This may seem like a surprising (or even an annoying) question, but I'm genuinely curious about how you interpret that reaction.

Why do you think Louis cries when Lestat sings "Brutal Love"? What do you think is going through his mind in that moment?

Do you think it's because that's the moment he finally accepts that, no matter what happens, he'll always be hopelessly in love with Lestat, that, in the end, it's always going to be the two of them?

Or is it because the song is both incredibly painful and incredibly beautiful? To me, it feels like Lestat is saying, "I love you. I love us. I love our story in its entirety. When it comes to our love, I'll take all of it, even the toxic parts." and that touches Louis but also make him feel again some guilt?

According to Jacob, Louis reacted like that because he was seen again, and that's how I interpreted his reaction, too.

Louis understood in that moment that Lestat sees all of him and understands him and understands their relationship and yes, I do believe it was also Louis feeling the eternal, all-consuming love that he's always felt for Lestat, and it was just a profound reminder that, no matter what, Lestat still feels it, too.

Over a century later —
