I wrote this tiny, silly joko fanfic based on a thing that just happened to me lol, but it's so short I don't feel like putting it on ao3, so here you go:
It was the first day of the month. The first first day of the month since the love of John’s lives had moved in with him.
Excitedly, he waited to see Yoko stir so he could attack her into full awakeness.
Yoko blinked open her eyes, looking pleasantly at John. Not for long.
John dove in to give her a light pinch and a punch on the arm.
“Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month,” he chanted, “white rabbits, white rabbits, you can’t get me back.”
Yoko disappointingly did not look disappointed.
“I already got you,” she said.
“What? No you didn’t! I think I’d have noticed if you did.”
“Then your mind isn’t as open as I thought it was.”
John looked at her curiously. “Did you do it in me sleep?”
Theoretically, it could have occurred, seeing as it was almost the afternoon and John had only just woken up; there were several hours in which Yoko could have woken up first.
John squinted at her - it was needed to see the full features of her face because, even though he was lying beside her, he was that short-sighted - and looked past her eyes into her mind. Ah.
“You did it in your mind,” John said.
“I did,” Yoko confirmed. “Just before you knew I was awake.”
“But that doesn’t count!” John complained.
“How am I supposed to know if you actually did it in your mind before me?”
John realised the hole he had dug for himself.
“I just mean… the whole point is that you have to do the physical actions and say the words for it to mean anything. You can’t do that with your mind.”
“You can do anything with your mind. Reality is what you imagine it to be.”
John was so head over heels for this woman that he was realising he might have to pack up his pride for once. Because she was right. She was always right. You could do anything with your mind.
John snuggled closer to his girlfriend. “I guess you’re right…”
Yoko gave him a kiss on the head, feeling very smug that she had won.
