i still think robby's character arc is an allegory for the obama presidency.

think about it - the supposed leader of the emergency room knocks out collins (bipartisanship) and betrays mohan (social welfare programs) and mckay (the lgbt community) in order to suck up to his fascist tormentor suicidal ideation (the gop), which feels irrational loyalty to the late doc adamson (reagan), a figure that the suicidal ideation does not truly know or understand and whose actions have often directly contradicted his stated ideals and goals.

robby then goes to confront langdon (the increasingly dispossessed and disillusioned middle class) and santos (santos) with the intention of eliminating them as well, while his past self has made futile attempts at flirting with al-hashimi (true leftism).

it just makes too much sense.
