After an embarrassingly long period of inactivity, I am finally back, and I am beyond delighted to share that I contributed to the beautiful @worldbeyondzine project as one of their fiction writers!
“The World Beyond the Wand” is a fantasy zine that places transmasculine characters at the heart of mesmerising art. I am so honoured to have been a voice for my Indian trans community, at a time where we need it the most.
I got to collaborate with two incredibly talented artists - @keiken01 and @/iafwstatic - on two pieces centred around Tamil trans men, one in the main zine and one in the side zine. This was an incredibly fulfilling experience and I am so glad I get to share it here!
The best part about this project is that you can get TWO zines and whole merch bundles containing everything from games to music digitally, AND every donation goes towards Rainbow Railroad, an organisation that works towards helping queer and trans folks in unsafe situations (eg, warzones).
If you are unable to donate, that is totally fine, but spreading the word is greatly appreciated.

fun fact (?), but this is one of my most lauded pieces. it won a national writing competition - IWP season 5, to be exact. cool stuff.

Meet the seventh character of “Lightning,” my original novel - Chinmayi Selvaraj! Age: 21 Pronouns: She/her/hers Height: 145 cm (or) 4’9” Weight: 49 kg (or) 108 lbs Current concern: She’s started to like her coding hobby more than her actual degree.
Her favourite food is anything sweet. She is a weightlifter and a dancer.

Tiny note from the author: Chinmayi’s MBTI might be ENTJ. Or ESTJ. If I’m being honest, I have no clue. But one thing’s for sure - anyone who’s met her loves her.

Meet the sixth character of “Lightning,” my original novel - Niraivu Manivannan! Age: 22 Pronouns: He/him/his Height: 185 cm (or) 6’0” Weight: 71 kg (or) 156 lbs Current concern: Recently burnt off a bit of his hair in a poorly-planned Chemistry experiment. He’s now nicknamed ‘Theepotti*’ at college.

His favourite food is vathakozhambu. He is an expert fielder and has learnt Carnatic music for ten years.

Tiny note from the author: Niraivu was initially supposed to use they/he pronouns but... Pronoun Soup. I kept the lack of gender-conformity in their character design, however.

Meet the fifth character of “Lightning,” my original novel - Dhruv Iyengar!
Age: 21 Pronouns: He/him/his Height: 154 cm (or) 5’0” Weight: 58 kg (or) 127 lbs Current concern: He can’t shave his facial hair because then he gets mistaken for a middle schooler.
His favourite food is pizza. He spends his free time baking and is a trained bassist.

Tiny note from the author: Dhruv’s design was based on the concept, “looks like they could kill you, but is a cinnamon roll.” Of course, though, he has his secrets.

His favourite food is ice cream. He loves going on runs and falling down strange rabbit holes on the internet.

Age: 22 Pronouns: He/him/his Height: 176 cm (or) 5’8” Weight: 80 kg (or) 176 lbs Current concern: He keeps forgetting whether he’s on a bulk or a cut.
His favourite food is biryani. He knows pottery, and he likes surfing and working out when he can.

His favourite food is masala dosai. He writes in his free time, and he can cook too many things for his own comfort.

Meet the first character of “Lightning,” my original novel - Rudhran Kumar!
Age: 21 Pronouns: He/him/his Height: 173 cm (or) 5'6" Weight: 75 kg (or) 165 lbs Current concern: His favourite sanitiser is out of stock. Also, he hasn’t done his accounts homework in two weeks.
His favourite food is filter coffee. He’s partial to rock music, and he enjoys a good non-fiction book.

Tiny note from the author: Rudhran’s design was meant to be as minimalistic as possible, true to his personality. He’s rational, composed and a bit sassy. Despite his to-the-point exterior, he knows when to have fun.
