Synesthesia Musings

🦇 ¡Hi! 🦇 ☮️ We're the Void Galaxy (D.I.D. sys/plural). Apparently we have synesthesia, & I'm starting to post about it on our main @void-galaxy-shenanigans (finally comfortable starting to share) so I guess it's time to actually make a blog for it & post more. We barely posted anything so... ¡now we have a place to begin & explore! ~Nico ☮️ 💟pfp is from a website where we attempted to draw out something we saw with synesthesia. I don't remember what it was from but the result looks close, & cool, so I'm using it here. the banner is one of my drawings of how that name (Ian) looks in our brain.☺ 💟 (☸️P.S. the best colours are dark ones because light sensitive & because synesthesia but I can't make the background too dark because black text 😭 I want dark purple or dark blue☸️)

Long fingernails feel like stilts on my fingertips. Not super long claw attachments, just...maybe an inch at most past the end of my fingers. I guess it would be normal length to most people but...feels like stilts on my fingers. 😅

Nick Pitera’s voice sounds like golden shiny swirls flowing up like a (not dangerous) tornado. (very pretty, very cool (not the temperature kind), very soothing)

& the instrumental sounds like blue swirls overlapping the gold swirls, flowing around near the bottom (similar translucent/glowy blue to the pfp, but with sparkles & less controlled, more whirly)

Together it gives me a mental image of like...orange-y autumn yard with leaves thrown in the wind, a picnic table with a white & blue checkered cloth laid over it, & the sparkly swirls are over the table. The gold is spiraling up, & the blue is swirling over the table like a magic spell (or like a rune, maybe).

It's very soothing & pleasant. I love to loop this song 😅💜 ~Nico

Diet Mtn Dew tastes like a hot tub. Soothing, but a little dry & restricted & empty.

regular Mtn Dew tastes like a hot springs. Bubbly & light (not sure how else to describe that feeling, it's not the light/dark but the weight kind) & expansive.

(this isn't necessarily a compliment btw. they're acceptable. i mainly drink them because they've been a Same™ drink for the tism & a Good Dopamine™ drink for the HD for long enough that they're often a go-to.)

i don't know why. that's just what my brain is giving me right now. (i'm currently drinking both because the ADHD is understimmed but tism is overstimmed & bipolar is doing its hypomania cycle.)

i Need Stimulation™ but it has to be the Correct™ kind. currently brain has decided having both is Correct™, so...synesthesia comparison. 🤷‍♂️

So....when I read or hear words & names, I often see colours and patterns in my mind. This one is what Ian looks like to me, because I met someone named Ian today & felt inspired.

Wait, you mean you don't see fireworks bursting in your mind when you hear Clarity, 8D audios (e.g. Believer - Imagine Dragons in 8D), Fireflies (Owl City), etc.? That wasn't a joke? (/lighthearted but genuine question)

((We've always seen fireworks & wanted to happy stim— didn't know till recently when we actually talked about it that most people don't experience music that way))

Update, more firework types??

Normally we see mortars & the occasional fountain (fireworks).

We're now seeing fountains & smoke bombs with more songs now that we're not resisting it 😅
