Despite her eyes being used to the darkness, it took her a bit to recognise and take in the sight of who she was waiting for. She had never seen Vergil before, but she had heard of him. It was safe to say that her imagination of how he would be was nothing compared to reality and it was quite surprising to see such an ancient demon look so⦠young. He picked up on that from how she addressed him and if she could get some colour in her cheeks, theyād be tainted red at this point. āNot at all,ā she struggled as she tried to leave out the sir again, ājust trying to be respectful.ā And of course she was. She understood that this would not just reflect on her but on her maker as well and Clara was loyal to her sire. She would never want to be the one to bring shame down on them or displease of their father as Clara understood perfectly that Vergilās piece of mind meant everything. āThank you very much for that,ā she nodded, appreciating the trust she had been given both by her sire and by the demon. She knew it wasnāt a thing she should be taking lightly and she should value it as much as she valued her own life, if not more. āUh, I know that it is in Europe,ā Clara started before getting a bit more specific, āI donāt know in depth details as my maker always wanted me to remain focused on other things, but I have heard that it is a place where all sorts of supernatural and human live together. Or at least they would like to but not everyone shares the same allegiance. Thatās about how much I know.ā
Vergil nodded at her comment about being respectful.Ā āYouāre going to be useful,ā he smiled. People opened up to those that showed them respect. It was why he always played the friendly card. Being mean and spiteful was not going to make a lot of friends.Ā āAgain lighten up. I know I am a big bad, but I treat those under my service well. Provided they donāt fuck up,ā he informed her. Emphasising the last part mildly.
āDonāt think me yet, this particular customer has a penchant for talking a lot,ā he warned her. After all Aries loved the sound of his own voice.Ā āYou have that correct. Especially that not everyone shares the same allegiance. Some think we can live in perfect harmony and not have any conflict. I call them delusional. War is in every species nature one way or another. Anyway not here for a lecture,ā he disclosed to her and then chuckled at the unintentional pun.
āThere is a post coming up at the University that means you will work closely with an ancient vampire called Aries Clarke. Heās a potential problem with my bigger plans. I want you to gather information about him. Keep me in the loop about all the goings on. If you can get enough stuff to hang him with that would be great,ā he briefed her
