“What about him?” She asked, trying to get every detail of her past.

“Well, he had a certain thing, we call it a thing as we don’t really know what it is. Kind of like being bipolar. It takes over at any moment and it’s kind of like an evil version of himself. We were in the middle of finding out what it was until they just completely disappeared, until we found them killed in their own house. I could check if it’s in you. We made a machine that could do that, although we never really used it as it was finished on the day they disappeared.”

“Alright. I’ll try it.”

She walked into a machine that would seem it would check your belongings and check if you’re safe to continue, kind of like the ones in the airport these days.

“Okay we’ll start it now. You won’t feel anything, rays are just going through your body to check.”

The machine began to make sound, meaning it’s working and it’s doing something. She closes her eyes, thinking something would happen but it just stops.

“And it’s done. We’ll have to wait for the results. It’s the first time we actually used this machine, like I’ve said before.” He continued after telling the two scientists to look after the data.

“That’s it, that’s all I wanted to talk to you about. As we get to our destination, you can rest in a room, they got ready for you.”

It was a room full of white, there were gray walls but nothing out of the ordinary or crazy. She entered the room and the door shut behind her as Nick walked away as well.

This is crazy. Like crazy, crazy. One second I was at home with him and now we’re here at a plane getting to a safer place. Do I deserve this? Probably not but I was given this chance anyways? How is this possible? Oh my gosh I wish I could just, get this out some how. Who knows what’s happening back there. I hope everyone’s okay. What about my parents? He said they weren’t dead but they weren’t anywhere to be seen. My brain just, can’t comprehend anything.

Her thoughts began to slow down as she drifted off to sleep.

She went to walk around the town, her excuse to leave was to start getting men in the bar earlier. She wasn’t going to do that, though.

This wasn’t a casual thing, she was never left to leave to do whatever she wants. It’s like they all were prisoners, prisoners to that place, prisoners to give pleasure to others who don’t deserve it. But, there’s nothing to do about it, unless you’d want to die in the streets.

There was a young man, brown short hair, brown eyes. She instantly knew he wasn’t from around here. He looked like he was in his early twenties as well. They were around the same age. He was talking to a merchant politely, no one arrives here without reason. It probably didn’t concern her though.

“Hey babe, you seem quite the woman,” An old man came up behind her, which she turned around to.

“Is there anything you needed?”

“Yes, I’ve been waiting for a kiss. I’ve seen all of your shows and I want the favor returned.”

He went ahead, getting closer to her. She moved away but she knew nothing could get her out of this. This is what life brought her the day she left the orphanage.

“Hey, sir. This isn’t any place to do this and she seems uninterested. Fuck off.” The young man, who she saw before with the merchant said.

“This is my business with her, you dimwit.”

“But I’m seeing here that she’s uninterested, I’ll say this once again. Fuck off, will you?”

“I’ll come back for you, sugar!” The elder drifted off. He gave a sneering look to the brunet.

As they watched him move away, he turned to her. His eyes were very kind looking, seemingly too nice.

“Hey, you okay?”

“Yeah. Thanks. I’ll need to go,”

She was in a hurry. She didn’t want her master seeing her here with this man, something might go bad. What if he saw this happen? Oh no, no, no! He can’t see this! He’ll be terribly angry.

“Wait! Where can I see you again, Ms..?”

“Ms. Y/N Devereaux”

She left as she spoke her own name, she turned back one last time. His face looked as though he was glad, as if he found something. What ever it is, it didn’t matter.

She went back and entered the master’s office. There was a woman and a man, they were giving the master a pouch of money? Moreover, they were wearing black suits and seemed very sophisticated, at least with their work.

“There you are! These guys want you, they gave me a sum of money for you. You’re theirs now.”

“What?”

Her mind was racing between so many thoughts of confusion, euphoria, and sadness. Confusion, what the fuck is going on here. Euphoria, excited to leave this place once and for all. And sadnesss, she’s leaving everything she had here behind.

“Who even are you?”

“We are from SHIELD. I’ll explain more promptly, come with us.” The woman ushered her outside.

‘No choice but to comply,’ those words were in your head as you walked behind them. Outside was a big jet. It was futuristic, nothing you’ve ever seen before. It was, amazing.

The back opened up, it was like a big staircase in which the two strangers went up on. The woman seemed to have noticed that Y/N stopped on her tracks.

“We don’t have all day, c’mon!” She ushered her once more.

She snapped back into reality and ran up to be close behind them. The door shut behind them after they entered. They begin flying out.

“This is a better place to explain.” He began talking, this is the first time she ever heard him speak.

He took a seat, the woman also did as well. There was an empty seat which she took and she was all ears. She wasn’t fearful but she was intrigued as to why they took her.

“I’m Nick Fury, the Director of SHIELD. The agent you see her is Maria Hill. We got you out of that place because someone was targetting you first. His name is Spider-Man, one of the villians we have here. You’ll be safe with us until you’ll get some place better. We’re not going to hurt you,”

He took a deep breath. He hoped she would comply with no objections as he needed to see all this for himself.

“Although, would you care to show us your powers?”

She was put into a laboratory dome. It wasn’t one which they would lock you in so she was totally free to walk out.

“Alright, go ahead.”

She began by making her hands into a triangle, and took a deep breath. She shot a light ray which was dissolved into the barrier. She put her hands out which created a light barrier that could save her from projectiles and other powers.

“May I get hit by something? It can be anything.”

She got hit with some unknown projectile. She then placed her hands on the ground which created a small circle of healing which healed her small wound, and they could see that. The wound was gone by a few seconds.

“So you really are, who you say you are..” he murmured, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.

“Okay, is that all?”

“Yes.”

“Come out then, I need to talk to you about something.”

The door opened for her and she came out. He walked and she walked next to him along with agent Hill. It was quiet but he began to speak.

“Y/N Devereaux. Do you know about your family heritage.”

“Not at all, sir.”

“Alright, then I must tell you, you are a target because of it. Your parents were killed and they want you too. It’s because of what you have.”

“What I have? You mean my powers?”

“Yes. Although, I’m not sure if they want you working with them or they want you gone. Everyone has their own idea of thinking. Your family, especially your parents, are very powerful.”

“Powerful?”

“Yes, powerful. Your mother’s name is Jade Carlson. She was one of the most powerful in her time. Using her Light Manipulation for good, which seems to be something you got from her.”

“And my father?”

“Your father is Matthew Devereaux. That’s where your name is from. He also had powers, however you seem to not have them or just never came to the idea or conclusion of having them. He does Shadow Manipulation, which is the opposite of your and your mother’s powers. There was also something else about him...”

Y/N Amelia Devereaux.

She’s the one that everyone knows as the dancer. She has been grown up to be just that, taken from the orphanage to live a life better than she would have in the streets.

She has never seen her parents, not even once, not even in a memory. She knows nothing about them. Are they even alive? She’s guessing not.

She has been taken by her ‘master,’ this ‘master’ is her adoptive father figure. He gave her a home and she’s thankful for that.

Everyone always given her a confused glance when they meet her for the first time. It obviously made her anxious at first, but it’s now expected of people to do so. She was different, after all.

Y/N is known as the dancer and is the talk of the town. The bar of her ‘master’s’ is gathering so much attention due to her remarkable dancing and how it arouses men who enter.

“You bitch, we didn’t gather as much as we did last week. You better rack up the money or you won’t get your plate of food.” He demanded, and he was mad but he still knew she didn’t do horribly.

“I am so sorry, Master, please forgive me, I will fix this for the next week.” She replied, coldly, as he liked it.

“Late at night tomorrow, you’ll seduce men into shop, you hear me?”

“Of course, master, anything you wish will be executed.”

He put his hand on her cheek as he checked her out one last time.

“That’s my girl, you’ll come out later for your dinner and you’ll head to sleep.”

He left the room, two other girls from the group came up to her.

“Why does he love you so much, bitch. You don’t deserve it. You’re always his little pet, you need to learn your fucking place.” Allison said, her voice was very squeaky and it annoyed everyone.

“This little bitch doesn’t even know how to dance. Back off from him, we need him on our side. We were brought here first, slut.” Hayley continued, they always do this stuff. It was normal.

Hayley slapped Y/N across the face. Even if Y/N wanted to fight back, there was no reason to. Nothing was going to change and they’re just mad they’re getting worse treatment. If anything, they should practice more.

“If you really feel that way then get your heads out of your asses and become better. Time is better spent bettering yourselves than belittling others to make yourself feel better.”

“We never asked for a response.” Hayley said, keeping up the pace.

“I never asked for you to come up to me. This is a waste of time, goodbye.”

Y/N opened the door to the shut down bar, lights were open but every table was put away nicely but one, the one they usually eat at.

Sophie ate by herself, it was just some chicken nuggets at french fries from McDonalds. It was the cheapest stuff they could get us nowadays so it’s what we get from time to time. If we’re lucky, we’d be able to cook stuff for ourselves.

“Hey, what’s up,” She sits down next to sophie, sophie was her best friend, literally, they were so well-matched that they’re inseparable.

Sophie looks up to see the mark on Y/N’s face. It was just her cheek really red and a bit swollen.

“God, did she do it again? Ask for some ice for it, it’s not good just leaving it swollen like that..” Sophie said, she felt bad for her, always getting beat up like this isn’t very nice.

“It’s okay, I got used to it.”

She ate some of the nuggets and fries, she needed something to eat before going to bed. Sophie went to the bathroom to wash up and Y/N finished eating. She headed upstairs.

She was about to enter the room until Sophie ultimately stops her.

“Wait, I need to talk to you about something!”

“Sure what’s up?”

“How are your powers doing?”

“Oh! They’re not acting up, I knew I had them ever since I was younger so I controlled them.”

Flashback scene:

Y/N put her two hands together in a shape of a triange which the emmitted light, a light beam.

“I can also do other things like make a barrier, blind people temporarily, and make a light circle for healing. I never use them because I never had to but it’s normal!”

Sophie clapped and cheered, she was glad she had a friend like Y/N, shes so powerful and cool.

Flashback end.

“Why don’t you use them to get out of here?” Sophie asked.

“I can’t! That would be too dangerous.”

“Why not? I mean, they don’t have powers.”

“Sure, they don’t but after that, where do we go? Do you want to starve to death?”

“No,”

“There’s your answer. I’m going to sleep goodnight.”

She leaves Sophie to her thoughts and leaves to sleep. She can’t shake the thought of what Sophie said though, can she really do it? No wait, she can’t that would be a danger to herself and others. She shook the thought away and fell asleep.
