This is the first piece where I consciously stopped myself from making the lines perfect. “No, it doesn't need to be perfect. Flaws just means a person did it.”
So...this has some flaws, some swoopy lines (like the one inside the letter e, which I hesitated over multiple times) & some lines that overlap in imperfect ways.
I do think it's pretty funny that fanfic premises based on illegitimate kids as an excuse for crossovers over the years have gone from "Mom character CHEATED on Dad character 😡" to "once upon a time, mommy and daddy had a threesome and now we have YOU!" lmaoooo. People don't want marital discord they just want a third parent
I love this post. I LOVE this post. When I was in Kindergarten, my teacher wanted to show my family a drawing we were supposed to do if our parents or family members (something like that). At that time, I was living in the house with my mother, my aunt, my grandparents, and my dad would visit sometimes on the weekend. As a baby, my mom was involved with a gay man who even after he came out stayed close with the family (there’s tons of pictures of him holding me as a baby). Anyway, they showed the picture I drew, where I told my teacher I had FIVE PARENTS.
I was an only child, but I was never lonely. My aunt was like the cool big sister, my grandpa pushed me on the swing and taught me about yardwork and exposed me to classic musicals, my grandma is the reason I can cook and bake.
It doesn’t matter how they get there: more people in your child’s life is a good thing.
Fast forward to when I am 15. My grandparents adopt me. My aunt legally becomes my sister, her children legally become my niece and nephew, my grandfather, almost near retirement, gets to joke around with his office that he has a teenager at home and she’s accomplishing xyz insert whatever activity they were keeping me busy with. My grandparents wouldn’t have it any other way.
You know who “gave me away” at my wedding? Six different people all in unison agreeing to help me and my husband on our journey.
I had TWO father/daughter dances that night. No one batted an eye.
More people doesn’t make your kid’s life complicated. It makes it better, I promise. It takes a village. Whether that village comes about organically, legally, through marriage, or polyamory.
I didn't initially tap this post as good poly rep (you can tell it was my second thought), but I am always of the opinion that you can have as many parents in your life as are there are people willing to raise you. There is no such thing as 'replacing a rightful role'; there are only people who love you and are willing to put the time in to be there for you, and your willingness to receive them. Likewise, I imagine, come partners and children.
it’s okay to evolve 😌🦋 our butterfly friend is here to remind us that sometimes change is scary, but it’s very important. butterflies symbolize new beginnings, transformation, and life.
I got a request for this to be made in one of my social groups. The art (signature in the corner, centerpiece (man with cane), & “trans” bubble letters) is all made by me, and the text was added via Canva (Garamond font). (photo ID in alt text included)
((I am willing to make similar ones for trans masc nonbinary, trans fem nonbinary...I just want to include as many people as possible, so nonbinary options may be more narrow labels and a less thorough umbrella one. I myself am masc nonbinary (boyflux), so I’d love to include nonbinary people as well. Let me know if y’all like this & want more (& if so, which labels/umbrellas) 💜.))
The centerpiece (4h17m) and signature (½ hour / 30 ish mins) I had already made for other reasons, but I knew the centerpiece fit with what I wanted to share here. (Yes, he is missing a face on purpose; the original piece was about how being disabled, especially with an invisible illness, will make some people only see your disability and/or mobility aid and not even look at your face.) The bubble letters I made on the spot (1h37m).
I love the process of making art, and also enjoy using Canva to add text or combine multiple images (in this case, adding art, signature, bubble letters together & then adding text), so this was a very enjoyable process for me. It’s not super complicated, but I’m still happy I made it & willing to share with y’all.
I wish all trans men a very supportive, safe, and loving life with a good support network.
Whether you plan to medically transition (to whatever degree is best for you) or don't need to or can’t medically transition; whether you plan to acquire or use (or already have and use) a chest binder, or don’t want or need to use a chest binder, or can’t use a chest binder (including but not limited to medical reasons or chest size); whether you dress and express yourself with ‘girly’/‘feminine’ clothes or outfits, ‘masculine’/‘manly’ clothes or outfits, otherwise binary-categorized clothes or outfits, androgynous clothes or outfits, homemade clothes or outfits, another clothing or outfit option, or some combination of those; whatever stage of your social transition (closeted for safety, partially closeted, publicly out; binding vs not binding; packing vs not packing) you’re in, &/or (if you want & plan to) whatever medical transition stage you’re in (pre/post top surgery, pre/post bottom surgery, pre/post testosterone or hormone blockers)— all of you are valid, deserve love and support, and deserve to live safe, authentic, and fulfilling lives.
((Okay to repost with credit, & reblogs very welcome 💜))
Tumblr definitely has bigots as well, but I’m going to share this and just block anyone who decides to be transphobic, a TERF, or otherwise a bigot.

((Full centerpiece and trans bubble letters underneath the cut— also welcome to repost or share with credit))
Made this because why not. Okay to use or repost with credit, & reblogs welcome. 💜 This took about 1½ hours to finish, not including time to sign it. ~Nico
I haven't been inspired to do art in a while...but a new friend asked what his name looked like so I drew it! First time I've been this inspired in a while.
All colours, fonts, shapes, etc. are intentional. I picked the shape of the tree, the fonts, the outline colour and the colour of the letters, the background colour, the colour and shape of the em dash...all of it...very intentionally so it would match what I see in my brain as closely as possible. 💜
(I apparently have synesthesia, & yes I’m honestly so oblivious I didn’t know/realize/notice 😅)
people moving to tumblr from twitter please fucking reblog art likes literally dont do anything except make the artist upset bc they have 2 reblogs and 55 likes
theres this one person who reblogs this post like 20 times a day and then sometimes will also reblog it like 200 times at once and also anytime it appears on their dash they apparently will queue it again too and i just want you all to know that you pissed them off real bad and that should be your sign to reblog art actually. for them
Felt silly n goofy today, so I made a silly n goofy comic! Drew it, coloured it, then used an app to create a collage & another app to add panel numbers & a title. 4 hours of work for a silly goofy comic featuring wordplay. Worth it though!
I’m a black artist and mostly do concept work and character design.
I consume a lot of indie and self-published media, and I keep noticing some not great trends from what I assume are well-intentioned artists. I figure the best way to help is to educate, so
First thing we’re gonna do is go over features. I see a lot of artists say that black people “don’t work” in their style, so using picrews I’ll create a badly drawn black person, and then a properly drawn one in the same style:
Using this picrew:
“But wait!” I can hear you saying, “That’s not the same hairstyle!” And you’re right, it’s not. But the reason for that is that afro hair does not and will not move or fall in the same way as straighter hair. In some cases, these hairstyles can be imitated with braids or locs though, like the example below.
Another example, using this picrew:
Also, don’t be afraid to push it farther and make them darker with curlier hair and fuller features.
Next, let’s talk character lineups. You can do black characters with weird and unusual features. You can do black characters that have dyed hair or light eyes. But if all your black characters look unusual to the point that none of them resemble a black person you’d likely encounter in real life, that’s when it definitely becomes an issue. Or even worse, your black character is very unusual looking and is the only black character??? Do not do that.
Some character line up examples, using this picrew:
Last thing! I’m a huge supporter of the natural hair movement and it really baffles me that people seem to struggle to give black characters interesting hairstyles because there’s honestly SO much you can do with afro hair.
With this in mind, I used those same 3 picrews to make some collages of really cool hairstyles with black hair.
⚠️Warning for (intentional) very stark contrast that might be blinding⚠️

This one is Golden Eclipse....I think I was sleep deprived & trying to express what I was feeling / mental illness (stuff in our head). Even I can barely look at it 😬😅 ~Nico
[Photo ID 1: a slim person (looking to be fit/toned and masculine) in blue jeans, green shoes, and a dark grey t-shirt with light skin waves at the viewer. Their hair, styled in an undercut, is dark red. They have no facial features (eyes, mouth, nose); their face is only skin tone. They are leaning on a purple walking cane with a black handle and black base. The background is light blue. The corner is hand-signed “Nico”, “Void Galaxy”, with Tumblr blogs @/void-galaxy-art-stuffs & @void-galaxy-shenanigans next to the signature.]
[Photo ID 2: The same person and signature as photo one, with added details: Written to the left and right of the person in gold block letters (in a similar font to cursive), “I may not look Crippled, Sick, or Disabled to others...but my experience is valid, and I know my body best.”]
I have two versions of this one because the text is a vent & I’m kinda proud of the person because....that’s me. That’s how I look in headspace, & that’s the exact cane we use outside headspace. That’s me. And I’ve always been super anxious about drawing people (“I’m not good at it” on repeat in my head), but this....turned out okay. Even the hair looks okay, & I kept thinking I couldn’t do hair. 🥺
¿Did I not include a face because I dunno how to position features (esp eyes) to look even semi realistic & not like the person is high/stereotypically “crazy”, or because it’s a stylistic choice pointing out how people only notice my cane & “healthy” body (//invisible// illness) & not my face because they legit stare at our mobility aid so why include a face for someone that so many people don’t care to notice the face of? ....Maybe both, you’ll never know (/lighthearted).
Repost is okay only if you tag me & include the signature box; reblogs are encouraged & very welcome!
So....when I read or hear words & names, I often see colours and patterns in my mind. This one is what Ian looks like to me, because I met someone named Ian today & felt inspired.
[Image ID: black background; bottom left corner has a small box of light blue text that says “MII: Mental Image of Ian”; bottom right corner is signed by the artist, “Nicolás Carriedo del Void Galaxy”; in the middle, block letters spell ‘Ian’, which is outlined in teal with a light green background that has electric green lines drawn across it. (/end ID)]
Let me know if you wanna see more of these. & as always, ¡reblogs are welcome!
This happened today. Feeling weirdly creative but also stuck (trapped with unsafe people makes it difficult to create). ~Nico
[Photo ID: dark blue background labeled “Mend + Heal”, signed by Nicolás Carriedo of the Void Galaxy; center is a large red heart, outlined in darker red, with black cracks zig-zagging across it. Some black lines have stitches (smaller perpendicular lines across the big line). A small stick figure is adding another stitch to the biggest break. (/end ID)]
So we got really inspired by spilled ranch &....¡this OC happened!
Meet Rocket (he/they) the ghost kitty 😅 ~Nico
[Photo ID: a dark/honey gold background signed by Nicolás of the/de el Void Collective with the words “¡Meet Rocket!” up top; a dark purple cat face with green eyes with a ghost tail takes up most of the space (/end ID)]
