He watched her, listening to her remark about her old home. Well, if she had no problem with it, he didn’t see any reason to refute her claims.
“If you want, then so be it. It does seem rather tame, anyways.” The feline was even purring in his arms, so it must be enjoying the attention. “Just don’t let my brother Chitose see it. He is… rather strict.” If push came to shove, he could try reasoning with Chitose, too, but he much rather avoid it escalating to that point. He didn’t want upset Miyako or his older brother Kazuya, anyways.
{ ☯ } — “I think it’s a good idea regardless. My mother used to tell me that you could judge a person’s heart by how kind they are to animals-- I like to remember that.” She pet the cat once more before turning around to head inside, “I’ll get some of the fish. I’ll be right back.”
She returned a few minutes later with pieces of fish on a small plate. “Bring him over here.” She called, sitting down on the porch’s steps. She set the plate down on the lower step, “Here you go little guy~”
“Nah, it’s fine. I was just taking a nap. Easier to do than on the street, right?” He slid off the branch, landing elegantly on his feet. Admittedly, that wasn’t all that hard to do, with the branch being lower to the ground and Kitsuchi being… well, abnormally tall.
Glancing down at her, he bowed slightly towards her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, though, Miss. Name’s Kazama Kitsuchi. Hopefully I didn’t give you too much trouble.” He gave her a semi-apologetic, semi-flirtatious grin.
{ ☯ } — So... she was right then. Kazama. That was Tomo’s last name too. Was this guy his cousin? His brother? His uncle? She didn’t know, and she didn’t know what to say either. Hi, we’re future family because I’m engaged to Tomo? She was at a loss...
“I-It’s no trouble at all Kazama-san. It’s nice to meet you too.” She shifted her weight from foot to foot. Should she just come right out and say it? No-- not yet. “I’m Yuzuki Miyako. Um... by any chance, do you know someone named Tomo? Or um... Kazuya?”
Blinking a few times as the shorter one fixed the flowers, she had never worn on before so had not kept it in mind they could slip. Though a small grin she shook her head lightly.
“We need to stop getting so busy that we vanish for days on end on each other,” she joked trying to make sure the floral arrangement she wore did not fall. “Though while a bit hard to see form here I bet it’s lovely. Seems life got a hold of you as well?”
{ ☯ } — Her cheeks felt warm and her heart squeezed. She wished for that too, because Rei was one of her few friends and one she cared for dearly. “I know, I’m sorry. A lot of things have happened-- a lot of exciting things!” Her voice was bright, her mind going back to her time with Tomo.
“I believe you’ve met Tomo-kun before right? He's a traveller that stopped by in Kyoto for a few months.” She moved to sit down beside Rei on the grass, “We’ve gotten really close over the time. He um-- He asked me-- We’re engaged now.” She puttered out. As weird as it still felt to say, it brought her great joy and was one of the happiest things in her life.
Her eyes followed to where she was pointing. It was a fairly simple pot, she remembered her father not being very happy with the results but it was still good enough to sell so he put it up in the shop anyway.
“Yes of course!” Suzume replied with a smile as she turned to go retrieve the piece that was requested, carefully she had took the pot from it’s place on the shelf and brought it over to her, holding it up so she could see it.
“Is this what you’d like? Or you can continue to look around if you wish.” Suzume suggested to her.
{ ☯ } — Miyako waited politely as the girl got the brown pot for her. When she brought it closer, Miyako leaned forward, her large eyes roaming over the simple but practical pottery. She knew her mom would like it, so she couldn’t go wrong with buying this one. Her instincts were right yet again!
“It’s beautiful, I love it.” She chirped, giving a small nod of her head. “It’s a lot like the one we have at home so I’m playing it safe. How much does this go for usually?”
He smiled at her and closed the book he was reading. “Alright. I’ve been meaning to stretch my legs a bit.” He turned his head, hesitating slightly before, blushing, he pecked her on the lips. How she could so easily love him when he still stumbled and hesitated at times was beyond him.
“Do you have any particular place you want to visit or…?” He let the question hang, looking at her with curiosity. Tonight he was giving her total and complete control over where they would go.
{ ☯ } — She loved it when he would surprise her with an unexpected kiss or touch. She wished he would do it more often, but she supposed it wouldn’t be ‘unexpected’ anymore would it? She giggled softly, pulling her hair behind her ear.
She wrapped her arms around him tighter, nuzzling his neck as she spoke, “I think I saw a garden earlier today. We walked by it so I didn’t go inside, but it looked really pretty. You’ve seen those big ones before right? With the water and the trees and all the colours? I love them.”

“Okay, okay! We’re going!” he laughed as she pulled him along. She certainly was excited; just seeing her this giddy made his own heart race in excitement. What sort of power did she have on him?
Picking up the pace, he trotted along side her. He held her hand a bit tighter as they approached the crowds. “Miyako, stay close to me, okay?”
{ ☯ } — The way his hand tightened around hers and voiced his concern was so sweet. It made Miyako’s chest warm in a pleasant way. “I will, don’t worry. I wouldn’t want you getting lost.” She joked, looking up at him with playful eyes.
“People usually set up food stalls and some games by the way. The play is the main event in the afternoon, but the rest of the day people go around having fun. It’s almost like a festival.”
Izumi saw the younger woman and smiled. It truly had been a while. As soon as she reached her, the kunoichi extended a hand and ruffled her hair. She was always such a nice girl, so it was the least she could do.
“You, too… look well… Where have… you been?” Izumi asked.
{ ☯ } — The older woman ruffling her hair caused Miyako to let out a few giggles, pink dusting her cheeks. It felt wonderful to receive acknowledgement from Izumi-san, even if it was just a simple gesture like that.
She listened as the woman spoke, waiting for her to finish before she replied, “I’ve been doing some travelling with my future husband. We’re back in Kyoto because I missed my family a little.” Truthfully she also needed to rest. She had never gone outside of Kyoto before so their extensive travels exhausted her physically.
“What have you been up to Izumi-san?”
With You
He took the chance to kiss her fully on the lips when she looked up at him. A little payback for teasing him. Pulling back, he grinned at her despite the flush of red on his cheeks. “I think you’re a little vixen sometimes, making me worry all the time. But then again, I like that part of you, so it’s a price I’m willing to pay.
{ ☯ } — The girl was caught by surprise, her heart stammering when her boyfriend kissed her and spoke those smooth words. Sometimes she wondered if Tomo was aware of his charms at all. “K...Keep paying it then.” She mumbled, stuffing her face against his chest. A smile pulled at her lips, but she didn’t move from her place, “Besides, you like foxes so I’m not going to change then.”
A small chill went through his body as she spoke. “W-Well when you put it that way…” he mumbled now feeling guilty about skipping out on his training. “But its hard doing the same thing everyday!” Miyoshi said as he tried to defend his actions.
{ ☯ } — Well she couldn’t exactly argue that. “I agree. It’s hard, and sometimes boring.” She fiddled with her fingers as she spoke, “I’ve been working at a tea shop since I was fourteen. Getting up early almost everyday, being away from home all day... It’s really tiring sometimes.” She glanced towards him with a smile, “I don’t know what your job is Yutaka-san and I don’t intend any judgement on you by what I’m saying. I just believe that doing something even when you don’t want to is a true test of responsibility and honour.”
“yeah, yeah. Whatever….” Vlad sighed as he rubbed the back of his head.
“My name is Vlad. I suppose I could say the same…” the girl sure was cheerful. But she didn’t look a pirate or a criminal so maybe it was his conscious tell him to do something. He just hoped he could get this over with.
{ ☯ } — “Hello Vlad-san, and I’m glad!” She wore a smile and tried to keep a friendly atmosphere. She almost felt guilty for asking him, but she would be out of his hair soon and they would go their separate ways. “I was wondering if you knew an inn around here. Maybe something not too expensive, but not cheap and run down either?”
“He already has a kitsune mask. Several, actually. He likes collecting them. Different designs and purposes and such. Honestly, I think he just makes up excuses on hoarding everything fox-related.”
Crossing her arms, she grinned at Miyako. “Well, if you’re so insistent on having my advice, just do exactly what I tell you, and I guarantee success. After all, why go for simple when you can go for the best?” After all, her dorky brother was so easy to please. But she knew a method to make him go through the roof in terms of being a total dork. Never settle for anything less than the best, as her father would put it.
{ ☯ } — Miyako immediately deflated when the other said that Tomo had several kitsune masks already. She had thought that would be a good gift because of his love of foxes, but it would seem she underestimated how much he loved foxes... She didn’t think he would have so many masks already.
For some reason, she had a sneaking suspicion she was being set up for something. Yachiru’s expression was very mischievous-- almost like Miyako’s when she was being cheeky. “I...I don’t know if I can do exactly what you tell me to do, but I’d like to know what you have in mind.”
“My name is Wyvern D. Drake, but you can call me Drake if you want. Nice to meet ya, Miyako-san…” Seems Wano was a lot more friendlier than most places the straw hats have been at. Really, he was excited to check this place out now
“Aww, thank you. And don’t worry, I promise not to break anything…” he smiled.
{ ☯ } — The young priestess was happy to have some company. It was normal for her to spend days alone, tending to the grounds that rarely had visitors except for certain times of year. There were animals though! Very sweet animals that came to her for food when she set up offerings at the shrine.
“Thank you Drake-san, I appreciate it.” She smiled, bowing her head. When she looked up again her eyes were filled with enthusiasm, “Have you ever visited a shrine before?”

{ ☯ } — She approached the new customer to take his order, travelling to the very corner of the shop with her small notepad in hand. Lone wolf is what she thought when she looked at him. She didn’t know how much truth there was to her that, but she developed this idea that certain personality-types sat at specific places in the cafe. People that preferred to be alone and not approached typically took a seat isolated in the corner. Nobody had proven her theory wrong yet.
“Hello.” She said with a smile when she stopped in front of his table, trying to keep the air light, “Do you know what you’d like to order or would you like some recommendations?”
❀ ➝ | Miou gave her a smile. “No it’s completely fine! Besides … I don’t live too far from there!” She probably had to walk further than Miyako did, since she was just visiting a shop that one of her friends had recommended. She wasn’t usually out in these areas …
Staring at the intersection for about half a second, she then realized a way she could hit both points — those being Miyako’s place and her own — without having to go way off her route.
“We can just go left to your place, then I’ll be on my way!”
{ ☯ } — This girl was so kind! If Miyako had more time she would love to talk to her for longer and even make friends! “Thank you so much! I’d love to repay you somehow. --Oh!” Miyako began to rummage through her satchel before pulling out a chocolate candybar. She smiled, offering it to the girl, “Do you like sweets? I have a sweet tooth myself~ I think this is one of the best brands so I’m sure you’d like it.”

He glances up at the sky – the stars were bright, the sky was littered with them. It wasn’t like Haku to head out of the house but he needed some things from the store. It was dark and the streets were pretty much empty. There was nothing to worry about right now. He had a hat in his hand, something he would put on as soon as he came to the store.
It always made him look so stupid. He was dressed in traditional clothes yet had a baseball cap on his head. “At least it’s cool out.” He mumbles to himself, shaking his head.
{ ☯ } — Miyako had been heading home from her part-time cafe job, enjoying the nice night stroll. She was precautious of course, keeping herself alert so she wouldn’t find herself in any troublesome situations. As strange as it might be, she carried her heirloom tanto in her satchel.
As she was walking she began to approach a taller figure that was walking in the opposite direction. The street-lights illuminated the area enough for Miyako to see he wore traditional garbs and there was something... strange protruding from his head. Was she just seeing things?
It didn’t deter her though. She didn’t stray from her path and kept her curious eyes on him as she got closer.
