Couldn’t find it so I made another because you’re right that it’s a crime and it’s definitely my duty to remedy it

he's free now
this is an example of a symbiotic relationship
its so awkward when people ask me why i dropped out and i have to be like "inadequate disability support" bc no one wants to hear this. they're always like i thought they had to provide that though isn't it the law? girl you might want to sit down i have some bad news about the litigation-based enforcement of the americans with disabilities act
then if i do say that theyre like, couldnt you sue? well theoretically maybe but not without spending more money than i have and putting myself through absolute hell. so no. no i can't.
it’s just this

Disgust has absolutely no ethical weight. If you are basing your ethical positions on the emotion of disgust you should stop, it is entirely unjustified and leads to a huge amount of harm.
Word for today: wisdom of repugnance
The logical fallacy that because something disgusts you it must be bad
this is probably the funniest example of a tumblr user simply not reading the post theyre reblogging at all
Reblog if you are a freak who is justifying their gross actions
Should've worded it differently but I get what they're saying
#I agree but I fear evil people with the intention to harm others and innocents will use this to justify their gross actions
If you don't argue from disgust in the first place, then the very idea of using this to "justify" anything falls flat from first principles.
Like:
Person a: "this thing is ethically wrong because it does a, b, and c demonstrably harmful things"
Person b who wants to do that thing: "your disgust holds no ethical weight, so it's okay if i do that"
Person a: "who the fuck said anything about disgust?"
Like. There is no "justifying" that works here if you have any real non-disgust-based argument. If you don't have a non-disgust-based argument, you probably should be told to question why you think the thing is wrong. Maybe it'll lead to you not believing the thing is wrong, maybe it'll lead to you having real, actual reasons for believing the thing is wrong.
But also, like. You should probably let go of the idea that there are specific "evil people" too. There are people who do harmful things. You yourself have probably done harmful things; i can't prove it, because i don't know you, but i feel pretty confident in it. You are not evil because you have some harmful things. The thing isn't "hunt down the evil people", it's "get people to stop doing harmful things, or if we can't then stop people from doing harmful things."
The worry that this could be used to justify harmful things is absolutely absurd, and honestly could probably use the dunking on it's been getting.
Don't lead with disgust. Lead with reasons that things are bad.
Fuck hostile architecture, I want unhostile architecture. I want benches to be designed to be as easy as possible to sleep on. I want little places for pigeons to nest to be purposefully put on buildings. I want people designing public spaces to think about what they'd be like to skateboard on. I want "Please loiter" signs. I want people to be kind. I want...

Every June this inevitably winds up back on my dash. And I appreciate that. And I will reblog it. Every time.
Hey, it’s @archerinventive, and the Pride Knights!
Some day I want to see a show that does the “no filler episodes” thing from the opposite direction. Just a whole season worth of low-stakes character pieces that seem to move the overall story absolutely nowhere, then episode 26 pulls all the triggers at once and this massive Rube Goldberg machine of a plot the show’s been quietly setting up in the background the whole time hits you like a truck.
Incredible one-liners as always

Men in Black (1997) dir. Barry Sonnenfeld
I use this scene to explain implicit bias to people. his first instinct is to assume the aliens are violent and the girl is innocent, but instead of acting on those assumptions he takes time to recognize his bias, look at the situation again, and then act.
