currently I am very much interested in and mostly talking abt Duckverse and Duck comics, I previously frequented Duckverse circles on twitter and tumblr back in 2015-2018 but then mostly distanced myself from the internet and social media in general for work and my personal life matters
there are plenty of Duckverse characters I like and find interesting, I also enjoy finding comics in other languages (French preferably) if it means being able to see more of my favourite characters or artists, some of my favourite characters are Gideon McDuck, Ludwig von Drake, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Darkwing Duck, and (The Three Caballeros) Panchito, José Carioca
I am interested in other things too, such as Masters of the Universe (MOTU, He-Man, She-Ra), TMNT, Usagi Yojimbo, One Piece, Kirby, Klonoa, Sonic & SEGA
other curiosities of mine are coding (HTML/CSS), music sampling (plunderphones, sampledelia), avant-garde music, and collecting comics and art books
various art I scanned from "Chanticleer and the Fox" a book that repurposes concept art of a project called "Chanticleer", these are all drawn by Marc Davis
these are images I haven't really seen online, or they've been in lower quality, so I thought it'd be fun to scan them and share them
if you'd like to learn more about Chanticleer, its development history, and see more concept art, check out Andreas Deja's website Deja View
Mungkin lainkali aku bakal gambar Elinor dengan comic art style lagi. Aku redesign dia sedikit biar keliatan lebih simple, aslinya biar lebih mudah digambar dan gk ribet kalau gambar terus terusan di komik
I've always loved the dynamic of the three caballeros and the way josé and panchito treat donald ❤️ and unfortunately as time goes on we see them less and less aside from merchandise in Japan, and when we do see them around it feels very off... but, I'd rather focus on the things I love abt the trio instead!
I'll be idly rambling about the following media below, Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Melody Time, Two Happy Amigos, The Three Caballeros Ride Again! (D 2000-002), and The Magnificent Seven (Minus Four) Caballeros! (D 2004-032)
under the cut since I've begun to see just how long this post is becoming... if there's anything anyone wants to add they are more than welcome to! I've only just recently watched the Legend of The Three Caballeros so I don't have much to say about that series just yet
when josé first meets donald (Saludos Amigos) he's soooo excited, like he's meeting his favourite celebrity... it's very cute ❤️ even when donald tries to go in for a handshake josé hugs him multiple times while fawning over him and wants to dance and share drinks with him
I think donald being "famous" and beloved to these characters is a reflection of how the studio and its animators thought of donald duck themselves. donald was more fun to animate, more relatable in his explosive temper (talked about in The Art and Animation of Carl Barks) and seen as a fighter, someone who wouldn't give up in situations.
the three caballeros celebrates donald's birthday, which josé makes a return and takes donald to Bahia, panchito is also introduced in another one of donald's presents, this one being from Mexico
although panchito doesn't greet the two outside of saying "Welcome to Mexico" he knew the two by name without asking which implies panchito knows of donald and josé at least
as I already showed at the beginning of the post, there's a good amount of small scenes of donald, josé, and panchito looking at each other fondly, or putting their hands on each other ❤️ I like that a lot of it is during genuine scenes, where panchito is taking them around Mexico or talking abt his culture and the dances- another small detail I love is when panchito showing the flag of Mexico, josé takes his hat off in respect
in melody time there's not much other than the two dancing together, but it's still very much sweet... my favourite details are josé being the one reaching for donald to dance with him, and then even watching donald dance on his own with a smile on his beak
Blame it on the Samba, interestingly, was intended to be for the third donald duck movie, Cuban Carnival (Disney Wiki)
two happy amigos (walt disney presents season 6 ep 18) has josé appearing out of a present for donald, and once again they're both so excited to see each other! josé teaches donald the cha cha cha, there are clips from saludos amigos and the three caballeros, and josé saying he wants to see parts of america!
Don Rosa's two stories featuring the three caballeros were actually what inspired me to start writing abt this! Don Rosa also writes abt how he loved the three caballeros film and donald's relationship w/ the two! (WDC 635) he talks abt how josé and panchito are donald's "two equal friends" which is always a detail shown in other appearances
in "the three caballeros ride again" we have the three caballeros happen to all run into each other in Mexico to find some silver, donald's vast knowledge from his adventures with scrooge and HDL always amaze josé and panchito which is cute, even though panchito also adventures around it's not on the same scale as donald's which is why they're always looking up to him
in "the magnificent seven (minus four) caballeros" donald "misplaces" his smile, as Don Rosa said previously, uncle scrooge is always exploiting donald, gladstone is insulting and tricking him, and daisy is... a girlfriend
but as many ppl have pointed out in comments on youtube videos featuring the three caballeros together, donald seems his happiest with josé and panchito, so much so that this story plays on the literal idea that donald needs his smile back and the two ppl who are perfect for that job are josé and panchito
I also like that this adventure takes place in Brazil, it feels like over the years though Brazil has been neglected in projects featuring josé and the caballeros, making him more of a tag-along character w/ panchito
... and I do believe that's the 30 img limit for a post! there was more I wanted to talk abt but that can be a different post for a different time, it mostly was just touching upon other appearances of josé and panchito within other media (in english) but aside from legend of the three caballeros there's not much else to these characters unfortunately 💦
a couple of days ago I returned from a trip to the states! I got the chance to parooze around a few used book stores and comic shops around the state I visited, and I was actually pretty happy w/ the things I'd found! there were more Don Rosa stories I wanted to buy but I needed to behave myself unfortunately... 💔
I really want to collect more of the Gladstone Giant albums... anything with additional writing and articles from others are such a treat to read, especially when they act as a time capsule in a way so many years later!
inducks codes below for each item, for those who want to see what stories are in these!

I love that Carl Barks gave us that one canon character who even Donald was willing to ditch Daisy for. And this is no exaggeration. Let me introduce you guys to Rockhead Rooster. He appears in Daisy Duck's Diary: Double Date.
And, yes, that is a MAN. He was supposed to be Clara Cluck's date in a double date alongside Daisy but things take a turn as the two men realize that they actually find each other more interesting.
So interesting that they ended up ignoring their dates completely.
It came to the point that they even started dancing with each other instead of dancing with Daisy and Clara Cluck. As if that wasn't enough, even after conceding, they found a way to dance with their respective dates and still talk to each other.
Hell, they were even willing to give their dates away to other men just so they can spend more time with each other.
Rockhead Rooster will only have minor appearances outside of this comic and it seems publications either color him in white and red or brown.
But Rockhead's such a great character. Even though he only appeared once, fans of the Barks comics will never forget how this man easily won the heart of our favorite unlucky duck.
If you want to see the story with Rockhead and Donald Duck check out "Walt Disney's Donald Duck "Under the Polar Ice": The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 23."
