During Tammy’s funeral, should she die, the narration explains that Sol has only attended a funeral at the colony recycler twice. It says that “Both times, a colonist had passed away from natural causes during the 20 year long journey from earth.” But we know that’s not true, Besk took her own life.
Obviously the narration is from Sol’s perspective and contains their thoughts often. I wonder if this suggests that the adults lied to the children about how Besk died. Did they also lie to Dys and Tangent? Or did her kids ask Instance for the truth? Based on their reactions to Tammy’s death I assume that they would. They are both insatiably curious and often need to know the reasons for things, especially Tangent. 
Obviously as the twins get older they learn about how Besk actually died because they mention it when mentioning her or mental health. I wonder when they, or any other Strato kids like Sol, learned the truth about her death.
