I enjoy a wide variety of media and art and I like to talk about it. I like stories about villains, sexual themes, the blending of the body and the weapon, monsters, and disastrous relationships. I am staunchly anti-censorship.

I write fanfiction (mostly pornography) that I post to AO3 as maskedbeliever.

I do a lot of other things with my life, but they are not for tumblr to know about.

As a polite forewarning, I can't be trusted to reliably tag things.

@dead-mans-house is my Abarat/Clive Barker fan blog that ocassionally detours into other horror stuff, especially horror literature like Stephen King and Thomas Ligotti. I have written several Abarat fanfics.

@no-light-darkness-visible is my His Dark Materials blog. I'm a big fan of the books and philosophy in general.

@little-zabrak is my Star Wars blog where I show off my OC a little bit. I try to reblog a lot of peoples' zabrak OCs because I think they're cool. I reblog a lot of Maul stuff. Star Wars is just a sandbox for me to play in at this point.

@thirteen-teeth is a blog where I reblog a wide variety of visual art. Paintings, sculpture, fashion, etc. I like it all. Sometimes I also reblog things that could be argued to not be art, but which are inspirational. Sometimes I try to leave stuff in the tags.

@horizoncollective is my Lancer RPG sideblog. I love Lancer. I have OCs and settings for it, but haven’t posted much about it yet.

You can't gatekeep LGBT events, for two main reasons:

You can't clearly define who's LGBT. Even someone who could pass as 100% cishet in their everyday life could be LGBT. Someone in an opposite gender relationship could be bisexual. Someone could be questioning their sexuality, even slightly, or maybe they did in the past or will in the future. It also isn't just people who identify as a non-assigned gender or have romantic or sexual attraction to the same gender that are oppressed. Even those who simply deviate from gender roles while still technically being cishet can be oppressed for it.

Requiring LGBT status as a condition for entry to LGBT events requires LGBT people to be out. And being out can be dangerous, so it should never be required.

The only people who shouldn't be welcome are those who are harmful to LGBT people. Examples include people who are openly anti-LGBT, all cops, and Christians who aren't actively trying to take Christianity back from bigots.

Aromantics and aces are completely sleeping on "Kevin Can Fuck Himself." That TV show spends two seasons developing an extremely complex queerplatonic relationship in the midst of a bunch of disastrous relationships of other kinds and ends with the queerplatonic one as canon with two women saying "let's die alone together". Why did I see no one talking about this. I only just watched this show and was floored by such a happy ending?

A regular part of my job is trying to reach out to people who have been quietly trying to make their community a better place; the volunteers, the teachers, the fucking. People who rehabilitate injured wild owls in a Quonset hut in the woods, and to a one this is the kind of person who immediately reviles at recognition. The kind of person who immediately says that they never got into this to get praise for it, and that they’d infinitely prefer to quietly plug away at this anonymously forever.

And from this I’ve always drawn two conclusions:

To always distrust Mr. Beast and his ilk who always want their acts of charity done on film, because the people who really want to do good and have no motives to do it besides the doing it never want recognition for it, and

That there are, in the dark, in the quiet, always people who are doing good, and the reason you don’t hear about it is because they’d rather die than receive recognition for it, but they’re real; they do exist. And you are never alone

social media websites should aggressively seek out, identify, and hire their most prolific and oldest shitposters specifically to tell them whether feature ideas are stupid or not. it is the number 1 mistake i see social media sites make and the easiest one to avoid. i would be willing to advise tumblr on a professional basis for minimum wage. every website is currently being run, advised, and speculated about in meetings by people who do not use the website

Comments (or replies) have been around for a while, but they have always been tucked away from your regular feed, and so we're working on a few ways to integrate them into the rest of our experience.

Soon, blogs will have a Comments tab alongside Posts, Likes, and Following. There, you will be able to see posts other people have been commenting on, and, more importantly, find your own comments! This was not possible before, except through notifications if someone engaged with your comment.

We're also working on a way to surface posts commented on by people you follow in your feeds. You will be able to find those in the For You tab, and later, alongside chronological posts in the Following tab.

So, how do you identify those posts in the feeds? 

Replied posts will show a small preview right there in your dashboard, before you click anything. 

This is not out yet, but soon! In the meantime, tell us what you think and expect from this! ☺︎

A big benefit of having comments enabled for all blogs is this will increase accountability and quality of comments because each blog would now think twice before writing a toxic comment, knowing it will be visible to everyone. If we make this opt-in, then we will lose this benefit and both spammers and trolls will continue their current behavior and limited accountability

@andriibuilds I believe you are well-intentioned but this is unfortunately not how toxic behavior online works. Hateful people have hateful followers, and if the followers see the main poster leave a mean comment, they will all dogpile on after them and create even bigger harassment problems. Polite people with polite followers won't have this problem, but may not want to batsignal their every public conversation to followers.

My followers don't need to see my comments every time I tell someone that gifs of young Trent Reznor are from music videos instead of adult videos, they don't need to see every time I compliment someone or say "so true!"

^^^ i spent all night and yesterday compiling information about a "phantom report bug", where people are getting emails from tumblr support about TOS reports they did not file. pjackk was banned off one of these phantom reports, i told tumblr support about it, and now he's unbanned. i think @garaks-padded-bra was also banned erroneously off a phantom report, so hopefully that will get reversed soon as well

PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR PHANTOM REPORT EMAILS. if you spot any, even if theyre old, tell me about them so i can add them to the list (linked above), and report them to tumblr support. POLITELY. tumblr support wants to fix this.

There's this really obscure forgotten DC hero named the Heckler, who's basically buggs bunny as a superhero, not having any powers or physically strong, but just really good at pissing people off until they accidentally deal with themselves.

Now they're interesting, but the REAL star of the show is one of his villains, John Doe the Generic Man, who's this guy in a stark white suit with flat pink unshaded, untextured skin with no features or anything who talks like chatGPT and has black text over his face that explains what he's feeling at the moment. That guy is fucking fascinating.

I first heard about this guy from the "League of regrettable superheroes" Books, (The supervillain one, obviously) and He stuck with me because its such an interesting concept. not only is HE generic, but he has the power to make anything he TOUCHES generic too. torrents work like this

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
