Her boyfriend particularly had something against her new style of dress but was fine with the change of underwear choice…wonderrrr why? I especially dislike the part where they wrongfully played “keep away” when her boss called her phone, the same boss they knew was someone who was very demanding and stressful to deal with, and acted as if she was wrong to be upset with them for their rude and childish antics. Did they even apologize? She gets them free expensive gifts or shares her perks and they return the gesture by trying to make her quit or make fun of what she has to do to thrive in her job or in that scene get her fired.

I realize it’s been sixteen years but, um, Dark Willow was right.

By which I mean: Warren was a violent, abusive misogynist who murdered her girlfriend, murdered his own girlfriend, and attempted to kill Buffy. He deserved to die. And Andrew and Jonathan, as much as they are more likeable characters who eventually find redemption, aligned themselves with him and his shitty quest for power without thinking twice about it until it was too late.

Yes, she shouldn’t have hurt her friends, but she was also accurate in her assessment that Buffy was being a huge fucking hypocrite about the whole thing. It’s also probably true that if Giles hadn’t been a condescending, finger waving jackass about her addiction problems or hadn’t decided to abandon them all at the ripe old age of 21 and ask them to take care of an entire town, the world, and a teenage girl by themselves that things wouldn’t have gotten so bad.

The reason Xander was able to successfully reach out to her and keep her from ending the world wasn’t just because Giles had lowered her defenses, it was because he was the only one telling her he would love and support her through anything: up to, and including, bringing about the apocalypse. He didn’t bullshit about all the beauty and goodness in a world that had been steadily falling apart for all of them for the past year. He didn’t admonish her or tell her Tara would be ashamed. He just told her that despite the trauma, despite the addiction, despite being villainized for being gay, and angry, and imperfect, and not forgiving the people who caused Tara’s death, indirectly or otherwise, she was exactly the same person she was when we met her in season one.

If you can’t handle Willow at her lesbian villain, you don’t deserve her at her seemingly straight computer nerd.
