So a white woman was recently caught on camera calling a 5 year old the n-word multiple times at a playground, and then used it a few more times when confronted by an adult. She also said if the 5 YEAR OLD CHILD didn't want to be called the n-word "he should have been acting like one"

Now she's set up a gofundme FOR ONE MILLION DOLLARS to "protect her family" which has been picked up by the right-wing podcast circuit and has attracted the exact kind people you think. Donating amounts like $1488 and calling bipoc "savages" and "animals", straight up reciting the 14 words, and quoting MLK Jr as a backhanded justification.

Remember a time when saying a racial slur even in the past was ground for at the very least social scorn? Now people like this feel emboldened. I feel like it's only going to get worse.

Things I would tell myself 5 years ago:

Just because you’re nice and selfless for other people does not mean they’ll be nice and selfless for you. There is no problem with being nice, kind, and selfless, but it needs to have boundaries.

Do not ever settle. You will be unhappy (or worse traumatized).

You cannot change a man. Your love won’t change him. People decide to change if they want to and on their own accord.

You’re not Jesus. You’re not God. You cannot save everyone.

Take people as they are. If someone shows you who there are, believe them.

Do not date for potential. Do not EVER marry for potential. You’ll potentially get hurt and traumatized.

Have Boundaries, Standards, and Expectations.

Not everyone keeps their promises no matter how much you remind them. If they can’t keep their word, leave them alone.

Never make room for disrespect. Communicate once on it and if they continue to do the same thing (even if it is wrapped in a different bow), leave them alone. They don’t respect you.

Don’t give men the benefit of the doubt. There are too many examples of how unhealthy men are dangerous.

Tumblr staff would make things so much easier if they gave people the option to mark their blog as Mature instead of everyone having to do it post by post.

I'm sure a lot of artists who post their professional artwork on a separate sideblog would appreciate being able to reply to comments left on their sideblog while keeping their professional artwork separate from their personal blog.

I have a sideblog for language learning. I get a lot of questions about grammar, etc. in my replies, and it's extremely inconvenient having to make a new post to reply to questions that require short answers.

Please can people stop spreading that Tumblr banned porn because of FOSTA-SESTA.

If that was true, Reddit, Twitter, and many porn specific sites would have been targets too.

FOSTA-SESTA targets advertising in person sex work, not posting your nudes online. It doesn't even target advertising porn—something allowed on plenty of other apps.

Tumblr banned porn because they were asked to deal with the CSAM but were incapable of doing that (or unwilling to), so they banned nudes and porn to make it look like they had made an effort.

But they didn't even properly commit to that, resulting in unflagged porn appearing in tags, something that shouldn't be happening on a site that allows under 18s.

Tumblr's incompetence is all their own fault.

FOSTA-SESTA is bad for other reasons, like making it harder for FSSWers to screen clients and making it harder to find victims of sex trafficking.

I feel like a lot of users here who swear that Tumblr became a better site after the porn ban just don't know what the fuck they are talking about or are in denial how much in the drain this site is.

When the ban took effect it affected non-nsfw blogs. One my other blogs a lot of people I followed became inactive because of the ban or because a lot of people were leaving and not looking back, a lot of communities on Tumblr left beside the obvious ones that still active on here. I eventually stopped frequenting on Tumblr and when I came back after a year or two of not being on here I see Tumblr is begging people to subscribe to blogs for money and forcing ads on users because they are turning broke....before the ban there was an option to block nsfw content and I didn't see anything wrong with that they just needed to get rid of the perverts/pedo's and sex bots.
