Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
On this day, 19 July 1958, a key early successful sit-in protest of the US civil rights movement began in Wichita, Kansas. A group of Black students began to sit silently at the whites-only counter of the Dockum's Drug Store in protest at segregation. The aim was to prevent sales and so inflict enough economic damage that segregation was dropped. They faced repeated harassment by police and white racists, and they brought clubs, knives and a gun to protect themselves, although did not end up needing to use them. After 23 days, the owner caved in and desegregated his entire chain. While the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) did not initially support the sit-in, after the success in Wichita it adopted the tactic and it led to desegregation of lunch counters in multiple states. MY FUCKING CAR
"I can't believe humans would hunt the thylacine to extinction, humans are fundamentally evil" Hey, did you know that extinction was long thought to be impossible, and within 50 years of humans realizing that extinction via overhunting was a possibility it practically stopped happening? Did you know that humans are so desperate to prevent more losses that they're funneling millions of collective hours and billions of euros into helping other species? Hours and euros that could be spent on humans, being spent on species on whom humanity's own survival does not depend? Did you know that due to an accidental introduction of rats, the Lord Howe Island stick insect population was brought down to 24 individuals and now there are tens of thousands of them?
This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.
I hate the "humans are fundamentally evil" rhetoric. It's just bullshit pushed by people who hate themselves, so they think everyone else should also hate themselves and each other.
Are humans the best? No. But that's because there's so many of us, that there is no obvious "average" for human behavior. Everyone acts differently, in different situations. And OMG, someone can be nice one second, and a dick another.
Another thing people never take into account when taking about "humans are evil", is the SOCIETIES THOSE PEOPLE LIVE IN.
Living in a fucked up society will likely make you behave fucked up. That's not indicative of your nature or being. It's a symptom of a society that treats people like shit, and trods on anyone deemed "lower" than those at the top.
Conclusion; Humans are AWESOME. We love so much and so intensely, that that love extends to the other species we share this planet with. And if you don't think that's so fucking beautiful, idk how to help you.
Sometimes you get a brief glimpse into the American worldview and decide that you don't want to know.
I cannot stress enough that this meme is entirely literal. there's no reference or subtext you don't know. these are simply the objectively most popular works of art from each denomination.
Affirmations before posting:

The freaks who follow me understand my vision

This is maybe going to sound kind of egotistical of me, lol.
But I actually love that in 'The Amazing Digital Circus' fandom, that Jax's headcanoned preferred name is 'Lilly'. I absolutely love seeing my name!
Because I hardly even see 'Lily' anywhere. Let alone spelled the way I spell my name (I've literally never found anything in a gift shop with my nickname on it the way I spell it 🥲). I just love it, and it feels so fitting for her character!
I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.
I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.
i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
who gives a shit if the heated rivalry actors are queer or not. if they're queer then good for them for getting to play queer roles and if they're straight but this cheerfully willing to have hot sweaty gay sex with other men on television for our entertainment then more power to them too. other straight men should take notes. whats the issue here again
willing to bet money that “no, go back” is the least-pressed button in the history of the internet
is this gonna get me fired you think
