She furrowed her brows, “No..don’t be. Please.. I’m quite thankful you did. I understand its hard for you yet you shared it to me.” she says with a slight smile along her lips.

As she was about to say more, the pain in her head stopped her. She intantly placed her palm against her forehead and groaned, lowering her head and shutting her eyes tight.

The blond’s head jerked, and he crossed the room, worried. He reached out and gently touched her shoulder, chewing his lip. “Should I get the doctor?” Mikaela muttered, guilt bubbling to the surface again. He pulled his hand away and took a step back, not wanting to hurt her more than he had.

“Don’t be an idiot, Mika!” She was fuming mad now. She immediately ran over and adjusted his arm over his shoulder. “The demon weapons act like poison for us. You can’t just recover from it that quickly!” Krul dragged Mika along, trying her best to keep him up, but her tiny figure wouldn’t really do so. She heard gun fires in the distance. It seemed to be getting closer and closer. That can’t be good.

Ah but telling Mika not to be an idiot is like telling a horse not to stomp at flies. The blond reluctantly allowed the queen to help him, leaning his weight against her. She was tiny, and it was awkward, but she was strong enough that it worked, in a strange sort of way. Mikaela grit his teeth as he heard the sounds of fighting growing closer. They wouldn’t be out of the way in time. 

“The fight is almost here... Just go.” He growled, trying to move his arm away from her. He was already called her dog. What would the nobles say if they witnessed the queen getting pulled into a fight because her dog got hurt?

“…” Guren falls into silence, processing the vampire’s words. Of course. Of course. 

“Sorry Mikaela,” he says, stressing the vampire’s name, as if teasing the boy about some trivial thing. “You can’t take Yuu from us. Not now, and not ever.”

The corner of his lips twitched slightly, but otherwise Mikaela didn’t move. Simply stared at Guren, thinking. 

“He’s not yours to keep.” Mika growled, cracking his knuckles. It might be threatening, if he didn’t look like he was about to fall over. After a long pause, the vampire sighed. “If you won’t give him to me, then I want to be part of your little resistance. I want to stay with Yuu.”

Yuichiro was admittedly shit at this whole comforting thing - and felt like a hypocrite for preaching something he himself didn’t really do either. But he wrapped his arms around Mikaela, holding him and offering whatever little comfort he could. “You’ve gotta find something new to focus on, find a new reason to live than for the guilt and revenge for those who died. Protect what matters now, focus on that! Make that your new reason to live!”

“You’re all I have left...” It was so quietly whispered, that had they not been in dead silence, Yu would never have been able to hear it. “I’ll protect you till the day I die, I won’t lose my family anymore.” Mika’s voice held a bitter tone, and despite the low volume, it was firm. This was a promise the blond was making to himself. And no way could he be talked out of it.

“I’m not saying you shouldn’t remember them - but do you think they’d want you to feel guilty over it? They’d want you to live, move on and live for them since they can’t,” he murmured the words quieter, placing a hand on Mika’s arm. “It sucks, and it hurts - but feeling guilty and thinking about all the what-ifs, will never change anything.”

The blond nearly flinched at his brother’s touch, biting his lip. Maybe Yuu was right, but he couldn’t give this up. It’s what kept him fighting, kept him from giving up. It’s what kept him human. Mikaela didn’t reply, instead taking a step closer to Yuu and resting his forehead on his brother’s shoulder. He couldn’t possibly explain it, and even if he could, the raven-haired teen wouldn’t understand.

“The only person to blame here is that asshole that actually killed the, which is that compost pile, Ferid,” he spat out furiously. “You blaming yourself is never going to bring them back and I’m sure they’d hit you too for living your life feeling forever guilty.”

“Ferid may have actually killed them, but I led them to it...” Mika pouted, turning his face away from his brother. “Someone should feel bad and remember it! And we know Ferid won’t!”

Yuichiro hit his brother on the top of his head with his first and continued to scowl at him. “Right - and wallowing in guilt is definitely going to bring them back, right?”

The knock on the head was a surprise. Mikaela hadn’t expected that, and he stared at Yu. “... Well... No... But somebody has to take responsibility for them!”

   “Mika! It’s wasn’t your fault, you can’t keep thinking of it like it was! You were a stupid a kid - it happens. Your heart was in the right place, some times things just aren’t in our control!” Yuichiro scowled stubbornly, feeling his heart hurt for Mika, who blamed himself.

“Whether or not I had good intentions, everyone’s still dead... Good intentions won’t bring them back.” Mika muttered darkly, refusing to share or drop his guilt.

The vampire’s grip is strong, and Guren can’t find the strength to tear away.

“Funny,” he says, acid dripping from his voice, “I though I’ve lost my chance for redemption a long time ago.”

The vampire doesn’t seem interested in attacking, but Guren can’t read his intentions. “What do you want?” he asks.

“You probably have.” Mika replied, smiling harshly. He dropped Guren’s wrist, rocking back onto his heels. The vampire cocked his head to the side, pretending to think about it. 

“What do I want...?” He muttered, meeting Guren’s gaze. “You’re Yuu’s commander, aren’t you? That’s what I want. Yuu.”
