Cool
how many of you have these secret obsessions that feel trivial enough and also important enough at the same time to be maintained as a secret?
I'm obsessed with scotland. Like, it is not my country, I have never been, it looks rainy as hell and the cuisine seems exotic to say the least. But I am just in love with it. My imagination just made it seem like a place where I would be happy.

HOW NOVELS KIDNAPPED ME
When the pandemic started and all hell broke loose, I tried to help with volunteer work, filtering and forwarding scientific news already digested for my family’s understanding, and basically isolating myself and drowning in work just like so many others. It wasn’t a good year. I lost family members due to cancer and COVID-19, I saw the strongest people I ever knew crumble down under stress and panic. I have a small business that took the hit of the crumbling economy. And I had to cancel the wedding that I had saved up for a long time to have. And everyday news seemed worse. Everyday more deaths. To top it all I live under the worst government possible to lead a country even in the best circumstances. It was very easy for me to decide early on that I needed scape. I’ve always been an avid news reader and being in my country under this pandemic made it impossible to follow the news like I used to. So, I went to the thing that I thought would be a nice distraction. Historical romance novels. So simple. Such a nice escape during a few hours of my day before bed. Or so I thought. I started off with a generic list of recommendations selecting something from Rexanne Becnel and going through almost all her historical novels after that. And then I put my hands in one of Tessa Dare’s book. I remember knowing absolutely nothing about her (or any other romance novel writers for that matter). I got a copy of Romancing the Duke and after two pages I was laughing out loud and saying to my fiancée “THIS IS A ROMANTIC COMEDY! I DID NOT KNOW THEY DID THIS!”. I’ve devoured absolutely all her books in less than a month falling in love with almost all her characters and just thinking how she must be an awesome person. After that it was Mary Balogh, Sarah MacLean, Julia Quinn, Glynnis Campbell, Alice Coldbreath, Paula Quinn and Lisa Kleypas. I have read more than 180 books in the last eleven months, and I intend to talk about every one of them whenever possible. With each book I was so enthralled in dissecting all the parts that I thought were smart, problematic, abusive, innovative, that I decided to start writing little summaries with my opinions in the end in case I ever wanted to go back to some random idea I had while I read almost all of their published books. It has been a rollercoaster of feelings mostly because I hadn’t expected to care so much about novels. And now, here I am, with an ever-growing list of other authors to read and a very detailed methodology of cataloging everything for the crazy lovely naughty art project that I’m turning my pastime into. To think of how and why this all started, I just have to be grateful for how novels kidnapped me.

Slovak beauty - the Slovak costumes in Serbia
The embroidery of Lubina, Slovakia is typical for its circle shape. The result is quite stunning! Also, one more interesting fact: this type of embroidery has always been called called “embroidery of chicken´s asses” by local women.
echinopsisfreakSomething new in today’s post. Trying to innovate a bit. Hope you will like the new twist (wink wink). Today’s star is an unnamed hybrid. Each of those beautiful flowers is over 16 cm/6" in diameter once open. Each timelapse clip shows 10 hours of flower blooming action. Hope you enjoy. Have a great week coming up!
This is damn cute.
