just gripped my wrist a bit too tight..."
"Don't look so sorrowful... It makes it impossible to be mad at you."
"I-"
"I'm so sorry. I didn't... mean it." He looked away, eyes trained on the floor, scratching the back of his neck.
Caleb
The moment you meet his gaze with a pained expression, his whole world turns grey. He immediately lets go, and steps back.
"Caleb- L-Let go!"
"Ow..."
"I-"
"I-I'm so sorry... Pipsqueak- I..."
Watching him stumble over his words... it was a little funny.
"...Is it painful? Come, we need to get you to Skyhaven. I'll have our best doctors look at it."
"Caleb, there's no need- Okay-! Okay! I'm coming..."
Zayne
"Are you hurt? Let me see."
His eyes were solemnly inspecting your wrist, as if he had twisted it off or something.
"It's not... broken."
"I'm sorry. It hurts, doesn't it?"
"I'll just get an ice pack, it's alright, Dr. Zayne-"
Before you could even start to move, Zayne's hand became ice-cold and he held your wrist tenderly in his hand. He kept his remorseful gaze low, so you wouldn't see it.
"Better...?"
Rafayel
"Ah-! Rafayel, your flames!"
"Cutie-? Oh, oh no." He rushed to your side.
Frantically grabbing your hand that you got a burn mark on, he glanced at you, to check if you were angry. In his opinion, you should be.
"Cutie, i'm so sorry. Oh, what was i thinking? Does it hurt really bad? Let's go home, the training ground can wait!"
"Rafa, we're almost done with the level! It's not that bad!"
"You're in no condition to fight like this... We're going back, now."
Sylus
He was usually a marvellous dancer. At this particular ball, it seems, he just wasn't used to the new shoes. The tailor must've messed up the measurements, because he stepped on your foot.
"This is fun- Ow."
At the sound of your pain, his eyes widened.
"Kitten? Sorry, am i too heavy?"
"Let me see..."
"Sylus-! I can walk!"
"...i don't need to sit..."
Suddenly, you had Sylus on one knee, carefully taking off your shoe he stepped on, examining your foot.
"Is it tender, kitten?"
"...no. Can we go back to dancing now-?"
"...Sorry sweetie, we can't risk hurting you again. We'll have to go home."
He had to hide his desire to apologise like a psychopath once he had you alone, somehow.

The Lemurian sat carelessly on his sofa, a book perched between his slender fingers. You stepped over to him, and sat on the sofa, perching on the edge cautiously. You gazed at him, and he put down the book, raising an eyebrow at how suspicious you were acting. "Can I help you, cutie?"
You couldn't suppress the grin on your face as you pulled his blade out from behind your back, swiftly placing the sharp tip against his chest.
"I could stab your heart right now.."
"You're... threatening me with violence? Against me? Oh, you're breaking my heart, darling!"
"I'm a lover, not a fighter," he added.
You expected a reaction, yes, but not like this. Couldn't he just... amuse you? Be a little more genuinely afraid?
"Please, have mercy! I'm a fragile fishie."
....
"But, also..."
Your raise your eyes to meet his, feeling your hand loosen around the blade, and he wrapped his smooth fingers around yours, effectively lowering the dagger.
"I'd much prefer if you didn't stab yourself, darling."

Caleb
You glanced up, looking at the array of the newest Skyhaven weapons the Colonel was allowed to have. He left them spread on the coffee table, as he planned to get back and then organise them. You reached over and picked up a little neat dagger. Caleb would be home anytime now.
What if...
You hid by the front door, so you could ambush him.
...
The door clicked, and you held your breath, excitement coursing through your veins. Without warning, you pinned the unsuspecting Caleb against the wall, blade against his chest. "Woah, pipsqueak– What's gotten into you?" he questioned, not even flinching. A smile stayed on his face, like he didn't believe you'd hurt him.
"I could stab you, right now."
"For-?"
"Hostages don't speak,"
"...alright." He played along.
"So? What're you gonna do? I could seriously hurt you."
"...Well.. Nothing." He shrugged. "You can go ahead, pipsqueak."
"Just promise to tell me what i did wrong after, so i won't make you angry again."
-------
Zayne
You fiddled with a fork in the café, and tapped your feet against the flooring, restless and impatient to receive your cakes. The two of you had spent the last hour or so together, though you were still trying to figure out if it was a 'date' or just him making sure you 'ate properly'.
At some point, you squinted and pointed the fork to him, poking his chest across the small table.
"I could stab you, right now." you huffed, your leg brushing against his.
"Hm? And here I thought you liked me," he adjusted his silver glasses, a faint smile formed on his lips.
The deadpan delivery, the slight teasing that laced his tone— It was infuriating. It was.. Zayne.
"..you're impossible."
He brought his gaze down to the tabletop, and the lightest pink dusted his cheeks and coloured his ears.
"Well.. I'll allow it."
"Only if you'll bring me to the hospital, after."

Sylus
You laid in his embrace, fiddling with the collar of his jacket, your whole weight on him as he had his nose buried in your hair. He was letting himself be calmed by the scent of your shampoo. Your hand moved to trace a line down his left pec. "I could stab your heart right now.." you began, quietly, your fingers coming to a stop in the middle of the muscle.
"Go ahead, I won't stop you," he said as he did that kind of annoyingly cocky smirk, hand tangling in your hair, like he knew you couldn't hurt him.
"..Seriously?"
"Have i ever lied to you, kitten?"
"..."
"I have a knife in my back pocket," He confessed, right eye glowing a dangerous red. Yet it didn't seem at all threatening.
"W-wait, Sylus, stop-"
------------
Xavier
Sitting quietly beside him in an empty train carriage, on your way home together after completing a handful of bounties. It was the perfect time to mess with him.
"You know.."
"I could stab you right now," you said, innocently, as the Xavier who was almost nodding off, lifted his heavy eyes again to gaze at you in sleepy confusion.
"H-huh..? Did you say something?" he asked, rubbing his eyes.
"I said," You cleared your throat, kind of irked he didn't hear you the first time. "I could stab you right now."
"...Oh. Yeah.. You could."
That's it? 'You could'?
"..is that all you have to say?"
"..Is there something else I should say?"
"I... nevermind." You sighed, defeated, crossing your arms and gazing to the side.
A small smile appeared on his face, and he reached a hand out to turn your head back towards him, finding your slight pout adorable. You didn't even notice you'd been pouting.
"You could.." he added on to his previous words. "...if it helps, i'll sit still for you."

A/N : i thought of this at midnight and had to write this scenario hhhh
It was an odd pair to see. The reserved boss of Dawn Winery and the slightly chattier Y/N. Diluc was distant and often unapproachable with his signature frown and monotone voice— yet strangely enough, he was surprisingly easy to open up to when you had the chance to talk.
Considering your partner, the ever-charming Calvary Captain Kaeya, silver-tongued with a remarkable knack for getting people to tell him things, seeing you enjoy your conversations with Diluc was unusual, to say the least. The brothers were polar opposites; one sociable and charming, while the other was cool and aloof. Yet they had one thing in common– their habit of hiding their true emotions.
Somehow, you got along with them both, despite their difference in personalities.
Tonight, you placed a glass back onto the damp coaster with "Angel's Share" printed on it. You were intently listening to Diluc recount an experience with a particularly difficult Abyss creature in a voice that lacked all emotion.
Unbeknownst to you, the Calvary Captain had sauntered in, hoping to 'accidentally' find a man suspected of withholding information related to his recent mission. He froze at the doorway, eyes narrowing at the sight of his beloved and Diluc together at a small round table.
"Ah, there you are." Kaeya drawled, an arm snaking around your shoulders. The fur that adorned his attire tickled your neck. The mission could wait— he had something more urgent to deal with.
"K-Kaeya!" You exclaimed, startled but happy to see him. "Why're you-"
"Didn't think I'd find my favourite person here, so cozy with the wine boss,"
"Don't cut me off. Why're you here? You said you had to work overtime." You frowned, puffing out your cheeks, glancing up at the unfairly handsome man. 'Oh.. Well, I just thought I'd find something interesting here tonight.."
He turned to Diluc with a pointed grin.
Diluc’s gaze didn’t waver. “Relax, Kaeya. We’re having a normal conversation.”
Kaeya’s smile tightened, his gloved hand lingering a moment too long on your shoulder. “I do hope you're not boring her with another boring story, Diluc."
Diluc sighed, clearly unamused. “Not everything is a competition, Kaeya. Relax.”
"Don't flatter yourself," Kaeya smoothly interrupted, his words aimed to insult but with his honeyed tone, they sounded almost harmless. "And I am perfectly relaxed, though I do appreciate the sentiment."
Though, if it were a competition, Kaeya would win it all too easily. You thought.
Diluc just rubbed the bridge of his nose with a gloved thumb and index, closing his eyes and biting back a retort. "If you're just here to disrupt the peace, don't bother-"
Before you could protest, Kaeya gently tugged you off the chair and steered you toward the bar of the tavern.
“Kaeya, what are you-”
“Making sure my partner isn’t stolen right out from under my nose,” he said, cutting you off with a sharp smirk. But the way his hand hovered at your lower back hinted at his possessiveness.
You frowned. “Are you seriously jealous of Diluc?”
“Jealous?” His laugh was low and dismissive, though his jaw tightened. “Me? That’s absurd.”
"You didn't need to hover like that,"
"Hover? I was just enjoying the atmosphere. Not that you'd understand... the atmosphere down there for shorties like you is quite different, isn't it?" He teased, trying to subconsciously brush off your words about his jealousy, to avoid a serious conversation.
"Right,” you said, giving him a knowing smile, ignoring his teasing. “It wouldn’t have anything to do with Diluc, would it?”
Kaeya chuckled, his smirk unfaltering. “Why would it? I’ve no reason to be bothered by such things.” He continued, taking your hand in his, casually intertwining his fingers with yours.
You didn’t press further, only leaning closer as you whispered, “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
His step faltered, but he recovered quickly, tilting his head with a low laugh. “Am I now? I’ll have to remember that.”
Though he brushed it off, the satisfied gleam in his eye told you he wasn’t upset about you noticing.
"How about I buy you a drink to apologise for my little... outburst?" he tilted his head to the side, his blue hair flopping over in a certain way. You laughed, the sound lingering in his ears like a melody he yearned to hear all the time.
"Lead the way, Captain."
