Observations and conjectures

If the phrase "Murderbot Diaries" (or sometimes just "Murderbot") is not part of the base tag name, the fandom name "(Murderbot Diaries)" is appended at the end of the tag.

The earliest events do not reference an associated Discord in the tag name, even if the events were organized on fandom Discord servers. Discord servers are increasingly referenced in event tags starting in 2024 with "#Discord: New Tideland Writing Workshop (Murderbot Diaries)"

The event tag "#3/3 For Three (Murderbot Diaries)" does not specify a year, and was used sporadically for multiple years.

It seems there are two ways for a community Discord to be included in the canonical tag: A. If creators mention a Discord in pre-wrangled tags on their works, "Discord: [Server Name Here]" is prepended to the tag. B. If event organizers plug a Discord in an event collection associated with the event, the tag starts with "[Server Name Here] Server's". However, if there is an event-specific Discord with the same name as the event, the server is not referenced in the tag, most likely because it would be redundant. It is yet to be seen what might happen if an event plugs multiple Discords.

"#Murderbot Diaries 2.0 Discord's Murderbot Diaries Drabble December 2025." Pointing this one out because it's funny.

There is an inconsistency in the tag format for Aspec Murderbot Diaries: in 2023 the year was at the end of the tag. In 2025 it was at the front. The placement of the year appears arbitrary.

Some repeating events are grouped together under a metatag, but some are not.

"#Mensah & Murderbot March Prompt Meme (Murderbot Diaries)" specifies itself as a prompt meme type event in the canonical. This is new, in contrast to the "#Aspec Murderbot Diaries 2023" prompt meme. This perhaps indicates new event wrangling standards.

Most event tags are used on works that are also part of a dedicated event collection, but some are not associated with any collections. Collections often contain additional works that are not tagged with an event tag.

😅 I thought about skipping most of the Drabble December/Unplanned Detour drabble sequence fics since they're all part of the same story, but... I do quite like all the drabbles I wrote, so whatever. I can show them off if I want to.
