The Anne Shirley Opening dropped and Naoko Yamada has delivered yet another masterpiece.

Love everything about it, be it the song or the animation itself. It captures her personality so well, as well as the nature of the show. Just the way they captured her body language is perfect.

Some really strong openings this anime spring season, but this is a top contender.

I'm tearing up watching this because they've referenced the Green Gables historic site on PEI and the look of those fields and woods in summer. WOW, they care so much! And their Matthew! YES!

A friend of mine who was in PEI for business a few years ago said that apparently, according to locals he talked to, their largest AoGG tourism demographic is Japanese folks. Japan loves Anne for real. I'm not surprised there's an anime.

This "flatness" isn't a flaw but a deliberate technique, pulling us into the frame as if we’re unrolling a scroll of visual wonder. It’s not depth that Miyazaki aims for—it’s a sheer density of storytelling in every frame, a reminder that 2D animation’s strength lies in its ability to immerse without imitating.
