At first, he’d test her.
Speaking close enough to tempt a response. Asking provocative questions just to watch her choose self-control instead of reaction.
Because unlike him — unlike his Queen of Hearts curse that imposes authority through command — her curse seduces people into surrendering themselves willingly.
That distinction would matter deeply to him. And William loves people who choose their suffering consciously.
Not because he enjoys pain for its own sake—but because he believes restraint reveals true desire.
After that, he would stop teasing her silence as much. Instead, he’d begin treating it almost reverently.
Like a dangerous thing she keeps leashed for everyone else’s sake. Which only makes him want to hear her voice more.
Occasionally, he’d still smile and say things clearly meant to provoke her.
