When it comes to money management advice, who is your money advisor? Who do you turn to for managing your hard earned money?

I couldn't think anyone more who would have your best interests at heart than your family and friends. However, when it relates to the subject of money, everyone is the expert. Many times whilst sitting at the dinner table with the extended family, I listen to the money advise on offer to the the family member who asked for the advise. But as I sit back, I ask myself a question "If they know about money, why are they almost in the same financial situation?" Are they offering advise on the basis they would rather say something than say nothing at all?

So is it good using other people's money? But of course!

I am sure we all have had some form of experience using other people's money. However, what I am referring to, is using the bank's money (or another Financial Institution) which in turn is really using other people's money! Yet, the continual media reviews and most money advisor's recommend, not to use the credit card.

Believe it or not, I remember the day when the credit card was first being introduced. In Australia, it was advertised under the name of a'Bankcard.' I first disagreed with the idea that a simple plastic card would make life so much easier. In case you were wondering how long ago that was; almost 30 years ago! If I remember correctly I told the salesman _ I like to see how much money I have and see where I will spend it_ and his reply was _But you will on your credit card statement._ What he didn't say was, I would not see the credit card statement until 30 days from the end of the month.

That was the day of what I term _Easy Money._ Now I see people (myself included) have more than one credit card for reasons in case the first credit card didn't work at the time of purchase. I also find it interesting that personal outstanding debt has also increased from that time. And I am not speaking small numbers but quite significant! Now I am not saying it is all due to the credit card but I'll bet it is a major reason.

I go back to the title of this blog _Credit Cards - See No Evil?_ In my opinion, no I don't believe so. Its just the way the world is heading and soon enough the credit card will also become part of history as well. I believe the smart phones of the future will become the new credit card. And personally I cannot wait. Because going back 30 years (in my opinion alone) the banks knew the culture or should I say the behaviour of their clients (us) an that we would spend more but have no disciplines in place to monitor that control. How could we as they took that control away from us and introduced their rules as to when that information would be available to us.

But with the power of the smart phones our money is back in our control and at any one time, we can see exactly where our money is and choose to do what we can with it. Therefore the credit card is not an evil. Easy Money became too easy and our money disciplines got lost along the way. It was never the credit card but the misuse of the card that created the evil. And that was us!
