Okay no yeah actually let’s talk about the fact that both Billy and Tommy fundamentally hate themselves as people but in wildly different ways that that greatly affects not only their views of themselves but their views of each other. Anyone wanna talk about that?

Billy hates himself because he believes there is something broken in him. That he’s flawed in some way that could be fixed, but that he isn’t capable of fixing. He hates himself because he thinks he is unlike everyone around them because he is incapable of being whole, there is something broken in him and he knows that. It’s why he’s the way he is, why he hates himself, why people around him get hurt, why he’s so damn lonely living out his happily ever after. There is something broken inside of him that he does not know how to fix, and he hates himself because of it.

Tommy hates himself because he thinks there is something fundamentally wrong with him. He isn’t broken, he isn’t fixable, there is something inherently wrong with him and he knows it and he hates himself for it. He has always been this way and will always be this way and it is why he is so damaged, it is why everyone leaves him, it is why he is alone. And it’s why he hates himself. There is something incurably wrong with him at the core of his being and there always will be and he hates himself for that fact.

And because of that, Billy believes Tommy can change. And Tommy believes Billy is inherently good. Because Billy knows that whatever is broken within him is not in Tommy, and therefore Tommy is capable of being better and being worth love, and he’s seen Tommy grow and change right in front of him and he *knows* there is not something broken in Tommy the way there is in him. Because Tommy knows that whatever is wrong with him is not wrong with Billy, because Billy is kind and good and gentle and all of the things that he is not, and therefore he cannot be wrong the way that Tommy is. Billy is good and Tommy is not and that is an unchangeable fact to him.

I don’t have a neat way to wrap this up. The twins hate themselves and it’s very fascinating to me as to how. Also, I think that the two of them should get a series together bc where they both are in their character arcs as people would be perfect to explore through their relationship w each other. Yeah :]
