January 2026: The First Seven Days

Thanks to the efforts of a local beaver & erosion the Wasteland wadi is particularly low right now. I usually can't ford it without getting my feet wet but now there are multiple dry shoe routes:

We've had intermittent power issues over the past two weeks. The local utility finally determined the problem was an old transformer. We had roughly two hour interruption while they replaced the transformer on Sunday:

After this mornings events I think I'll just deem myself a severe introvert and stay DF in the house.

A snow/ice storm in Memphis + COVID-19 + Boil Water Advisory = A Funky Ass Memphis Mess

sidenote: There is not enough water to boil. The utility company also advised that they have water mains broken, causing low water pressure. We're only getting streams of water, barely enough to wash a small child's hands.

But at least I was able to get Girl Scout cookies (Thin Mints of course)

I came up empty on water, not a case, not a bottle, not a jug to be found.

I guess it'll be movies and feeding my paper craft addiction the rest of the weekend. (Planners, journals, stickers and washi)

I may venture out again tomorrow morning depending on if the bed decides to turn me loose before the children wake up wondering why pancakes aren't on the table and the smell of bacon isn't in the air....
