“I don’t have ‘parts’ like other people seem to. I have a sense of myself as being different at different times, feeling younger, or feeling aggressive or withdrawn or panicked, and it’s as if I’m watching myself at times like this. Things come out of my mouth, stuff I’m saying and I don’t know why I’m saying it. I can watch everything that I’m saying and doing, but it’s like I can’t do anything about it and I don’t know what’s going to happen next. These other ‘parts’ of me aren’t clear though – they’re not distinct. They all respond to my name. We feel ‘younger’ at these times, but I couldn’t put an age on it. A lot of people don’t even realise that I’ve changed – I just get told that I’m moody or something like that. But I know it’s more than that. It doesn’t feel like ‘me’, and when I’m like that I can remember things that I don’t remember the rest of the time, although I’m always worried that I’m making it up. But also when I’m like that, I can’t do other things I normally can, like tell the time. I can just stare and stare at my watch and I know I should be able to figure it out but I just can’t. It’s really weird.”

I talk to many people who say things like "oh I have trauma but I don't have PTSD", but then when I talk to them a little more I realize that they most likely do, they just can't recognize it as such due to how lacking PTSD awareness is, even beyond the whole "it's not just a veteran's disorder" thing.
The main reason they think they don't have PTSD usually has to do with flashbacks and nightmares, either they have one but not the other or have neither. But here's the thing, those are only two symptoms out of the 23-odd recognized symptoms. Flashbacks and nightmares are two of the five symptoms under Criterion B (Intrusion), which you only need one of for a diagnosis. The other three symptoms are unwanted upsetting memories, emotional distress after being reminded of trauma and physical reactivity after being reminded of trauma (i.e. shaking, sweating, heart racing, feeling sick, nauseous or faint, etc). Therefore you can have both flashbacks and nightmares, one but not the other, or neither and still have PTSD.
In fact, a lot of the reasons people give me for why they don't think they have PTSD are literally a part of the diagnostic criteria.
"Oh, I can barely remember most parts of my trauma anyway." Criterion D (Negative Alterations in Cognition and Mood) includes inability to recall key features of the trauma.
"Oh but I don't get upset about my trauma that often because I avoid thinking of it or being around things that remind me of it most of the time." Criterion C (Avoidance) includes avoiding trauma-related thoughts or feelings and avoiding trauma-related external reminders, and you literally cannot get diagnosed if you don't have at least one of those two symptoms.
"Oh I just have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, but I don't have nightmares." Criterion E (Alterations in Arousal and Reactivity) includes difficulting sleeping outside of nightmares.
"But I didn't have many/any trauma symptoms until a long time after the trauma happened." There's literally an entire specification for that.
Really it just shows how despite being one of the most well-known mental illnesses, people really don't know much about PTSD. If you have trauma, I ask you to at least look at the criteria before you decide you don't have PTSD. Hell, even if you don't have trauma, look at the criteria anyway because there are so many symptoms in there that just are not talked about.
PTSD awareness is not just about flashbacks and nightmares.
Things that can happen in DID/OSDD but people don’t talk about them as much:
An alter being co-conscious or influencing you without you knowing.
Being aware of a co-con alter but not knowing who they are.
Having difficulty telling apart your inner experiences. (Was that an alter or was I just feeling differently or was I just daydreaming?)
Having difficulty identifying your own emotions. (I feel “something”)
Knowing how to do something yet feeling like you don’t or shouldn’t know how to do it. (How do I know how to use this phone? I feel like it’s 1998 when I didn’t know what a phone was yet.)
Being in a familiar place/situation yet feeling confused, like it’s unfamiliar. (I’ve lived in this house for 7 years but I feel like this is my first time ever being in it.)
Being confused that your body is smaller/taller than you thought.
Feeling or being unable to do things that you normally can do at other times. (I just couldn’t drive the other day. I don’t know how. I just forgot how to do it.)
Things that happened a few days ago feel like months ago, or things that happened months ago feel like a few days ago.
Experiencing pain, headaches, visual impairment, or other physical symptoms that doctors can’t find a cause for.
Waking up as a different alter than the one who went to bed.
A co-conscious alter being able to influence or take control of certain body parts (like using the arms to hold & comfort you).
Being unable to tell if you’re dreaming or awake.
Feel free to add on!
She ain't even subtle anymore lmao
had these images attached
she's outright saying she believes queer people are murderers when all we want is to be treated equal. from the murders of queer people, we know murder does not create equality

Oh, this immediately set off antisemitic and fascist alarms in my head.
That isn't a dog whistle, that's an air siren.
being a parent at all ≠ automatically a morally good thing
caring about something at all in any way and amount ≠ automatically a morally good intentioned thing
terrible parents exist both intentionally or unintentionally. and people can "care" about things in ways that are actually selfish, conditional, possessive, unhealthy, and have ulterior motives and for the personal benefit equaling in their value for it, etc
just something I'd like for people to understand when it comes to Eggdad lol
i feel like people are getting way too nice to tumblr staff right now. i don't think all of them are bad obviously, and i know their quirky jokes are funny, but i also feel like they're rapidly commercializing the site and killing the atmosphere and usability of it in the process. we can't keep blorboifying them we need to instill fear in their hearts. hope this helps!
don't get me wrong it's the nature of capitalism and i'm not against putting some kind of monetary stuff on it. i'm not against blazing, or even tumblr plus, or the mart or anything. it's the fact that they're putting trackers on the links and making it so going directly to a blog is so much harder, it's making it so you can't read full posts logged out, it moved the tumblr mart button to where the BLOGS button was for like, ever, it replaced the search with tumblr live, and again- i'm not like "against tumblr live," but you're completely killing the flow of how the app is supposed to work. you're making it harder to search and see your own blog than it is to spend money on a site that can't even fix its bot problem. ridiculous.
People will tell you that emotional abuse isn’t real and what you’re dealing with isn’t that big a deal and you’re just exaggerating, but let me tell you something.
If you’ve ever been wary of everyone you know, even people you trust, because you’re expecting them to get angry with you over literally anything, make fun of you, or start making threats, something’s wrong.
If you’ve ever had to plan things in anticipation of a potential tantrum that you fear will be taken out on you, something’s wrong.
If you succumb to someone’s demands because you’re never sure if their threats are empty or legit and you just want to play it on the safe side, something’s wrong.
If you find yourself jumping at smaller noises in anticipation that they’re a warning sign for a tantrum, something’s wrong.
If you hide things - especially things that make you happy - because you’re so afraid that they’ll make fun of you for liking them, scold you for liking something they don’t, take them away, destroy them, or that they’ll defile them and ruin that love you have for them, something’s wrong.
If you find yourself being silent in the face of mild disagreements or thinly-veiled insults, rather than standing up for yourself because you just don’t want to start an argument and make things worse, something’s wrong.
If that very lack of standing up for yourself eventually leads to you never offering your opinion in any sort of discussion out of fear of ridicule or being scolded because that’s what you’re so used to, something’s wrong.
If you end up spending a lot of your time in your room keeping to yourself and keeping any trip outside of your room to an absolute minimum because you don’t want to risk putting one toe out of line and setting off a tantrum, yet you’re also aware that hiding out will also cause an issue and you’re probably just minimizing the risk instead of erasing it entirely, something’s wrong.
If you ever habitually glance outside the window to keep watch for your supposed abuser’s car to return from their work, errand or trip, and then heading to your room or other hiding place to keep out of their way, erasing any obvious signs that you’ve been out and about in the rest of your living space, something’s wrong.
If one of your greatest fantasies involves not a dream career or winning the lottery but instead an escape plan succeeding, something’s wrong.
If you could basically summarize your life as living in constant, subtle fear, Something. Is. Wrong.
Emotional abuse is very, very real, and it has lasting consequences that can affect people’s relationships, their jobs, and their lives all-around.
Don’t you dare tell me it isn’t real.
Okay but seriously please reblog because if I had seen this as a teenager maybe I would have booked it outta That Relationship instead of putting up with 14 years of hell and before the abuse escalated
thank you
It took me YEARS to overcome all the scars emotional abuse left. I don’t care how fake people say it is, it’s REAL.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Just about all of these apply to me……
You constantly bitch about the problems with canon because you hate canon and everything it stands for. I constantly point out the flaws with canon because I love taking things apart to see how they work and I love canon c:

Rare photos from trans history: Olympic runner and Zdeněk Koubek styles Cinda Glenn’s hair, 1936. Koubek was one of the first trans men to gain international fame after he transitioned in 1935.
this is inspiring weirdly complex emotions in me. like, it’s the fucking 1930s. I can hear the mid-atlantic newsreel voice. the fact that it plays coy with why he knows so much about women’s hairstyles, but like, as a funny surprise, not as shock and horror. the fact that it never deadnames him or uses incorrect pronouns. the fact that he looks like Mickey Rooney. idk it’s just making me feel feelings.
"mens section"... more like where the hot women shop
"womens section"... more like where the hot men shop
"soup section"... more like where's the clothes
the fact that we need 8 hours of sleep is ridiculous we should only need 4 and the other 4 should be used to be cozy in your bed and rub your legs together like a cricket and listen to music and think about your little scenarios
I’m not trying to turn your kids trans; that’s stupid. I’m trying to turn them into socialists.
#for real tho! their gender is their business but class struggle is everyone’s business
thank god i'll never be 15 again
