An aspect of The Hunting Wives show that is interesting to me is how quickly the protagonist, a white liberal (closeted) queer woman, assimilates into white conservative high society and values with only a token protest. She's alarmed at first about the NRA fundraiser but within no time at all she's joining hunts and has purchased her own gun; she tells her husband's boss his political speech was racist but flash forward and she's in the "in crowd" of the Hunting Wives who support those views and she's giving Margo advice to help her against political dirt digging. If it hadn't been for the murder charge she'd probably have kept right on jamming in her new environment, not speaking up, fitting in, driven by her desperation for connection and acceptance. To be clear this is a narrative feature, not a bug; it's what enables the story to happen. The show is full of messy, hypocritical, awful people, and that's part of what makes it popcorn-worthy. It's just. Wow, girl, that happened fast. You can cite all the factors that nudged her along but the theme of assimilation when it benefits her is the same.

oh my god THISSSS genuinely one of my favorite things depicted in the show its so interesting to see how easily she gives up her beliefs to fit in with these people that are so opposite in certain ways to what she is familiar with but like it’s not entirely because she was always a terrible person from the start but more because shes been living a life so contained and trapped having to hide herself and give up some of her autonomy that she’s genuinely desperate to find herself again and feel free and if becoming a part of this republican right wing housewife cult is what it takes then she’s actually willing to (which is crazy). I love how her story is twisted in the way that you’re watching her going from bad to worse. Sophie is truly not a redeemable character but shes very human and shes very interesting to watch like i got so mad at her sometimes but its soooo funny and entertaining to see how messy and stupid she can be but also how real some of her struggles are. I absolutely love this kind of character where you kinda wanna feel bad for them but they keep making the worst possible choices that prevent you from completely empathizing with them. i liked this show.

a/n; got sunburned as fuck and had a little blurb idea, if you wanna get the backstory better, check out "if i implore you could i be your lamb" but can be totally read without it

| you, misty and your favorite couple annie & hughie came up with a beautiful idea (every idea including all 4 of you never ended good) of going over the river to sunbath and swim. annie was sceptical at first, she still wasn't over the fact that hughie actually hired firecracker but misty was terrifyingly good at selling shit to people, even when she had no idea what is she selling. you on the other hand just hoped for snacks and uv.

misty insisted already in the car that she won't be reapplying any fucking sunscreen cause she is from florida. not even the sunny part of florida but you knew her too well to argue over that. her wearing your hat was enough of a success. so while hughie and annie were putting sunscreen over eachothers back, misty in a her swimsuit (that you made her take off 5 minutes before leaving, be cause you couldn't help yourself when she looked like that) with a now pretty visible hickey on her boobs, that made annie dramatically roll her eyes, laid down on a blanket in full sun. apparently, you were the only one there who could actually swim so you ended up drifting in the water yourself, every so often glancing at the rest to make sure nobody killed anyone yet.

good fourty minutes later, if not more you made your way back to the small beach and flopped down next to your unofficial girlfriend. misty lowered her sunglasses down and murmured a quiet "hi" when you handled her a water from the cooler. you could already notice that her nose was much more red and cheeks looked flushed even without your teasing comments.

- god you are red - misty almost squilled when you lifted the waist of her swim pants to reveal a big difference between her stomach and the covered skin. poor girl still wasn't used to casual affection.

- more like burning alive - you answered now actually concerned, your hand went to misty's head to make sure it's not too overheated. she leaned into your touch this time but still rolled her eyes at your comment.

- isn't it like a thing that redheads don't tan?

hughie's question quickly got answered and canceled because when all of you were back in the car, misty in your passenger seat visibly couldn't get comfortable. her short jeans were digging into her sunburned thighs, probably redder than her hair and lipstick that was mostly gone by now anyway. the rest of her body didn't look much better, she was wearing your tshirt now, the straps of her top were too tight on her burning arms. she wouldn't, of course admit anything out loud especially infront of annie. god forbid that, but you knew her to well when she started putting that camera-trained smile on whenever talking about how it will get brown by tomorrow. it won't but you kept your mouth shut, just running a very quick errand to buy aloe gel after dropping hughie and annie off.

firecracker was the clingiest person on the planet on a regular day but when she was in pain it was ten times more if it was even possible. now unfortunately as much as she wanted you to hold her she also kept wincing away. her whole body was burning hot and when you were putting cold aloe gel over her skin, barely brushing it with your fingers, she looked like she might actually cry. getting her to take a cold shower was a hard one and also helped maybe for fifteen minutes. she kept complaining about how she can't bend her knees and immediately apologizing for being mean. one thing about her was that she hated being a burden and would usually hide it under humour, so when she didn't even talk back at you starring at her practically naked body, you were sure it was going to be a long few days.

sun rolled down finally and the bedroom you spent most of the day was now pretty dimmed. both of you took a nap, sun and swimming drained quite a lot of energy. when you woke up, misty still red but less hot when you touched her was cuddled next to you. her face looked way more relaxed than before even when you brushed a strand of her hair away over the flushed cheeks, one of her arms was loosely wrapped around your waist and her legs were tangled around yours. she was literally a human heater right now but you couldn't care less. it would be probably smart to wake her up so she wouldn't complain about being in pain at 1am when she wakes up on her own but you liked your view too much. maybe besides her being so burned, definitely sunscreen is not a discussion next time.

i actually have no interest and no skill whatsoever to write fics but bro i wanted to read a long kinda character study fic about firecracker SO bad like she’s such an interesting character with so much fic potential and theres no one writing about it (that i know of) like i just wanted to read some events from her perspective or read about her growing up or just something more in depth in canon focusing on her……

ok so ive finished reading tmdoms some weeks ago and something that has been on my mind since is that scene where elena takes temp v yk…….. like im genuinely not the type of person that loves reading smut in long fics but that scene specifically was the first time in my life where i actually really wanted to read a smut scene and not really cause they were fucking and im a horny freak but more because i really wanted to read more about the shift in their dynamic with elena holding more power and control over maeve….like, it has been discussed before the way maeve has to “hold back” with elena because she’s human and all of that and i really feel like it would be so interesting to explore more how this affects them, not just in sex but like in other aspect of their dynamic as well (though what made me keep thinking about all of this initially was wanting to see what happened after ‘“Stop. Don’t just stand there and take it,” she spat.’ and ‘“I want to feel what it’s like when you don’t hold back.”’ LIKE YEAH MAEVE SHOW US)

im not saying this as a request or anything like it so please dont feel like im demanding you to write about it or whatever i just want to express how much i love your fic and how often im still thinking about it and mourning it because its over and i miss all of them….like, i cant move on from the boys but theres not much more fics about the characters im interested in so im just constantly thinking non stop about the show and about your fic….(but really i loved it (i think i’ve already said that too many times in your ao3 comment section

first off: thanks so much for sending this - it's always nice to hear kind words, but more to the point, it's incredible as a writer to hear reactions, what certain parts of my stories make you think or feel, so thank you for sharing!

re: requests or request-adjacent comments - don't feel bad; always welcome. even a flat out request is ok so long as it's understood that I might not fulfill it. but sometimes hearing what someone is interested in does inspire an idea I want to write, and it's kind of nice/flattering regardless :)

re: smut. I don't write it much anymore... there was a time in 2020 where I wrote a lot, idk what got into me, I think it was largely that I was writing for a fandom where smut was very popular (as in many, lol) and i wanted my fics to be popular... I have nothing against it but I generally prefer like, the sexy setup and "fade to black" as I did in the scene you mention, because that's where like 80% of the interest for me lies in sex scenes, while the actual play-by-play of who puts what body part where tends to feel awkward to write and harder to make actually, like, compelling. so that's largely why there's none of that in tmdoms.

BUT. I have good news...

this right here is basically what the fic I'm currently working on is about. it comes at it from a different angle... it's a prequel to TMDOMS, post-s3 but before the fic starts, exploring their dynamic while maeve is powerless.

that's what I'm trying to finish at the moment (it's been in my head for agesssssss, need to actually shape it properly though). so hopefully that might appeal?

I will say though that you now have me thinking more about what that temp v sex scene would've been like. no promises obviously, but it'll go around in my noggin, we'll see what happens... (this reminds me that I think i was planning a oneshot back when s3 was airing of elena on temp v + maeve = sex, I can't find it now, I don't think i got all that far in writing it, maybe I just deleted what I had written bc I repurposed it into TMDOMS, but one thing I do remember, was that my original concept for what power elena would get from Temp V was invisibility. going for what would be meaningful/ironic, since one of the biggest pain points for her was having to stay "invisible" while being with Maeve... lol. but I think what I came up with in TMDOMS is better, even if more boring on the surface. some lines i write i just feel like "WHOA, that's a great line", and i love it enough that I kinda force the scene around it... and one of those lines is: "That makes sense... the Supe you hate the most is me.")

god you just said everything i wanted to hear im kinda feeling like a dog hearing the words treat and outside…also omg you get me i feel the same about smut scenes, i also prefer when it just fades… the fun part is obviously the dialogue and context but the actual sex itself especially if it isn’t kinky or anything is just like 🤷‍♂️ i dont dislike it at all but i often feel like wanting to get past it so i can get back to the plot. smut is something i enjoy a lot more if it’s a oneshot instead of in a longfic.

im really excited for this upcoming fic bro i kept joking with a friend while reading tmdoms about how i felt like you were reading my mind because i strongly agreed with every headcanon part and the way you characterized everyone etc etc like how do you keep writing exactly what i want to read its incredible
