Would you be willing to tell us about your choices and thought process for these pieces? The details and symbolism are so interesting, and I'd love to hear more! Iāve been really busy lately and havenāt opened Tumblr in a while, so Iām sorry for the late replyā¦ These are actually drawings I made a long time ago, and unfortunately Iāve already forgotten lots of meanings behind themš¢š¢š¢š¢. Even if I did, I feel like it would be a bit weird to explain those hints too clearlyā¦ I donāt really like to emphasize my interpretationā¦ā¦I really prefer it when viewers are free to think and feel whatever they want from my work š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
But Iāve always been drawn to the kind of gender-neutralļ¼ļ¼ļ¼quality Eddie brings to the characters he playsā¦ so when I draw him, I consciously try to emphasize those traits. At the time, I was really into Golden Age illustrators and some more traditional artists, and I was sort of trying to learn from themā¦ so I guess I ended up combining the two a bit?
Anyway, it turned out better than I expected! The vulnerability that many of Eddieās characters carry (does that sound weird?) clearly fits this theme really wellš„ŗš„ŗ Btw I am so into his eyesā¦..you can probably tell I spent a lot of time drawing them š¢š¢š¢š¢
