So. There are some instances where I can see them interacting for a while without Malik absolutely losing it and killing him, but that’s only if Zolf can keep his mouth shut and... well we already know - Malik is working so hard on his anger, in his Main verse he has come to a meditative state where he does not allow for anger to harm his self preservation anymore. He does not think of the war, of State Alchemists, or even his brothers death at all and only looks toward the future. Because if he dwells on those things too much he’ll just spiral into his hatred again and won’t be of any use to his people’s revival ( to him, at least )

Even seeing him, talking to him, so long as Zolf doesn’t talk about Ishval ... I think it can work. There’s also the fact that Zolf wants that satisfaction of killing him, or being killed by him. He wants Malik to become so angry that he breaks and kills again. Malik knows this. So I think, I believe, that no matter what, Malik isn’t going to try killing him... for now.

it depends, in both the manga and ‘03 their ‘relationship’ is so toxic and very very scary there’s no telling what could happen if others get involved.

can i get a uhhhh Mortal Enemies to friends with Mutual Goals for the Greater Good? Little bit of ‘ I’ll never forgive you for what you did but i am willing to look past my grievances, my hatred, the horrible and unhealable wound in my heart to work with you for my People’s sake’ ?? Because?? Malik really and truly hated both of them, but especially Roy.

All the War Hero stories did nothing but put a demonic presence over the name of the Flame Alchemist, but I can see his perceptions slowly melting down near completely after the end comes and he’s just wanting to pursue his dreams of rebuilding his country and. Roy wants the same thing. So when they work together it goes from this pure hatred and vengeful emotions to more of a different sort of ‘friendship’ than you might think of. I don’t think Malik would ever forgive Roy for his part in the war, but I understand to some level how he could develop a kind of friendship with him. At least, far off in the future.

Their levels of pride is so unreal dude Two more unmovable people to either pine or very willingly help - ok so with Satsuki being how she is, I can see her taking her usual approach to Malik at first, maybe wanting to take him with her to her country or wanting to hear more about what happened in Ishval and just what sort of country Amestris is. or just wanting to Fight him ( i still have that thread i’ll be replying to soon dfdgdsf u know )

Their characters are both about the same fabric of cloth, they seem so similar to me at least. Stern both when they need to and don’t need to, soft with family, highly goal oriented, extremely powerful in both mind and body - very intense people and hard shells to break through but I can squint and see a good comradery there. if it could just be two hardened people learning how to navigate the world after the Promised Day, giving her safety or a good passage out of Amestris orrr it could even develop into some slow burning romantic fling while she’s in amestris - all up in the air.

(for romance) Our muses’ relationship is: still exciting and lively | stable | starting to feel awkward | in jeopardy | romantic, but the sexual attraction is fading | sexual, but the romantic attraction is fading | toxic and self-destructive | unrequited, with my muse pining after yours | unrequited, with your muse pining after mine | determined by fate ( I don’t usually cut off romantic-ish prospects before proper threads go so this is a big *gestures around* )

I usually leave most romantic things high, high up in there bc i really enjoy plotting them out pretty extensively and ooo he needs it , but, everything else??

* So Malik considers Ishvalans his family. So his relationship, the way he feels about them in ‘generally speaking’ terms would be ‘ This is an ishvalan. I don’t care if they don’t know our culture, this is a member of our family ’ - which can be off-putting in some cases, but he wouldn’t push it or even really voice it too much. But that’s where his heart is. His attitude and interest towards them is bumped up from his usual 3/10 to more of a 7/10, if that makes sense.

He will in fact be instantly more nicer to her than he would to, say, an Amestrian he’s already known for months. You know?

Moreover, he would want to help her. Do everything he can to teach their culture... He’d even want to know more about their kind of alchemy!

His Main verse revolves past the events of the Promised Day, with this tag ( Post Promised Day: ( ☀ A Positive Flow | Guide the Wound to Heal ( Post Promised Day ) ) He is in Ishval 99% of the time and is working very hard to improve not only the relations between Amestris and Ishval but also the surrounding countries. Just as well, he has his own home and is slowly starting to genuinely smile again especially when he gets to be around the children. Watching them smile and thrive, play, be happy - yes.

I would be open to having a Ship in this verse as well, considering he is mentally healing and doing just what he’s been wanting to do - understand that it will not only take time but if your muse is really interested, it would take many many threads plotting it all out. Right now, as it’s early in this blog, he is quite literally putting his People and their well-being above all else, even himself. So... your muse would take a backseat - again, unless we plot pretty extensively about it, just a heads up

So as we saw with Mei, he’s actually very well adjusted around children and would make a pretty ‘good’ father himself. I’ve said before that he would most likely settle down only after the Promised Day is over. With lots of mental stability and healing, I think Malik would make an excellent father with children of his own - though it all depends on the type of person he settles down with. He may have trouble opening his heart, and even more trouble saying ‘i love you’, but I think it’d be possible for him.

Found Family with children is also a possibility, for children who had lost their parents after the war, I imagine he’d go far out of his way to make sure they’re well taken care of and loved.
