honestly that post I just rebloged is exactly how I feel about Annabeth and percabeth as a relationship.

yes, Annabeth is traumatized teenager. that trauma (and her hubris) make her act the way she does. I do think some of her action towards Percy are toxic, if not outright abusive at times. No, I don't think she's an irredeemable evil person.

I don't think acknowledging her actions as maybe not the nicest is even some type of insult against her, it's just the reality. traumatized people won't always be nice, but that doesn't mean we can't acknowledge when they hurt other people just because they too have been hurt

I would actually go as far as to say that MOST abuse is unintentional. I think most people will go through their lives without ever experiencing intentional abuse. People are abusive because they're selfish, because they're stressed, because they care more about what society thinks they should do than the impacts of their actions on their children and partners, because they think what they're doing is correct, because they've made it make sense in their own heads, because they think they can fix their victims, they think they can fix their relationships, they think they can stop you from leaving, they think they can make you a better partner to them, they think that means you need to do what they want. We've sort of constructed mental illness in a way that doing this shit to other people counts as a form of mental illness because it is anti social behavior in the literal sense— it is behavior that causes social harm.

I don't say any of this to excuse it. I think everyone needs to be more aware of this because if you think abuse has to be intentional you will never realize you are capable of abusive behavior. You will never realize you are being shitty to the people you love, because YOU know what you mean, YOU know you don't mean any harm. But you're doing harm. You need to pay attention to the impact you have on other people, and you need to do it all the time, Especially when you feel least capable of doing so. Sorry! You live in a society. Get your head out of your ass.

pjo worldbuilding – Satyrs

(bc if rr isn't going to do it, i will)

There are multiple species (? races?) of satyrs:

Sileni – Descendants of Silenus, son of Gaea and Dionysus' foster father. They mostly live around Nysa, Silenus' birth place.

Panes – Descendants of Pan, son of Hermes. This is the one Grover and the satyrs that inhibit CHB are. Pan, shortly before he went into hiding, made a deal with Apollo for his satyrs. They would help out with demigods in exchange for a place to reside and Apollo's (partial) protection.

mix of both

The differences between the satyrs races (?) are fur colour and horn shape for goat part, and skin colour and facial features the human part.

There are other minor satyr gods, but humans usually just combine them with Silenus and Pan.

the concept of irl myth existing in pjo universe is so interesting to me

i personally consider the myths aren't 100% true but they all have kernel of truth to them

sometimes the incorrect parts are because the human who wrote them didn't know the whole story and just knew about it not even second hand but like fifth hand

sometimes the incorrect part was bc a god lied about something and people wrote it down not knowing they lied

the gods have their own history books written by other gods; usually by Clio for younger generations and Mnemosyne for older generations being the two cheif historians, while their children (usually minor nymphs) also help on occasion.

Chb and New Rome have books about Divine History™, separated by the Ages (primodial, titan, gods). the Primordial Age only has one book, while the Titan and Gods have multiple. even though the Titan Age has gone on for more years, the God Age has more titles in their series
