One thing I'll miss about The Way Home is how balanced it is. It's higher stakes than a typical Hallmark show or movie but less melodramatic than a CW show. In the CW teen drama version of The Way Home everyone would be pissed at Alice for disappearing all the time, but instead, everyone's mostly just happy to see her. Some of them figure something is off but don't pry. It's such a reasonable response to not just assume the person is guilty of wrongdoing for not revealing all their secrets. And that doesn't make the show boring either because when there already are supernatural elements to provide intrigue, there isn't the need to milk angst out of every single situation. (Then again, it's mostly Alice and the teens she travels back to that this applies to. Some of the other characters are all over the place lol)
