"Not in the slightest. " She might have even argued that she was at her peak...might have, but didn't because there were days that the red bulls in the trash can blinded her in the morning. Of course she wouldn't admit as much to Shego and instead took the champagne glass offered- swig taken (a larger amount than she should've) and shook her head at the idea. Tempting as it was- and it was tempting to have a little more income than the part-time she was constantly ditching out on- it felt wrong to do contract work. To put a price on doing the right thing? There was evil and there was capitalistic evil. Both were lines she tried to make sure she didn't cross. "I'm really not in this 'biz' for profit, you know. Even if the perks can be pretty spankin'. "Which it often was. Early access to things, private planes, elite invites and favors owed by some of the top governments in the world. It wasn't a job without its niceties even if it was her neck on the line.
"Spankin'," Shego echoed flatly.
That was one way of putting it. She thought of the tax-free cash bonuses she'd gotten over the years. The services. The travel. She was in it for the thrill of the game, but sometimes the perks were all you had to remind you that you were winning. She took a sip of the wine and puckered her lips.
"Don't tell me you're still convinced you're helping people. You're smarter than that, princess. Think about it. Who does more damage to the average Joe - a lunatic like Dr. D or a corporation with sharks for stockholders?"

Nothing less than perfect would be good enough for his queen. It had simply been an eternity - so many mortal lifetimes - together; how could he not know her this well? His talons wrapped around Stella's waist and he held her close.
"I should be thanking you, my dear," he said, smiling a crooked, boyish smile both shy and playful as he looked at her. "Is that not what marriage is?"

original writers and artists are the strongest creators on any fandom-oriented website. don't get discouraged. you gotta get so, so deranged about your projects. you gotta make that energy INFECTIOUS. YOUR AUDIENCE WILL FIND YOU.
be proud of your original characters. it's no easy task to create a character from scratch, to make them believable and real and human. it takes time. it takes dedication. so what if they aren't perfect right away? so what if there are still things you're only now figuring out after time? characters evolve, they go through changes and arcs and stories just like real people do. and it's okay if your character develops over time, you don't need to have it all figured out right away. there are some things that will only ever clear up after writing them for a while, finding their voice, and seeing the way they interact with other characters. but this is your character, your creation, and you deserve to feel proud about it no matter what.
I want to make this known; it’s OKAY to flirt with my muse, it’s okay to say flirty things to them, yes, they may not react to it, they may not respond to it positively, but know as a mun I’m 100% OKAY with it. Especially if my muse is clearly attractive appearance wise, go ahead, flirt with them, if my muse is your muse’s type, it’s okay to flirt, we don’t have to be shipping, we don’t ever have to ship to have you flirt with my muse; I WONT think you’re pushing a ship on me either. But I just feel that some people are scared to have their muse be flirty to another because we a muns might take it the wrong way.
I’m not saying this goes for everyone, but I’m letting you know that it doesn’t make me uncomfortable and I’m fine with it.

"Riiight." The retort about taking fashion advice from the woman she had only ever seen wear green- but things were different. She was an adult now and would behave as such. Even if the words were sitting right on the tip of her tongue and she dying to remark on it. Especially given the cold shoulder she seemed to get after the comment on 'color'- which to be fair she usually relied on Monique for a second opinion, but she was busy in Milan for a fashion shoot.
Meaning she was on her own for a new jacket without her shopping pal and instead was standing beside Shego of all people.
That is until another jacket was shoved towards her unexpected, in a very different color, and she wasn't sure what to make of it. The remark was as jibing as ever, but didn't have quite the zing as it usually did. That was a nice change at least. Lips pursed as she took the jacket and looked over the color skeptically.
" I don't usually need a 'style quiz' when your best friend works in fashion." Eyes rolled still as she added under her breath. "Or when your boyfriend is on the cover of British GQ every other month."
Green eyes lifted to her get up before an unexpected phrase slipped and she didn't know why. Maybe it was fondness for another unexpected moment in her memories as she spoke. " Why don't you wear more teal- it'd really brighten you. In my opinion. "
Some best friend, Shego thought, She let you out of the house looking like that. Yeesh. What do you need enemies like me for when you've got a 'best friend' like that?
Her mouth twisted with cruel, silent irony, but she said nothing. Not even, Maybe your boyfriend could style you. Not like his prissy, polished hands are good for much else.
But, again, she didn't say anything. Progress.
She couldn't afford to be smug, though. Kimmy had a sucker punch: the teal. Ugh. Shego tried not to think too fondly or too often of the times she'd spent in her arch-enemy's company... as her teacher, no less. She sucked in her cheeks.
"Yeahhh... No. Teal is way too in Drakken's wheelhouse. I don't need to be twinsies with my boss. Glad to know I look better in it, but... Pass."
Shego turned back to the rack and pretended to scan it for another item. She was no actress and had no patience, not even for her own facade.
"You gonna try that on or what?"

"Okay but you have to admit that since the 'Outlander' series began Edie's tourism business at Erskine has really kicked off. And that's a good thing! "
Not that Edie needed more income. Heavens knew that both Finnegan and Edith had more than plenty in the financials, but she did like for her loved ones to have success in whatever they pursued. Sasha had, over a phone call, talked about the tourists that toured the Erskine grounds as of late and how busy it had gotten. Was it cliche since it was all due to a singular book series that had gotten popularized because of a hunky actor in its tv form? Yes, but dear god that casting director knew what they were doing.
Nose wrinkled with her smile as she teased him. "The Scots are now hot and tourism is up. I talked to Keir just last week and he said that he and Iona are up to their ears in business at the inn & pub."
It was a reminder that she really needed to swing back there sometime soon and catch up with old friends. Apparently Macie had popped out a bairn as wild as her, Charley was running her pa's mechanic shop and Archie was...well still Archie. Noel was still in New York making his name as a chef in some Michelin star restaurant and the twins had moved on out of the area. Sometimes she really missed the simpler days of summers then before they all grew up.
Finnegan scoffed. Sure, Outlander and its ilk boosted tourism, but it also popularized an undiluted Scottish accent after he'd spent a lifetime perfecting his RP vowels and consonants. God, especially the consonants. It was a good thing for others, maybe, but he felt tricked. Not that he'd admit that, not out loud. He'd rather snark and sneer at a strawman than admit that there was anything less than perfect about who he'd fashioned himself into.
"And that's wonderful for Keir, Iona, and Edie," he said, tone still not exactly kind, despite the appeal to childhood friendships and the only person he'd claim as family. "That doesn't mean the books are good. It just means they're profitable. Plenty of awful products make money every day. It's one of the first things they teach you when you go for your MBA. Vaping kills, but even an intelligent consumer will pick up the habit for a quick hit of dopamine. You think the books are any different?"
Books didn't kill, of course, but he wasn't about to stop being childish now that he'd made his argument.

fingers wave a kindle in the air that was just pulled out from her ancient carpet bag like purse (mia has begged her to upgrade; many times). she looks at the bookcover on the display screen then shows to her boyfriend before turning it back to herself and opening up the library. she got the obvious hint. mia was never one for tact- not generally but she was getting better except for when she didn't want to be better.
this was a clear call out. there were rows and rows on this 'gifted' kindle of billionaire romance books. whom was this gifted from? mia. naturally.
" i know i've been busy. we've been busy, but i think she's telling me we're due a date night or something." gabby says handing over the kindle for him to scroll through with a bemused grin.
Christ. What had Mia done now? What a thing to hear: as subtle as an elephant. Finnegan looked up from his tablet, waiting to hear something about the school or the other children or, well, something. Instead, Gabby offered him a kindle - her own kindle - and the gifts she had received from Mia in the last few weeks. Romance novels, so many that it would fill a library. Each cover teased at grand and steamy love stories between two, attractive people, some more scantily-clad than others. He sucked air in through his teeth. It wasn't the covers that bothered him. It was the titles. The Billionaire's Mistress. Romancing the CEO. That sort of thing. Message, received.
"Or something, indeed," Finnegan echoed, voice mildly strained as he tried to disguise amusement and rising guilt at once. He looked up. "Shall we have a meet cute or torrid, impractical sex on the nearest, dubiously supportive surface? Or are you - what - asking me to talk to her about boundaries?"
He set the kindle aside, on top of his tablet, and extended a hand to Gabby. He'd much rather talk to her about her boundaries and just how far she'd want them pushed tonight, but, really, this all felt like an elaborate call out from a teenager. How embarrassing.
"I am sorry if I haven't exactly been leading man material of late. I can make it up to you, if you'd like."
Why else show him the books? Other than to perhaps admonish him for his parenting choices? He smiled, looking Gabby over. She wore exhaustion as well as any model wore Alexander McQueen - and she carried herself better. Her eyes, warm, were soft with mischief and her smile stirred something in him that only she could awaken. Had he really let that something slumber for long enough for even Mia to notice?
