Every night I plan to sit down and work on my #WIP. Then I decide that a glass of wine would be nice.... The next thing you know 3 glasses of wine later it's 10pm, I'm relaxed, kicked back watching Three's Company with 0 words written.

Being mommy to a child diagnosed with autism has definitely been THE hardest thing I've ever had to learn how to do. But every new thing he learns, every accomplishment, every bright smile and kiss he gives me makes my heart melt and reminds me how blessed I am to have been chosen to be his mom.

My Marriage Summed Up 🤷🏾‍♀️

About 85% of our petty arguments shouldn't be arguments. We go back and forth over things that have nothing to do with either of us. Neither of us can see that we are saying the same thing, just unable to communicate our views the way the other would like; this results in a disagreement and not only don't we agree but I don't like your fucking tone while we're disagreeing.

The Spook Who Sat by the Door 📖

Today I'll start re-reading The Spook Who Sat by the Door by Sam Greenlee. I read it years ago when I worked at the public library; that was almost 20 years ago.

I've had it on my bookshelf for years. I'm not sure, but I think watching Judas and the Black Messiah the other night may be the cause for my sudden desire to pick this book up and read it.

On another note I've missed my February reading goal completely... and the goal was only two books per month (February being two classic African American fiction works in honor of Black History Month).

The Spook is a relatively short read, so I could still pull off two books this month.

It's possible. I wouldn't need to buy a book. I own a few titles that would fit the criteria:

Hurston - Moses, Man of the Mountain

Clair - Rattlebone

Bunkley - Starlight Passage

Hamilton - The House of Dies Drear

Hansberry - A Raisin in the Sun

I'm planning to get back on track with my reading goal ASAP. After all, polished writers are avid readers.

I love these shows about ppl living off the grid. I don't think ... I KNOW I'm not cut out for it, but seeing ppl willing and loving to live solely off the land intrigues me.

After this mornings events I think I'll just deem myself a severe introvert and stay DF in the house.

A snow/ice storm in Memphis + COVID-19 + Boil Water Advisory = A Funky Ass Memphis Mess

sidenote: There is not enough water to boil. The utility company also advised that they have water mains broken, causing low water pressure. We're only getting streams of water, barely enough to wash a small child's hands.

But at least I was able to get Girl Scout cookies (Thin Mints of course)

I came up empty on water, not a case, not a bottle, not a jug to be found.

I guess it'll be movies and feeding my paper craft addiction the rest of the weekend. (Planners, journals, stickers and washi)

I may venture out again tomorrow morning depending on if the bed decides to turn me loose before the children wake up wondering why pancakes aren't on the table and the smell of bacon isn't in the air....

On Writing

The thing I like the most about being a writer is that it allows me to tell all of the stories that consume my brain. Since childhood stories would fill my head, causing me to daydream and forget about everything else except the story being played out in my head. Back then I didn’t write them down, I’d just sit still and let the story play out. As I got older I started to write them down. Always starting on a new one before I could finish the previous. These stories are now dozens of half finished writing projects; short story collections, novellas and almost full fledged novels.

The thing I dislike the most about being a writer is that if you want to be any good at it, it requires discipline. That I lack in many aspects of my life, especially in my writing. I’d love to change that, but that in itself would require a discipline that I’m not accustomed to.
