It's so weird that teeth can't regenerate. Have you ever thought about how weird that is? You grow a set of teeth as a baby and then those fall out and you grow a new set and then that's it. That's your last set. You are cut off from teeth.

Hey, biology? What the fuck? How come we can't grow a third set if anything happens to the second set? Why so stingy with our teeth?

If my hair and my fingernails can continue growing forever then I think I should be allowed to grow new teeth. Grow them on my fingers! I don't care! Just give me the option, nature!

Hey so it turns out that humans have a third set of teeth ready to grow in their mouths but it never grows because after the second set grows in, a protein forms that tells the body "Teeth are done! No more teeth now," and stops all tooth growth forever.

Scientists in Japan are working on a way to get around this protein and allow humans to grow the third set of teeth as needed.
