I’ve been here for like four years and never made an intro post,, BUT I’m finally making one!
I’m an artist and a writer! My main fandoms are MCYT (Life Series, Qsmp, Kaloscope SMP, and Dreamsmp), Rain World, Hollow Knight, Pressure, and Forsaken!

Exile cTommy drives me crazy bc his themes are so deeply about isolation and an abuse victim having to save themselves. Which, is really powerful. Especially for people who don’t have support networks, who can’t be rescued, seeing it’s possible to do it oneself.
But also. Because it’s so effective. Because it hurts so much. I WANT to save him. I’m begging for him to be rescued. For anyone at all to hear him scream. Tommy isn’t a damsel, he is capable of saving himself, but he shouldn’t have to. Those fics are a different sort of comfort to those hurting. That someone will care, that they’ll be rescued. That he deserves to be.
In some sense I’m certain the reverse would be true if canon and those types of fics were reversed. That is how fandom functions, teasing apart the whatifs.
Still I’m endlessly grateful that cTommy wasn’t rescued. Especially with the bedrock bro healing after. Tommy isn’t looking for help when he goes to Techno, he’s literally living under the floorboards. And even when he’s discovered Techno is so deeply not equipped to play therapist for a traumatized teen. He’s still bleeding, but it was him who pulled out the blade.

yeah i think all the different notes you've explained here really hit the mark on why i was so obsessed with reading and rereading so many exile arc , fanfics, comics, ect. even though i haven't watched any of the streams about it
in a way c!tommy was kind of like a vessel (or muse) for many people to cope with/ or show how they would feel about or deal with all these different social problems (or abuse) they were dealing with (or related too socially in my case)
And despite c!tommy having such a strong character it's interesting to see how different writers would characterise him depending on their story
personally i think i kind of emotionally stressed myself out on purpose, cause i was already not doing well during 2020-24, by deliberately reading bad end aus, or it gets worse before its better fanfics, because i've always felt similarities between myself and him, in the fact he was so continuously/desperately loyal to people, despite feeling or getting constantly betrayed or left behind from them,, even though it might seem so obvious as a watcher that him and whoever dont have the same goals or morals,, in the end he sticks besides them intill theirs or his own death
He follows c!wilbur, c!dream (sort of), c!techno (again i haven't watched the streams)
he literally said something along the lines of..
"I was always your sidekick" to c!tubbo
and what i love about the final ending for c!tommy is that he reunites and stays with tubbo,, they both finally leave the server/area,, and are "getting there" in the end,, something that i have to remind myself of aswell,, and i'd like to get a point where im happy and able to easily notice when i should let go of people who dont care for me
this ties into a different post I made about my bad fandom take, being I care more about if a character’s themes are in tact more than if they’re 100% in character. Especially with a character like Tommy, allowing people to explore abuse in different ways. He’s there for someone who wants to forgive their abusers so they can move on, for someone who wants to rip them apart, for someone who needs to claw out their own escape, for someone who longs to be saved, for someone who hurts and wants to lash out in as much hurt as they can, for someone whose stood down the exile tower, and on and on. He’s hope and despair. Explored in a million ways and still Tommy all the same.
