Kleptomaniac!Keith AU where Keith swiftly lifts Shiro’s wallet while they’re standing next to each other on a packed train:
It’s a habit Keith got into when he was young but he isn’t ill intentioned about it. He usually tries to sneakily give stuff back to the person if he can.
Since he was able to deduce where Shiro lived by the contents of his wallet, Keith goes to Shiro’s apartment to try and sneak it back.
When he gets there however, Shiro is just coming out, and it stops Keith in his tracks, not only because his cover is blown but because damn, he has never seen a more beautiful man in his life.
He ends up observing Shiro from afar for the next few days (aka thirst following) while also trying to think of how to give his wallet back.
Meanwhile, in the process of being confused and trying to replace the contents of his wallet, Shiro starts noticing a really cute guy frequenting the coffee shop down his street all of a sudden and – how strange – he keeps seeing him everywhere
Eventually Shiro plucks up the courage to go talk to him. Keith is flustered but pleasantly surprised. They have a cute but awkward exchange and before they part ways, Keith slips Shiro’s wallet back into his pocket without him noticing.
Later that day, Shiro grabs his wallet out of habit and suddenly realizes it’s back. He’s incredibly confused at first until, out of the corner of his eye, he sees a folded up piece of paper stuffed into one of the card slots.
When he takes it out, there’s a Starbucks card and a note saying, “I’m sorry I stole your wallet. Have some coffee on me. — Keith” followed by Keith’s number.
He spends the rest of the day smiling to himself. Right after he gets off work he calls Keith and they go out on their first date~

When Shiro leaves the first date, he later discovers that Keith pickpocketed his watch.
The funny thing is: it doesn’t stop. Keith keeps on pickpocketing him so he can make more excuses to see him again.
Eventually, Keith teaches Shiro how to avoid getting pickpocketed but also constantly shows up to the next date with the last thing of Shiro’s that he stole. When Shiro gives him a look, Keith just shrugs and says, “Sorry, guess I can’t keep my hands off of you.”
Later on down the line, after they’ve been dating for a while, they go out for a really, really nice dinner.
At the end of the night, Keith slips his hand into Shiro’s pocket, intending to once again steal another belonging. But then—
His eyes widen. Instead of finding his wallet, his fingers latch onto something different. It’s smooth and metallic and, Keith gulps—it’s in the unmistakeable shape of a ring 💍😏
