I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like you’re not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. You’re not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. You’re not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. You’re not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Don’t let your ego get in the way.

i love that margaret didn't get her "happy ending" with donald. yes, it was a classic rushed into war time marriage. but there are a lot of those on the show. but he was beneath her, and after the flush of new love she realized it and stood up for herself. for a woman to get divorced-at her own instigation-in 1952 and fight for her rights and then go on and reembrace her raw sexuality? to recommit herself to the army-her one true love-and become Major Maragret Houlihan, RN and not "hot lips" or "frank's girlfriend" or "mrs lieutenant colonel" is sure something to put on t.v. in the late 70s.

To take that step back and just be human for a moment.

Not Kalim Al-Asim the eldest son of the Asim family.

Not Kalim the dorm leader of Scarabia.

Not Kalim the future heir to his family's business.

Just Kalim. The boy who can get tired and who needs a minute to feel. The boy who can feel hurt and get sad and break down like everyone else. When Kalim is with you, there's no need to continuously smile. To keep that party vibe alive and be that friendly presence 24/7. With you there's a place of refuge. You handling Kalim with care is something he needs. Because when you care you don't expect anything from him. Don't expect him to be happy all the time. Your care, your tender steady presence is something he craves. When the world gets too much and he has a hard time saying no. When words cut a little deeper then they usually would and he forces himself to smile and laugh along. When it's just a little bit heavier than he can carry, your care and kindness is what makes him feel more grounded. Is what keeps him feeling human and truly seen.

It's this care, this patience and willingness to let him live normally for a few quiet moments that makes him love you more than anything in the world. Because you don't see the heir, the boy who's constantly smiles and an unstoppable ray of sunshine. You see Kalim, in everything that he is. And that means more to him than anything else.
