//I have no idea how to tweak the continuity that Vivian was a part of Team Star Fox once upon a time. In Star Fox 2, Peppy was much younger, closer to Fox's age, meaning they were possibly generational contemporaries as opposed to the modern canon, with Peppy being old enough to be Fox's father. If Viv was part of Team Star Fox in the modern continuity, it'd likely be during James' time. Which is fine by me, but possibly harder to RP.

If folks are willing, I can add to my current headcanons without compromising what I established based on modern canon: During a critical time during the early years of Team Star Fox, when other folks needed to join the Team (possibly the beta Star Fox 2 pilots like Miss Sheep and Mr. Bull), Vivian was among the pilots to join. She may not be an expert in the cockpit, but she's fantastic backup, and in the ground field, a reliable medic. So why didn't she stay with the team? She got pregnant with Lucy. Or in a different timeline, after Lucy is born and Vivian temporarily joined Team Star Fox, her illness settled in to point of crippling her. It's flexible, really.

I'm willing to explore this with any other Star Fox RPer, Gen 1 or 2. I'd do 3 if she was alive then, pffff. Poor girl never got to meet Lucy's baby :C

I was thinking about practicing my version of Lucy but ... fuck it. My version of Vivían Hare.

So when the Nintendo gigaleaks took place and friends and I took a look at the dummied out Star Fox 2 sprites, we couldn’t help but notice a long-faced lady bunny among them. At first I speculated it would have been Lucy because of her long face in Command, but then I am reminded that in the continuity of the SNES games, Peppy was significantly younger. And given that the Japanese website for Star Fox 64 confirmed the existence of Vivian Hare then, I couldn’t help but scream at the idea that Star Fox 2 could have been the official debut of Peppy’s beloved, as characters that were to appear in that game (namely Star Wolf) would later appear in the N64 game instead when SF2 was dropped.

Of course, it’s all speculation, but you can’t convince me that Vivian could have been a Star Fox member alongside Miyu and Fay otherwise. I WON’T HAVE IT. Except I would have to because as far as I know, it’s retconned. A goddamn shame too.

The vixen let out a frustrated groan, spinning on her heel to face away from Vivian, still very much flustered as she crossed her arms.  ❝ … He is super cute, though. I have no chance. ❞

“Oh, don’t give me that, girlfriend,” she smirks, a glint of deviousness present in her eyes. Oh, no. “Clearly if he has a girlfriend already, we’ll just have you steal him away from her, now, shall we?” Oh, stars, is she serious? No one can really tell with someone as mischievous like Vivian. 

“Or maybe I’ll send him a message myself to get his attention for you?~” She then steps back, miming holding a transmitter while a hand sticks out to emulate sliding icons across a hard light screen. She mocks Vixy’s voice in the most horrible way possible. “‘Hello, James McCloud? My name is Vixy Reinard, and I’m a shy bean who wants to jump you!’” Vivy, no.

“Hahaaaaaa!! I knew it!~” Vivian teased as she laughs aloud, even louder than necessarily--if only so she can further embarrass the meeker Vixy. Not out of maliciousness, thankfully. She just loves getting a reaction from her. “He is really cute, though. Those shades can make any girl swoon, I’ll bet.” Her hip juts as she crosses her arms, grinning mischievously as she looks towards Vixy in the eyes. 

“Thinking of getting his attention anytime soon?~”

       “You know, I don’t think we’ve really had a chance to talk.”

        He was thinking out-loud, something the young vulpine did quite often. He turned a pencil between his fingers, mirroring the rhythm to a song he’d caught in the back of his mind. James smiled, peering over his sunglasses at fresh colored doe as was his way before offering her his hand.

     “Vixy talks about ya all the time.                           The name’s James McCloud–

                          –and yours is …?”

"For someone who hears about me all the time, you're quite short on memory, aren't you, Mr. McCloud?" the young doe chuckles as her nose twitches and her cotton-like tail wags playfully. She coyly leans forward, arms crossed as her ears flick to and fro while she grins. "Vivian Lapin. Cornerian Army Nurse Corps, or at least working on it." She leans back a bit, shoulder raised as she tilts her head back, though her eye contact never breaks. "You've earned quite a reputation. And the attention of quite a gaggle of girls." She pauses as her grin widens, seeing if her prodding would at least get a reaction from the famed James McCloud.

The vixen became instantly flustered, issuing a series of shushes.

She could go on with the same excuses she’d been giving for years as to why she chose not to pursue anyone: focusing on her career, no time to bother, she wasn’t interested … to name the few she’d been repeating like a broken record to the point that even she was sick of hearing herself say them. The truth was that Vixy, like so many other young vixen, had fallen smitten for a certain pilot and it was plainly obvious she was every time she’d managed to catch glimpses of him.

"Oohh, you're not fooling anyone, Vixy. Not me, not anymore, at least," the mint-colored doe teased as she leans aside, hip jutting as her cotton-like tail wags playfully. "So, is he who I think he is? Come on, girlfriend. Spill it! Let me hear all about him," she coos playfully. The way she leans forward, though, suggests she already knows the answer to what she's asking--what she's searching for isn't an inquiry to the question itself, but how Vixy would answer, if she would. And if she didn't? Well, Vivian will just have the squeeze all the juice out of Vixy every way she can.

//Sigh. I miss having a photo editor. Paintshop Pro borked on me for the last time. Right now, I'm downloading GIMP to see how it works, but eh. Given my past experiences with Photoshop and Corel, I'm not too optimistic.

I wanted to test out drawing Vivian without the tuft, as she is presented in Command. You know, maybe I'll keept it off. It distinguishes her a bit more from Lucy, as @selfish-swine thought I was drawing a tuftless Lucy instead. At least Viv has a rounder head.

Ignore the dark patch on the corner, that's my cellphone and lighting here blows.
