as a teen, i was constantly harassed by adults enforcing ''dress codes'' on me. I very much experienced this as sexual harassment. I think this is one of many cases where people would more easily understand this as sexual harassment if I described it as if it happened to an adult.

imagine being on your lunch break, and your supervisor comes over to your table, tells you to stand up in front of everyone. they draw everyone's attention to your thighs. they tell you that you have broken the dress code because of the length of your shorts. they tell you to go change (so you do not get the rest of your lunch break). they do this every single day at lunch. every day. so you read the whole dress code front and back, and you choose your clothing carefully to not break it. you bring a cloth tape measure with you to work because they will not believe you. this time when your supervisor tells you that you're breaking dress code, you pull out your tape measure and show that you are within the limit. your supervisor says "I bet you wouldn't want me to bring you to the boss and let him measure it, would you?" it's clearly a threat: if you don't obey then you will be put alone in a room with your boss and he will touch your thighs. you don't know how to respond. you're taken out of lunch again.

this was my experience at school. replace supervisor with "teacher" and boss with "principal." this was sexual harassment. fuck dress codes.

okay. first, let’s get the definition of fetishize.

that is not a lot of people, is it? i think it would be obvious to conclude that there is no correlation between ‘dark desires’ and acting on them. therefore, no harm.

saying fiction effects how we ACT destroys accountability on individuals who do act on it. it throws the accountability onto the person who made the media they consumed.

So I just fetched myself some cookies from the kitchen (my cookies/I bought them) there were only three left in the container so I was taking the entire thing upstairs. I decided to give my sister one because she hasn't really had any, and I prefer to consume in twos (ocd) so if I gave her one I would have two left >w<) But then my father asks if he can have one, which I didn't want to share because for one he has been eating most of them anyways– so I tell him no and immediately get hit with crippling anxiety that if I don't share with him something bad will happen. So I give him a cookie and then force him to listen to me (badly) retell a fairytale.

Once upon a time there lived a couple in the woods who had three sons, the youngest of which was called Boots. Every day the father would go into the forest to chop firewood but one day he blew out his back and could no longer do the job, so the couple sent their oldest son into the woods. He was chopping for a little while when he got hungry and decided to sit down and eat the lunch his mother packed him, a loaf of bread some meat and cheese and a flask of wine. As he was eating an old man appears and asks if the oldest son could spare some food.

'I cannot! For if I did I would no longer have enough for myself. Away with you old man before I tear out your beard!' the older brother says and the old man turns him into a rock and then disappears.

The following day the oldest brother had not returned so the couple sent the middle brother out into the woods to chop wood. He was out there for a time before he also got hungry, and the middle brother sat down and laid out the lunch his mother had packed for him, which was equally as rich as his brothers before him. As he was eating the old man appears and asks if he might share with him because he is so hungry.

The middle brother laughs and says 'I cannot! For if I did, what would I have left for myself? Away with you old man, before I poke out your eyes!' the old man harumphs and turns the middle brother into a stump and then vanishes.

The next day the couple sent the youngest brother Boots off into the forest to chop wood, as both his brothers had disappeared and he was the only one for it. So Boots walks into the forest and starts to chop wood for quite a while until eventually he gets hungry. He sits down on a stump to eat the lunch that his mother had packed him– which was much sparser than his brothers. Half a loaf of stale bread, the burnt meat pickings and a flask of wine had the youngest to eat, but just as he was about to the old man appears. Once again he asks, could you please share with him a morsel?

Boots says 'Of course, the food will taste twice as fine when eaten in good company!' and shares it with the old man. Once they finish the old man thanks him and to reward Boots for his charity he turns his axe into pure gold and transforms the chopped wood into chests filled with treasure. Boots is overjoyed and takes his bounty home where he finds his brothers already waiting there for him.

And they live Happily Ever After, The End.

And I tell you this so that I could tell you that ocd is a little bitch that makes me think of this story whenever I don't share my food with others, regardless of circumstances :D

It's interesting how no one bats an eye when characters are murderers, cannibals, violent criminals, and horrible people. Graphic self harm, suicide, mutilation, gore, genocide, and slurs are all A-Okay. Yet the second someone draws two fictional brothers kissing each other, they deserve to be called out and burned at the stake.

Genuinely, why is the standard for ~morality~ so different for what is arguably the most "tame" taboo topic somebody could explore?

I see a new call out every day over some bullshit. "This guy draws incest" who fucking cares. They're not real people. "They're glorifying/romanticizing/fetishizing it!!" One of my main OCs is a violent sociopath and a serial killer. He's a fan favorite. Never once have I depicted him negatively or put out some disclaimer saying "THESE THINGS ARE BAD".

Generally, it's an unspoken understanding that artists and writers who depict things like murder are NOT okay with them IRL. So why exactly do people who draw incest automatically also get labeled as incestuous and condoning it??
