taking creative breaks is like trying to unbrainwash yourself.
like no no honey, creativity is a SKILL and you have to REST in order to not BURN OUT but the problem is that I WANT to feed myself alive to the Rise and Grind mindset because i like doing the thing im taking a break from!!!
im just a humble zookeeper trying to make sure the animals don't eat each other but also the thing that's chewing on the electric fence wondering why the metal tastes spicy
It must be sooo hard pretending to care
I am obsessed with the idea that, in an alternate timeline of any sort where Alastor and Vox live together, Alastor would absolutely be the "partner who doesn't want a pet then ends up doting on the pet" archetype.
He'd probably protest pretty hard against the idea of Vox bringing a baby Shok.wav into their home, because Shok.wav is pretty dog-coded and Alastor canonically hates dogs, but eventually Vox would wear him down and Alastor would cave to his darling Picture Box's pleading. Then all of a sudden there'd be this little shark beast scooting around the apartment, and maybe he's kind of cute, and he's not really that much like a dog after all...
Alastor ends up spoiling Shok.wav rotten, constantly buying him new chew toys and giving him scritches and feeding him the best tidbits of regular food and Sinner meat alike. He buys decals to stick on the glass of Shok.wav's sleeping tank so there's always something interesting for Shok.wav to look at. He'll stay on the couch for hours if Shok.wav falls asleep on him, because it would be unforgivably rude to wake the animal up simply so that Alastor can go do other things, the poor creature is still growing and needs his rest! He frequently takes Shok.wav on 'walks' around Cannibal Town (not exactly the right term, considering Shok.wav is gliding rather than walking, but close enough) where all the residents are absolutely enamored with the fierce little creature and coo over him endlessly, much to Shok.wav's delight at all the attention. He even turns off his visual interference filter sometimes, when it's just the two of them, so that Shok.wav can have some unobstructed images of Alastor in his internal memory drive.
Vox ends up a teeny-tiny-infinitesimal bit pouty that his beloved baby sharkdog likes his partner more than him, but mostly he's overjoyed that they get along (and it's also murderously cute when they're snuggled up together on the couch, he's never seen anything more adorable in his life or afterlife). He can make peace with being Shok.wav's second-favourite person because really, Alastor is Vox's favourite person too, so it's just proof of Shok.wav having good taste.
I might turn this into an actual fic idea at some point when I'm not busy dealing with Health Issues but I just had to get the idea down because I've been rotating it all day, lmao.

Oops sorry wrong room (wip)
we are radiostatic
utterly inconsolable about the radiostatic card still, will not be shutting up about it
My (people's) favorite scene
I think it's the "beheaded" guys not "divorced"
I heard through the grapevine that Vivzie took Alastor's and Vox's character arc to a different narrative angle she didn't initially mean to do which was different than what she originally had planned in the beginning and everyone on Twitter was like Say Gex, which is funny but I thought it would also be funny if her characters kind of took the ropes in the creative process the more she developed them like how some characters do. Sometimes my characters are like- we're doing this now and I'm like- wait a minute, this wasn't in the original drafts, and they're like- too bad, that's what happens when you breathed life into us, we become deviant. And so I wonder if that's the case for her. That Alastor and Vox just became such good foils for each other that she was like- uh oh, you guys are getting a bit too attached to each other.
Since Vox was made to contrast Alastor, I kind of see it how in Durarara, Shizuo was made to contrast Izaya so the flea wouldn't get away with too many evil shenanigans. I'm also sure Narita didn't plan for those two to become such defining mirror opposites of each other either. It just happened. I think the same thing happened to Viv and I kind of imagine the radiostatic relationship evolved into this:
That's what happens when you remove all of attention Alastor used to get, leaving behind the only one who will give him attention unconditionally is a stupid eager and obsessive tv head.
Your characters becoming sentient is so real. I've had to construct entirely different stories because they started acting so much different from the original idea. So Alastor and Vox originally being rivals and evolving into a wild situationship because Alastor wouldn’t nearly be as invested if he didn't actually like him. I personally think that because they're both layered and insane, they can't just have a double sided 70 year rivalry with no substance.
Viv, let Al be happy with his favorite tv
thinking about how Vox's approval rating was so important to him and how he was able to reach his full potential of temporarily being the Strongest Sinner in Hell when he had 100% ratings.
and now I'm wondering if Alastor's little plan of breaking his deal with Rosie would've actually worked if he'd just manipulated Vox back in the day and I wonder if Alastor knows that he messed up and he could've be free of his deal a lot sooner if he didn't burn that bridge down because his emotionally stunted ass couldn't comprehend the idea of asking/receving help probably as a trauma response.
