i've been completely like mentally cowed by this one moth that was flying around my room making annoying sounds by bumping against the wall a couple months ago because now every time i hear a sound like that i have to get out of bed turn my light on get my glasses and look for the potential moth. and it's literally never been a moth since it's always just rain dripping irregularly from the roof of the veranda outside but the moment i hear something irregular like that i literally flinch because im like "it's another fucking moth" and i cannot relax until ive verified this isn't the case

Genuinely, I think the most publicly visible AI advance so far this year is how thoroughly and abruptly the "image generators can't do legible text" problem has beem fixed.

For those who haven't been paying attention, this is a recent ChatGPT output. It can do this sort of dense sensible text in images totally one shot, so don't rely on bad text to identify AI images any more.
